Freddy + Tinkerer argument

Hi there, so my friend and I got into a little argument about Freddy players bringing tinkerer. Zero (my friend's nick-name) claims that Tinkerer is a complete waste of a perk slot on a Freddy as he already has a built-in stealth mechanic and that Freddy can be pressured by survivors by gen-rushing...

Though I agree with the stealth part, the reason why I think tinkerer is a decent-amazing perk on Freddy is because of his ability to teleport. People don't use Tinkerer for the stealth mechanic, but for the information it gives. The stealth portion of Tinkerer is more of an "extra" but not the main purpose of the perk. Freddy can teleport to the gen that prompts wherever he's at unlike other killers. Ruin is Freddy's best friend so combined with Tinkerer is a great way to push survivors off gens...

Though I'm not saying its the best combo in the world, but I'd say its a GOOD combo, heck even amazing depending on the situation. Zero mentions how gen-rushing against a tinkerer pressures a Freddy, but don't you think that applies to EVERY killer who brings tinkerer...

So who's side do YOU lean on? I'm open to ideas and any counter-arguments (In a nice civil way, I don't want to argue like 9 year olds lol) Sidenote: I have 3000+ hours on the game whereas Zero has 2000+, just in case anyone asks.

    Yeah no, Tinkerer is goated on Freddy. The second you get a notification from it, you can just be BAM there instantly wherever you are to chase them off. Every other killer needs to spent some time actually waddling over there but Freddy IMMEDIATELY makes his presence at the generator known just by the blood spurting out.

    When ruin is up, you get great value. With the tinkerer information you can force the gen to regress.

    But unlike with other killer you will never get a hit bc of undetectable.

    So with ruin gone you have a problem. You teleport to a gen with ca. 75% and the survivor runs away. What do you do? Wait at the gen to regress with the normal rate? Chase the survivor who runs just away?

    Sure, tinkerer is better with ruin up on every killer, but with freddy you shouldnt get hits out of it. Thats why PGTW with tinkerer is better on other killer. They can get a down with tinkerer and then use pop.

    Tinkerer has still value with freddy, but without ruin its more like i can delay this gen a bit, but not stop it. Its still good to have the information, but you can get better value with other perks.

    Yes, I agree! Freddy seems to be the best killer for Tinkerer as of right now.

    yeah tinkerer is soild for freddy (freddy main myself) great information also if the survivor is awake then hello undeteactable freddy hehe gen grabbed survivors cause of it

    Can you use Tinkerer on Freddy ? Sure. Would I ? No. Its just a perk that tell you when a generator is 75% done, but you lose a lot of its value because Dream Projection give a headstart to survivors and Undetectable is useless when they are asleep. Even if it worked, its not like Freddy need it. His lullaby and small size allready make it pretty hard to tell where he is coming from sometimes.

    As a general rule I don't like using perks that I can't get 100% of the value from. There are other way to keep tabs on generators that he can take full advantage of.

    People who think Tinkerer is bad on Freddy are bad at this game.

    Personally i run Ruin/Undying/Surveillance/Sloppy.. Surveillance gives him much more information and you don't have to wait for a gen to be at 75% just to know someones working on it. You fake teleport to far gens and wait to see if it turns white (a survivor getting off of it thinking you're coming).

    Yup. This is the exact build I use for my Freddy. Most of the time I'll bring add-ons that slow repair and healing speeds, but while tinkerer doesn't give you stealth in the dream world, the ability to know where to go at the drop of a hat is very nice! I've had a lot of success with it.

    That's a good build too, but I would use BBQ in place of Surveillance as that pretty much does the same thing without you having to worry about regressing the generator first.
