Killer idea: THE GRAVEDIGGER
Lore: Anastacio vráchos was a man who lived a carefree life accompanied by his wife and child. He was a loving father and guarded his family from the world of hatred and terror. Those two things were words he knew well, very well. Anastacio was a grave digger, almost self employed for he begged for the job, obtaining it without question. Before work he was in desperate need for money, a need for a job. After getting denied several times because of his lack of degree, he decided to apply as a grave digger at his local cemetery. Several minutes of begging earned him his paycheck every month. Day after day a new dead body was brought before him. This constant exposure to corpses almost completely desensitized him. Now seeing a dead body didn't even make his blood run cold, in fact it made him smile. He loved the way the human body just fell limp, how it was never able to protest its fate. He would set the body parallel to the grave, and with a flick of his ankle, watched as it tumbled into the grave, emotionless. Dirt lightly covered the body with only the eyes slight shine visible, after staring he would finish his job, piling pounds of soil on top of the body.
Although his job affected his mental health, it never seemed to affect his personal life, his life with his loving family. Still Anastacio was a great father, he always wanted to be involved with his family, and he always was. When questioned about his job he would almost always say, "oh, i don't enjoy it, it just pays the bills!". After a few times, they never questioned him again, which is the way Anastacio liked it. As the questions faded, so did his sanity. Questioned were his motives, "why do i like doing this, why does it satisfy me." The questions came in an abundance and his cries began to fill the house every night. His sanity dwindled each day, and finally it became noticed by his family. In an act of kindness, his wife and son silently left the house to retrieve supplies for a fresh breakfast. The doors of the vehicle were closed in small increments as to not wake Anastacio. During the ride to the market a car suddenly appeared in front of the vehicle. The headlights of the opposing vehicle blinded her, leaving her in a state of unawareness. The two cars collided sending both the passenger and the driver flying head first out of the windshield. The glass cut them deeply, and the impact caused bones to break. Both mother and son died in the hospital that night.
The next morning Anastacio awoke, and frantically searched for his family. He soon realized the time and ran through his routine faster than ever. One key part of his routine was skipped, watching the morning news. No later than 30 minutes he arrived at his job and prepared himself, dressing in work attire. The body was delivered and a stinging pain ran down his spine. For once after working for 2 years his blood ran cold. His heart began to beat uncontrollably, and he stood still, aghast. The bodies that lie before him, are those of his wife and son. Anastacio slumped to his knees with a solemn, emotionless face. A day later Anastacio was found hanging from a noose, a knife under him, and a deep gash in his neck.
Appearance: The gravedigger has a limp, dislocated neck that displays a massive gash. His head almost turned 180 degrees from the very apparent limpness of his neck, leaning slightly in front of his left shoulder. Remnants of his old fashioned suit are visible.
Ability: The digger of many graves. 3 different holes can be dug anywhere around the map. (the holes are covered in dirt and cannot seen very well) when you want to move to one of the holes you can hold in right mouse. This will start a digging animation and an overview of the map will appear that allows you to click on one of the three holes. When one is selected the hole that was just dug will disappear and you will appear crawling fast (Yet very disturbingly) out of the ground. The same screen will appear when you walk up to a hole and press f, doing this will not make the hole disappear. The gravedigger can cover up holes by walking up and pressing M1. This will allow you to dig another. Also available is the ability to fill your crude shovel up with mud, dirt, or crumbled up concrete. (depending on the map) When releasing the shovel is flung forward and the substance flies out. When coming in contact with a survivor they are met with a blinding effect, which covers their screen with mud for a certain time then is wiped off. (if this entire ability were in the game it would need to be balanced accordingly.
Perks.
Dig your own grave. If a survivor begins to repair a generator in the first 5|10|20| seconds, every survivor receives the exposed status effect for 30 seconds. When the 4th generator is completed anyone working on a generator or begins to repair one at most 20 seconds after, the exposed status effect is applied. This is the same with the 2nd generator.
Eagerness towards completion: After breaking a pallet you gain speed equivalent to that of a lunge with a duration of 1|2|3 seconds. When your speed boost is granted the ability is put on a 45|30|15| second cooldown.
instilled fear. After a hex totem is cleansed survivor's action speed is decreased by 50% for 10|20|30 seconds. When there is one generator left the same happens.
Mori: The gravedigger takes his shovel and impales the survivor with it, lifting them up until they are face to face, with the gravediggers face almost upside down. He then grabs them by the neck, lifting them off of the shovel and then throwing them to the floor.

This took me about an hour and a half, as i came up with it along the way.

There are some interesting thoughts here. I feel like the tunnel ability should be a secondary ability. Being able to fast move around objectives is strong, but I think he needs something that he can do to survivors. For example, and I'm just spitballing here, he projectile vomits a sticky substance. Survivors that walk across the vomit are slowed by 25% for 2 seconds. The range is short, the idea is to counter looping by leaving sticky puddles on the ground.
The perks are pretty decent. Dig Your Own Grave might need some tweaking. Having it trigger 3 times in a match might be a bit much. Instilled Fear paired with NOED seems a bit messed up. You either let the killer have NOED or you have generator progress reduced to a crawl for a very long time. It's not impossible to play around though. Survivors could coordinate and try to break totems at the same time. But for non SWF teams, it might be a bit much. I'm torn on that one. A good totem protection perk would be nice. At the same time there has to be room for counterplay and this feels a lot like a damned if you do or damned if you don't when paired with NOED and Ruin.
Overall, I like a lot of what you've come up with.

@Dreamnomad yes that would be cool, but the clown exists. Also it could be that the blindness mud may stick to the ground and if walked across they would also get blinded. i knew i wanted him to have an anti-loop ability, so i resorted to a blinding mechanic. Also if you haven't already , please if you would like, take the time to look at my other ideas. they are not updated really, as in i still need to fix things, but i devote alot of time into these and would like others to see it. Thank you so much for commenting, it really makes my day that someone else appreciates my work, and is the reason why i still come up with ideas for killers. by the end of this week i may have a new killer idea out, a killer with a giant ball and chain on his hand....
Thanks again!0 -
The vomit thing really was a 1 second off the top of my head idea. You are right that it would share too much design space with the Clown. For some reason I completely missed the flinging mud in the survivors face to obstruct vision function. That actually is a neat idea. I've come up with an alternative idea that I've actually put thought into that I really like.
Spectral Tombstone- You summon a semi-translucent tombstone 8 meters in front of you that acts as a solid object to survivors, but you can pass through freely. The tombstone has a duration of 15 seconds or until you summon another tombstone. Cooldown is 5 seconds.
I think there are a lot of really neat applications to a power like that and a tombstone would fit the gravedigger feel really well. I think 8 meters is the right distance as that is just outside of lunge range. If you timed it perfectly, it would appear right in front of a survivor and stop them briefly long enough to be hit. It would also feel really good to block a door, pallet, or window right before a survivor got to it.
I'll try to take a look at some of your other ideas when I get some time.
