If one more survivor kills themselves on hook while facing freddy.
I swear.... past 5 games with a freddy have been insta dc or suicide on hook. Did i miss something about freddy?

He’s super common in higher ranks and for many not that fun to play against. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s why they’re leaving
21 -
Aaaand this explains his artificially high kill rate.
26 -
I never understood why he's not that fun to play against. He's just an M1 killer with some mobility shenanigans.
5 -
A ton of people absolutely hate playing against freddy.
That's it
4 -
When you look at the "why is X killer so good" Other then the overhate of Gunslinger, Freddy is probably the most commonly complained about killer.
I play him when I need to farm BP as killer because it is absurdly easy to play him and do well. Sometimes I want to watch TV/read a book/ while playing and still want to do good, and Freddy is a good killer for that scenario.
4 -
Played against 3 freddy's this weekend this weekend. This happened in all 3 games. One game survivor killed himself on hook as we popped 1st gen. The 3 of us still escaped body blocking for each other to the gate. Hahahaha Fred not so powerful that game......... Solo Q btw
4 -
Freddy is unfun and boring. Players who use Freddy = ez 4k baby killer.
nerf pig
11 -
I'll just mention it again - devs need to take a look at Killer DC rates. Killers that aren't fun to play against, to the point where people DC out of the game, should be looked at to figure out how to correct the situation.
7 -
Freddy is kind of the worst. I don't kill myself on Hook but most Freddy's bm a lot even though they are using one of the, if not the, easiest Killers in the game.
1 -
Freddy is just overtuned. At high ranks a lot of people hate playing against him because he is very oppressive. Especially if he runs gen slowdown AND Undying Ruin Tinker on top of it. I get Freddy getting 4Ks without a single gen done sometimes when he runs this kind of build.
4 -
People hate Gunslinger? I thought he's fine. He's also pretty fun to verse. He can easily stomp but he's not boring or annoying to fight against like some killers like Freddy or Doc.
That's like saying Hag is just an M1 killer with some mobility shenanigans.
3 -
Idk why but people just generally hate Freddy. He's not that annoying imo.
That aside if they don't add in a way to play Old Freddy when they change him I'm going to go feral.
0 -
Yeah, mostly 'cause he's not super fun to play against.
Get chased, go around a loop, pre-drop because looping's going to result in a snare with no lost speed from Freddy, repeat.
Desperately fight gen slowdown while he teleports onto your gens.
Desperately try to get the last gen done now that he only has three places to teleport.
Without a team that really knows what it's doing, it's very easy for even bad Freddies to be a-- wait for it-- nightmare.
So most people are just like "#########, guess i'll die"
4 -
That shows that there's a problem with Freddy. He's the easiest killer to play and almost anyone with the slightest amount of game sense can 4k with him. That, and how most of them stack slowdown addons is why no one likes him.
3 -
I don't understand the gunslinger hate either. he is a mid tier killer that can be countered, but a lot of people really really hate him.
1 -
I want to dc the moment I see its Freddy. Not because he's OP, I just hate the stupid dreamworld so much, it makes my eyes bleed. I don't, just because I don't want to punish anyone. But if someone DC's at the start, I basically give up and not even try to play properly. Instead, Ill just look for totems and chests to make the match a bit more interesting.
3 -
It’s having it’s intended effect: the devs look at kill rates and nerf. It’s dumb as hell.
0 -
His kill rate would still be high due to his kit having too much of everything.
1 -
Yeah I have a few killers where I just want out. Especially when I'm found first most of the time and when I go down none of my teammates are doing anything? I'm out. Hey, at least killers get more BBQ stacks now when people die on first hook.
0 -
Because people find him boring. Whenever I'm in a bad mood and just want to ruin some poor souls' days, I just run ######### Freddy. This build consists of Red Paint Brush, Swing Chains, and a Cut Coin (Coin is only for extra "######### you")
There are 2 variants of the build:
Variant 1: Sloppy Butcher, Thanataphobia, Hex: Ruin, Tinkerer
Variant 2: Knock Out, Thanataphobia, Hex: Ruin, Hex: Undying
And I just slug.
And slug.
And slug.
Needless to say, I've gotten countless DCs and countless death threats and other forms of S A L T.

It’s so they can get him nerfed (or “changed”, as the devs like to call it) like they did Nurse. Freddy is just an M1 Killer with a teleport and some anti loop. I just respect what he can do and that usually works out for me. We really need to see stats that don’t take DCs and suicides into account. He might still be at the top, but his numbers most likely will not be anywhere near as high.
0 -
Or that he is so insanely easy to play.
I can probably teach my cat to play him. And once she got her first 4K, she decides to chase after her tail again, because Freddy was too boring for her to play with.
7 -
Hrm? He's just tiresome to play against. Running across the map every thirty seconds to wake up is not fun. Knowing every loop is futile because he can lay ten! snares down with zero repercussions is not fun. Freddy is the only killer I actively dislike playing vs.
0 -
Hag is an M1 killer with mobility shenanigans.
0 -
I did that today. Killed myself on hook. Ruin/undying, thana, tinkerer, Swing chains, Jump rope Freddy.
