What do you do to counter bloodlust?
This mechanic annoys me a lot since its kinda the definition of rewarding failure. Killer wants to ignore all pallets and bloodlust you? Hes gonna catch you eventually depending on the loop. Like i had a game yesterday where the trapper was playing a loop god awful and i think he just bloodlusted it to confirm the down. I understand it was necessary a while ago but now i kinda miss the no bloodlust. And i know the counter is to force them to break a pallet but if they really want bloodlusts help theyll avoid breaking it at all costs. (You can mute my voice if ya want some people find it annoying sorry im not blessed lol)
All he literally had to do was break the pallet and get me at a easier loop or mindgame especially with one like that and me having resilence spine chill. How do i face bloodlusting killers? I know one mistake i made was the dang stairs kept blocking me when i was trying to run the loop so i shoulda ran around the invisible barrier so that slowed my momentum down but i still think with the way he was playing he wasnt gonna catch up without bl.

There's no counter to that other than buying time as much as possible. You wasted a minute of the killer's time so that's a win for the team but seeing as 2 generators didn't pop at all in nearly 80 seconds. The team is slacking.

You cant do anything about it, except for trying to lose the Killer by breaking Chase. But this is not really possible, from my experience, the only time the Killer breaks Chase is when they are actually playing smart, but someone who has to reach at least Bloodlust 2 does not really fall into that category.
But yeah, this Trapper is one of the prime examples why Bloodlust should not be a thing. That time got wasted is a thing, but honestly, it feels kinda cheap that he gets the Hit, just because he is too stubborn to break the Pallet (aka making a mistake) and you get downed despite playing well.

You bought your team 1:20 minutes with a very basic loop after 2 not so strong pallet, so the problem is not bloodlust, it's your team not doing gens.
Now imagine stronger loops.
That said, as long as they don't fix matchmaking bloodlust 1 is fine. Once it's fixed and you really start going against people of similar skill, then you can try to get data to see if it's necessary or not. Because when i try to play huntress, aiming with a controller, while being rank ~14 and the game puts me against pc red rank survivors.... Let me tell you... There's a huge problem here but i don't feel like it's bloodlust. At least that's how i feel

Well I don't think its fun for a killer to have no counterplay around pallets other than stop what you are doing go through a 2.7 second animation then catch up the distance made 0.6 meters at a time
Too many god pallets in the game for bloodlust not to exist, if they were trimmed down a bit then maybe bloodlust could go but it does feel terrible to have a pallet dropped and the only counterplay is eat the pallet and you can't do anything else

he could of saved so much time by breaking those pallets, and zoning the survivor. they most likely wouldnt have made it to another pallet if he did that but he relied on a very cheap ez win mechanic for bad killers. the survivor is gonna get caught eventually without bloodlust as a thing if the killer really wants them.
as with this killer, he didnt care about anybody else or objectives which is to defend gens, he just bloodlusted because he knew he wasnt good enough and he got rewarded for it.

Take solace in the fact that you're a considerably better player and they only got you from a cop-out mechanic. A killer should never reach Bloodlust 3 and theres few excuses for hitting 2. If you can loop them that long they're fighting a losing battle.

