Are sound cues really necessary?
Just as a major example, demorgogon has a sound cue for essentially everything he does. If he whiffs, global Sound cue, if he makes the hit, global sound cue. If he uses his teleport, global sound cue.
Another example would be clowns grunt when going through a window... who's bright idea was that?
Hillbilly let's out a yell when he begins his charge. Which annoys many, and others question why it was even added.
Blight gives a ton of sound cues as well. In particular his screams when activating his rushes, and the cooldown noises that alert every nearby survivor that it's safe to run away.
As thematic and cool as some of the cues are, are they truly necessary?
What if there was an experiment over a weekend that removed some sound cues from the survivors side. Basically only the killers would be able to hear their cues, just to see how much of an impact it would have on gameplay.

It's funny how a 50 pound sword tearing through the fucking ground makes less noise than a skinny walking foreskin.
make demo less loud pls

So what you're asking for is for every killer to get buffed?

Audio cues are good as they all for counterplay, however in demo's case they are incredibly done. Why does he have audio cues for EVERYTHING he does and no other killer does?

No, I'm asking if all of the sound cues are necessary. Also if we could have an experiment to see if removing some of them impacts gameplay.
There's also this magical thing called "using your eyes". You see, when you turn your head around, you can see what the killer is doing. I know, amazing isn't it?

In a gameplay sense, noise is important. I feel like most of these are probably good, a good example is Huntress' little inhale when she starts charging her hatchet, and the only good noise cue on Demo is his little hiss when charging shred. But there are a definite few that don't need it.
Demo doesn't need to blast across the entire map whenever he takes a few steps, and honestly I'd be fine with them removing the noise from his teleport. His footsteps are already loud as hell. "uNdEtEcTaBlE bTw"
I despise Hillbilly's roar with every single fiber of my being. The chainsaw is already a noise cue enough, I have no idea why they added a roar.
Why on earth does Clown grunt when he vaults. He's the only killer that does this. Seriously, why? It removes all possible mindgames at vaults. I'm hoping it will get removed whenever his rework comes out.

Sound cues are good when done right.
Most killers have well done sound cues imo, but then you have demo who is just overkill with the number of sound cues he has.

I like the sound cues because they give the killers bit of personality. I'd be sad if pigs couldn't roar at me anymore, especially the ones that spam for a boop. It'd also make the match way too quiet/boring.

Imo the only sounds cues that need to be removed/reworked are Demo's portal noise (eliminate it), Pig's ambush roar (make her roar AS she is attacking, not before), Clown's vault (why?), and Hillbilly's roar (again, why?)
Sound is just as important to survivors as it is to killers, so if you just straight up eliminate killer sound queues, that gives killers an upper hand that is unnecessary. And I'm saying this as a former killer main, now 50/50 player.

Removing sound cues from survivors is bad. Survivors need the sound cues too. If we aren't playing with aura perks it's how we find teammates, just like how killers find survivors.

Skinny walking foreskin
I can't

I think the devs added them because they sound cool, but unfortunately they end up screwing the Killer over balance wise. All Demo has to do is exist and every Survivor on the map knows what it’s doing. Hopefully the devs decide to remove most of Demo’s mapwide audio cues when doing its add-on pass.

Audio cues should be available only to the solo queue and every killer should have it

I would like to keep the sound cue after a hit in Demos case. Because I love his roar. Buuuuut the sound cue for teleporting or his heavy steps are a little bit to much I think. Someone suggested in the past, that Demo could be more silence after a teleport as long as his undetectable status effect last for.

I'm okay with Demo roaring on a hit since you can see when people are injured anyway, but his other sounds should be drastically reduced. Survivors constantly know that he is occupied and can fix generators in peace.
Unfortunately I remember a dev stating that the point for the audio cues on Demo is to make sure solo survivors know when he is teleporting, the reasoning being that SWF will tell their friends when he leaves to teleport through a portal, so solos shouldn't be singled out... I acknowledge that the devs' hearts are in the right place, but that reasoning leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

the clown grunt cuz he is fat

Short answer? Yes.
Long answer? Yes, but not everything should be broadcast the way it currently is. There's a sweet spot that needs hitting, like with Huntress and Oni.

The problem is when demo has no sound curse is 1 You die 2 you end up missing it and want to hear demo roar but know that he cannot and instead cry in sadness.
If you ever want to know what no sound demo was like ask a mobile player who was around when demo had no sound for a while.

Sound Cues are fine IMO, for the most Part.
Demo-->Making a sound for everything he does is ok. I mean, look at this creature, you would expect this thing to do a lot of noise. It would be strange if he would be silent most of the time. Only thing that can change is him being more silent when coming out of a Portal.
Clown-->Sound Cues for Clown are ok for the most part, the only thing that needs to go is the sound when he is vaulting a Window. I dont even know why he has it, he is the only Killer making such a sound. Yes, he is a fat man, but there is no need for that.
Blight-->I dont think that his Cues are any problematic. Yeah, it can give the Survivors an Indiciation to run away, but thats not a problem for Blight.
When it comes to Billys roar, he should roar the whole time he is using the Chainsaw and not just at the start. This would be the best change 2021 already.

Sounds cues are so huge for Dead by Daylight on both sides. They ARE actually really necessary.

Yes, its necessary.

They are very necessary. Unless you wanted solo Q players to be even more miserable than they already are by stripping away what little information they have available to them.