On the next one, just like that.
0 -
Freddy slows down gen progression with addons, reduces mobility, usually brings games to screeching halt, has several nuances that change normal mechanics (OoO, BT for ex.), and his hitbox is aggravating. When paired with Tinkerer/Ruin/Undying he becomes a stalling machine and games that take forever are boring, much like a hag with 3 gen.
0 -
He can cut off loops with snare, or create fake loops with pallets.
He has direct to gen mobility.
He can slow down the game with add-ons AND perks.
He is harder to see if awake, and everything becomes harder to see through while asleep.
If survivor is asleep, they glow like a Christmas tree.
Also, full speed killer.
His kit is so strong it's bananas. I think every licensed killer is made to be stronger than any base killer.
0 -
Freddy is OP and annoying to face. Survivors have to try super hard to win. Most likely you’ll lose. So that’s why they killed themselves against him
0 -
Survivors DC on any killer
2 -
What are your suggestions for Freddy, then?
0 -
Freddy getting nerf soon. Can't wait.
0 -
I've never really found any of this with a game against freddy, yes you are listing some of his powers but you split up, you get a notification when he's porting to a gen, his hit box is just like any other killer's hit box as is his lunge, a lot of that appears to be imagined.
Be a little more observant with a fake pallet freddy. Wake up, don't stay asleep. Yeah he has a bit of tool box so the game seasaws a bit but that's not a bad thing and often you've waited in 10min queue but then complain about a 10-15 mintue game? I want to queue for longer than I play #########.
Its kinda like just as killers have to switch up their game play because killer powers vary, survivors have to switch up their gameplay in response to which killer it is. But no people want a one shoe fits all kind of game.
I have one thing I can do and that's loop but any killer that can shut down loops is annoying and boring. I like stealth but any killer who can track easily is annoying and boring. This killer shuts down gen progression well and now I can't just crush out gens and move on its boring.
That's the lamest argument around when the solution is just switch up your gameplay, stealth out once in a while like its huntress whom anounces her arival, or split up like its bubba or doc that both love a group of four in a bunch. Nah I want to gen rush and run around the same rock 9 times or its boring.
Switch it up depending on which killer and you'll find the game gets better no matter what.
3 -
Because he's absolutely ridiculous.... His lunge range is absurd and hard to judge when to drop a pallet, it also has an insanely fast wind up so if he's too close you can't even see it happening.
He can snare your movements or make fake pallets and he can teleport all over the map to your objectives so his pressure is nuts... he knows where you're going to be at all times.
It would be nice if there was some kind of cool down for his teleport but it almost seems like he can do it infinitely back to back so it's just a waste of effort to even bother going up against him.
If someone is hooked before 1 gen goes off, chances are you're all done.
0 -
Oh my,
That's quite the fun build to verse
1 -
What's your suggestion to counter Freddy?
Stealth?
Loop?
Not work on Generators?
Do nothing the entire game?
Freddy doesn't just shut down one thing well, HE SHUTS DOWN EVERYTHING.
That's what people aren't happy with.
3 -
It's been like this for a long time. If you've played long enough since rework you'd know that people just find Freddy boring to play against. Especially when they run slowdown perks and addons.
0 -
This is pretty accurate.
0 -
What makes him "unfun" and "boring"? Is it because shift+w isn't effective against him?
3 -
Because Freddy is unfun and boring to go against. Most Freddy's use slowdown builds which can be very annoying and he can spam snares around loops, making it near impossible to win a chase. Not to mention he can teleport across the map and can waste even more time by survivors trying to keep themselves awake. He just has way too much to work with.
0 -
Here's the problem with that logic
1. Hag: They DC just because
2. Pyramid Head: Survivor's hate the gamble and risk and don't like the fact that they have to get hit
3. Slinger: A lot of survivor's DC against him because Shift + W isn't that effect and that survivor's like having control
Spirit: Let's just say that survivor's think its okay for killers to guess, but when they have to guess instead of using their ######### brain its justified to DC
The problem doesn't lie within the killers, its mostly because survivor's are use to majority of the killer roaster being Shift + W counterplay. The devs are trying to create killers that are more M2 reliant on using their powers in chase rather than W A S D and mindgaming 100% of the time
3 -
Move off a gen when the port starts, stealth out, you'd be amazed how many freddy's just kick a gen and move on. When he picks up a survivor position youerself as best as possible around a gen to reduce aura in case of BBQ.
Split up on gens as much as possible. Force a choice of which one to port to.
Run distraction perks so you can miss skill checks to wake up and switch up noise notifications.
Think outside the box. He has anti-loop tech so don't try and run around the same rock 8 times and be mindful of pallets if fake pallet freddy, focus your escape on windows.
If people are facing multiple freddy's in a row, as many often claim, then start working on an anti freddy build and run part or all of it across a few matches. Maybe something like calm spirit, small game, some distraction and loop perks or standard DS, adrenalin.
Its kind of like a year ago when everyone was complaining about Doc after the rework, people started running calm spirit a lot and while it can be a bit of a wasted perk against some killers it lessened the Doc shock a lot of folks seemed to be suffering.