This is kind of the issue with bloodlust, the killer didn't win that. You did.
The sad part is the time you wasted for the killer was wasted by your team mates, so in the end its a net loss for survivor side overall when you went down. As at least two gens could have gone in that time.
The problem here isn't bloodlust the problem is your deadbeat team. Without bloodlust you could have potentially strung that chase out indefinitely given the poor play by the killer.
Now a lot of posts are saying he knew he could bloodlust that out and so didn't care about other objectives, but the reality is that we have no idea what the killer player's state of mind is so assuming it is inaccurate and foolish.
Lets talk about target fixation...
The killer here made a poor choice to target fixate on you and they ignored things like pallets, gens etc and eventually bloodlust got them a down. That may have not been their intent and shouldn't have been because it wasted a whole minute which is really really bad for the killer.
So bloodlust can give less experienced killers the perception that chasing like that is beneficial when really its not.
However without bloodlust that killer will likely never get downs and have very little motivation to keep playing and improving.
1v1 the killer should be a bigger threat than the survivor so bloodlust is not without flaws but still has a place. Using it is detrimental to killer time so it also has some element of balance as there is the negative of time wasted to apply bloodlust. It is not OP.
Target fixation has nothing to do with skill, even the best of the best can succumb to it, its what got the Red Baron killed, he chased a less experienced pilot way into enemy territory because his ego wouldn't let a less experienced fighter pilot get away from him, and as such, he was surround by enemy planes and ground fire and got shot down. He is regarded as one of the greatest fighter pilots in history and he should have known better.
If the killer is hitting bloodlust you have done a great job as survivor by wasting their time. The impetus is then on your teammates to use that time to achieve objectives, if they don't its not bloodlust's fault.
Yes bloodlust can reward bad killer decisions, but the lack of it promotes even worse survivor play, because I've got time to do anything other than gens why be efficient at all.
Perhaps the timer to when it kicks in should be extended and be capped at one tier, maybe that would make it more relevant with the new reworks of maps. I think a reworked bloodlust would be better than its complete removal as the killer should be an increasingly scary threat in an ongoing 1v1.

You wasted enough time that at least one Gen could have been done, but nothing. Ideally, both of them could have and should have been done.
Not really sure how it's really the fact that Bloodlust exists that this is a problem. Your team was mostly useless during your chase. If they were doing Gens then the Killer would have been punished for taking so long even with Bloodlust.

They should keep Bloodlust 1 and remove bloodlust 2 and 3.
Back in the days with infinites and more safe pallets, Bloodlust 2 and even 3 might have been legit, but its time to change that.
About your Question: There is nothing really you can do against Bloodlust, but if you are in a Team, someone can tank a hit for you. This will reset his bloodlust.

During no bloodlust weekend, I'd loop/see killers looped indefinitely due to certain structures/stubbornness/etc.
During games like this, everyone scored poorly and the game was boring. People literally threw themselves at the killer to get chase points.
I've also looped killers for full games (I'm not good, either) with BL on.
Bloodlust helps certain players/killers get downs, which provides additional scoring opportunities for the remainder of the players in the game.
This may just my line of thinking, but barring very egregious misplays, 1 Killer + Killer Power should never be able to be looped indefinitely. This turns the gameplay for everyone else into an M1 sim, prevents altruistic/bold scoring, emblem progression, etc.
The game is at its best when stuff is actually happening and all players get a chance to be involved.

If a killer does this you already won and your team should have enough time to punish them. This is a 1v4 game... if you ran the killer long enough for bloodlust to hit stage 2 or 3, the killer should lose the game if the survivors didn't mess up. Look at the bigger picture, not just the 1v1.

With this level of safety on a pallet you might want to consider only vaulting since if you won't run, you won't trigger chase and thus no BL. I'd say that's the only way to avoid BL so if you manage to read the killer enough, you can force him to break the pallet but you need to be on point with your timing & predictions on pallet vaults.

The only thing you could have done there was try to slow vault, then slow vault back again and hope the killer continued in his loop. Then maybe even a third slow vault presuming he continued his predictable loop). That may have helped lose bloodlust, but unsure to be honest. You would have had to do this early on, too.
Realistically though, you couldn't really have done anything better there.

If you get the killer into BL 3 you have already stalled for enough time for a full batch of generators to be completed.
In your case the final 2 generators should have been completed within that chase window.
Aka blame your team for not finishing generators as that chase SHOULD HAVE won the entire survivor team the game.

If you were in the chase long enough for Bloodlust to trigger you already won. There is no need to counter it.
You bought enough time for your team to do gens. Having a chase last 30 seconds generally is good enough in this game. Any more than that is just gravy.
Now if you are playing with potatos that's a problem but that's another matter.

Pallets and breaking line of sight are your best options to prevent bloodlust.
