Playing Hag With Macro is Cheating

It’s as simple as this:

”cheating in a video game involves a video game player using various methods to create an advantage beyond normal gameplay, in order to make the game easier. Cheats may be activated from within the game itself, or created by third-party software or hardware.”

by using a macro you are using a third party software to give you an advantage that you normally wouldn’t be able to get, so it’s as simple as that: if you use a third party software to give you an advantage (advantage being instant teleport hag) your cheating.

First what is macro? Second how do you know the hag is using the program?

a macro is a program that automatically clicks buttons.

for example if you have a wiggle macro your character will automatically wiggle when on the shoulder even if you don’t click any buttons.

a macro hag makes it so when someone triggers a trap you automatically instant teleport and hit. it’s not them teleporting fast it’s just a program that does it automatically. you can tell if a hag has this when you trigger a trap and they hit you before you even realise you triggered the trap.

no because there’s literally an official discord for swf groups.

    I just mash the button.

Are you using a mouse from 1990 with a ball instead of a laser or what? most "gaming" mice have thumb buttons now.

  • That seems too pointless for me to consider cheating tbh.

Also, if someone is doing that of all things to gain an advantage; I honestly feel a bit bad for them tbh. I legit would just want to let them win because they must really need that W in their life.

    Lol,

I got so often accused of using Macros when playing Hag it's ridiculous.

Using scrollwheel or E is also extremly fast especially when you are used to playing Hag.

Why would anyone want to automatically teleport? Sometimes I want the survivor to run from the activated trap into my mouth. You can teleport instantly just by mashing the button/key as they approach the trap.

Ummmmmmm I felt the burn from here !!!

Thanks for the big laugh Pulsar xD ! New/Bad survivors logic in a nutshell.

Not playing hag anymore cause she's boring and ez af but who need macro really ? Is that even exist ?

By what you said that would not be cheating that would be hacking. Which is bannable. (I guess if you're hacking you're cheating)

Sounds more like a disadvantage. I can already imagining downing someone and the macro sending you halfway across the map before you can pick them up.

Hag is just another example of a killer that was overbuffed. When she released, there was a short delay to her teleport which allowed a little counterplay, but now there is none.

She needs it because of the swf unbelievably op, it's basically a free win, absolutely no skill required.

The only thing from the rules that matches is this:

Using 3rd party software or other tools to gain any kind of unfair advantage that wasn’t intended by the game, except if they have been whitelisted by us. We are not banning for the use of communication apps.

    Source: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/139-game-rules

A teleport macro does not give you an advantage. You can accomplish the same by spamming the button manually. Further confirmation that macros are allowed* here:

*With the exception of them possibly being picked up by EAC, in which case you won't be unbanned.

The game rules state that any kind of outside communication is considered to be cheating, refer to the quote above. That means for example that any SWF group that is using communication outside of the game is cheating as defined in the game rules. No bans are being issued for this kind of cheating though. The whitelist mentioned in the game rules likely refers to the EAC whitelist, which is longer published. Nevertheless, because communications apps are mentioned separately it is implied that they are not whitelisted, which means using them is cheating, but no one is being banned for it.

    In summary:

    • using macros is not cheating, but if you get banned by EAC you won't be unbanned
    • using communication apps like Discord is cheating, but you won't be banned for it

You don’t always want to immediately teleport as Hag.

The hypocrisy here is staggering. Go reread your OP.

"you are using a third party software to give you an advantage that you normally wouldn’t be able to get, so it’s as simple as that: if you use a third party software to give you an advantage (advantage being constant communication with your team) your cheating."

Game was never meant to have voice comms, hence why it's not there. Players running only the game and no third party software cannot access this ability. By your own definition, it's cheating, regardless of the existence of channels for it on the third party software itself.

Binding teleport to mousewheeldown instead of spacebar isn't a macro at all, it's just rebinding a key. Yes it's easier to spam than spacebar and might be faster to use as well, but it still requires user input and is bound by human reaction times.

An actual teleporting macro sounds like a pretty bad idea. If it's not running at all times, might as well just use mouse wheel. If it is, that sounds like a recipe for a lot of teleporting away from people you were about to down because someone stepped on a trap at the edge of your teleport radius. And that's without getting into how easily punishable it would be if the survivors caught on to the Hag always instantly teleporting to every trap that gets popped in her radius and intentionally used this knowledge against her.

At the end of the day it's gonna be in that weird "greyzone" of things that they're not gonna hunt players down for, but they won't help them if EAC suddenly decided to ban them. It's not explicitly "whitelisted" unlike something like VOIP apps (I'd call a dedicated line saying "We are not banning for VOIP apps" in the rules is pretty damn whitelisted at least 😄) but it doesn't really offer any significant advantages that makes more aggressive anti-macro measures needed.

Michi is widely considered the best hag in the game and uses the scroll wheel to teleport. He also has insane reaction time and can teleport almost immediately after a trap is triggered. A majority of experienced hag's use scroll wheel because it allows the quickest possible teleport. I've never run into a hag with a macro. Like others have said it could be detrimental and make you teleport when you don't want to.

External program not built into the core structure of the game that enhances the players performance is cheating? No you don't say!

. . . Yet we have audio coms on swf that goes unpoliced.

Some Hag players, me included just start mashing the CTRL key or whatever else when they feel/know a survivor is about to trigger a trap. Some people bind the teleport to scroll wheel which makes it slightly faster. How ever I highly doubt there are many people out there if any who are experienced with Hag who use a macro, since it would more than likely screw you over more times than it would help

Until recently, she had no lunge momentum out of her trap's teleport. However, because latency ****s Hag, the devs changed that along with whatever other lunge changes were going on at the time (Wraith and Spirit issues, I think?). That change gave her significantly more control over any situation wherein a survivor triggers a trap and The Hag is free to teleport.

I'm a CTRL masher, and I'm honestly surprised at how many people say, "Scroll Wheel Hag is basically cheating" at the end of my matches. lol

If I wait for a survivor to run riiight into my trap which I can see and teleport instantly and hit them does that mean you think I'm cheating lol

Nevermind the fact Hag players can easily just react to triggered traps quickly and get instant teleport hits just fine without macros

    I'm not buying this bait

Short answer: No, it really isn't.

Good luck banning people for something built into their keyboard/mouses actual hardware. Spoiler: You can't.