Yes Freddy has a varied toolbox with benefits to several aspects of the game, that will likely change again as he may be a bit too much jack of all trades but he's not impossible like people seem to think.
Oooh my meta build doesn't work against killer X because they have a lot of tech going for them and its uncounterable and I'm not creative enough to think outside the box, is what 90% of "boring" arguments boil down to.
Remeber META doesn't mean strong, it means easiest to use and apply broadly.
He is a licensed killer, he has to look a certain way, it makes his hit box look large because he is human sized compared to other killers with a smaller weapon. Small model, big killer hitbox, makes his hitbox and reach appear out of whack, be mindful of this.
Try some of this and let folks know how it goes, then maybe there might be a bit more constructive "this build worked great against several freddys" threads rather than "it's boring boo hoo DC whine threads"
I've played survivor all evening faced 2 freddy's tonight escaped once, died once and both games were just like the rest of the night a fun switch up of the game. I'm running a bit of a gen build to crank out as many gens as possible to finish 20 gen rift challenge. I generally kept away from others, did gens solo and pathed through the stronger loops of asylum, namely the central building when moving about the map. Kinda worked. Spine chill, resilience, technician, adrenalin/DS

Get another cat. So it isn't lonely and has someone to play with.
0 -
You see, the problem is, if they do some "minor addon reworks" like they did with Nurse and Billy, then his popularity will significantly drop.
I personally would prefer if they reverted their overhaul and gave some small adjustments to the old Freddy. Things like being able to interact with survivors that are holding m1 for example.
0 -
And game length... Freddy games take so bloody long. The longer survivors are stuck in a game, the better chance of kills.
0 -
In that case, Nurse is also an M1 Killer with some mobility shenanigans, since she only uses M1 to attack Survivors.
0 -
Deathslinger is a case of lazyness. He has counters but people are lazy to play different against him.
But Spirit and Freddy are understandable. They are both to easy to play for their strength's.
Most people who play Freddy bm because it's the only Killer they can play and 4k with and have the ego to call themselves good because they 4k'd with the easiest Killer while using overkill Perks on an overtuned Killer.
Spirit requires good ears at least. But Spirit with Stridor is at the same level of boring as Freddy.
0 -
along with inbuilt spammable anti-loop, high slowdown and free stealth, Freddy is way too oppressive and that's why people don't like facing him

I am not against your points here, but will expand on specific points you noted.
1-The issue with his teleport is that its readily available. Demo has to lay portals that can be undone after being used at least once, Hag has to prep her traps, Freddy has it whenever needs and to the most important objectives of the game. It's also bad for the killer bc once the last gen is done, he basically loses a huge part of his power. That along with small PP build (Ruin+Undying+Tinkerer) makes it so unless your team is very well coordinated (quite uncommon in SQ) the game is gonna last up to 20 minutes.
2-His hitbox is aggravating bc he shares it with the other killers while having the smallest killer model in game. The issue here is his animation, which could be fixed by extending his arms in lunges, just like he does in the movies, to give a visual clue as to why you were hit.
3-Fake pallet is more of a downgrade compared to dream snares, any killer who uses them are intentionally crippling themselves.
4-People don't want a one solution for every killer. I am excited versing Huntress, Nurse, Bubba, Billy, and most killers in fact and they all require adptation. The ones that are not in that least are either lead to boring games (Freddy) or lack counter play (Spirit and to a lesser extent Slinger).
5-Freddy is boring bc of the way his execution. His addons slow the progress of objectives, most players i've been against use the same core of perks to slow it even more (Ruin+Undying+Tinkerer) and he chases you by, guess what, slowing your movement. You know one slow down mechanic that was beautifully done? Pig's traps! They give you a side objective that has no escape and lead to exciting moments, not a lazy "Jump Rope: Applies a moderate Action Speed penalty to Repair, Healing, and Sabotage actions".
Finally, you may not think so and, from the bottom of my heart, that's good for you. But when most of the community has a different opinion on a subjective topic (X killer is boring) there might be in fact some truth in there.
0 -
this he is a tier yet people cry he is sssssss++++++ and needs a nerf
1 -
Hey mate no malice intended, very well thought out points and definitely reasons for Freddy to be looked at by the devs.
I often see more whining than constructive suggestions on the forums, your post is refreshing, hence my state of exasperation at "X is boring" threads. Boring is so subjective and often an unhelpful analysis with little to no constructive feedback.
A 20 min game isn't a terrible thing, I wish more games lasted longer than they do, especially with an often 10min+ survivor queue.
Also as I've said he is a bit of jack of all trades with not a lot of downside, which should probably be looked at.
His level of threat makes him fun to play and play against though. (Although not being a huge nightmare on elm fan I don't really use him often).
In his defence, he's got so much you really have to think outside the box when facing him. Rather than the game degenerating into ring-a-ring-a-rosie simulator as it does against many killers even those with anti loop tech.
It pains me to see good toolbox killers get beaten with the nerf stick because the argument against them is often "I can't loop or my META perks don't work here and it's boring"
