Server hit validation... FOR WHAT?
Like, what kind of validation is it?
look at this and tell me. How hard is to stop awarding people for having bad connections behavior?
it seriously ruin the experience of playing survivor

Yup in all other games the game punish people with bad connection.
Dbd on the other hand rewards bad connection.
I've been hit by killers when not even in range and even as killer I can hug survivors and not getting a hit trough.
My ping is around 30 and my router is put un dmz so no bad connection on my end

Yep welcome to dead by daylight where the devs would rather update graphics, release unfinished chapters, and start half asing events instead of actually taking the time to fix one of the biggest problems in the game that has been plaguing the community for years now.
11 -
I Can agree I moved my xbox closer to my router and hits have been worse.

Do like me: Play something else.
Take a break from DBD untill they fix their game.

Putting your console closer or further from the router doesn't do that much tbh, unless your using wifi.
Tho a shorter cable does give you a few more mb/'s but that is barely noticeable.
Using port forwarding or putting your console in dmz will improve online quality, that together with a decent up and download speed.

I've been hit by killers facing the opposite direction when going through a window, the validation is just horrendous

One of the big reasons i just can't play or main survivor. i have 20-30 ping so every killer has an advantage over me, especially since 60-100 ping is quite common judging from the survivors pings i play against.

Couldn’t of said it better myself, this is what I’ve been saying for ages, if someone has ######### internet why should that be a problem for everyone else ? It’s their problem, punish them not everyone else
3 -
It's sad because as a killer you're actually *screwed over more* if you have good internet, which shouldn't be the case... It makes no sense.
With good internet, a killer might miss a window hit that a killer with worse ping will hit most of the time. Why is that a thing? Why are we being punished for having acceptable internet...?
I honestly believe that server hit validation didn't actually exist at this point. Or if it does, it's not actually coded to do anything. As survivor, I have yet to run into one situation where I think hit validation actually helped me, but had PLENTY of situations where I ask, "where's the hit validation there?"
2 -
If you think killers have it better, then just play killer then. I've seen some clips of killers missing 4 hits in a row, so it definitely affects both sides.

Ironic that you say "OuTpLAyED" while using Dead Hard.
Totally outplaying killers all day by pressing a button to get free distance and iframes, aren't you?
lol

Is hit validation back on (again)? I thought they disabled it shortly after turning it on for good because it was really broken.
1 -
They turned it on again.
0 -
oh great. How come it was better in the test than now?
0 -
I guess they're still analyzing the data.
0 -
It doesn't work. If you have good stable ping (mine is 32) and you're on a server full of laggers (cough EU cough cough) you can get dedicated hit just like before validation. VPN and lag switching hits still work the same.
0 -
I don't know what region you are from, but you do know there are multiple servers right?
US East (Ohio), US West (N. California), South America (São Paulo), EU (London), EU (Frankfurt), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Seoul), and Asia Pacific (Tokyo).

Who knows. I remember that one Dev saying that 150 Ping is "pretty good Ping". Who knows, maybe they thought that too many Killers got robbed of Hits, so now 250 Ping is "pretty good Ping"... At least this would be my guess that they made the validation a little bit more lenient after the test.
But it will not work as long as on EU Servers you have people from Russia playing who will have a high Ping without anything they can do about that (or similar regions where no Server is nearby).
The more they try to change anything the more it looks like Dedicated Servers have been a big failure. I would give up everything on Dedicated Servers, including Crossplay to have P2P back. The same things that were a problem with P2P are a problem on Dedicated Servers, plus Perks are not working correctly, sometimes Killer Powers are not working correctly... And against some Killers it is just worse, e.g. I hate to go against Huntress since Dedicated Servers, because often they are Russian, have a high Ping and you get easily hit around Corners.
At the very least they should show the Killers Ping in the Lobby, now you just see your own Ping, which does not help at all. (And for some reason, the Killer can see the ping of all Survivors, but not vice-versa...)

I was one of the few people that were against dedicated server, even before they released them. Most of the problems we have now, are because of dedicated servers, while it´s major selling point (prevent lag switching) seems to be still possible.
But most people fantasized how good the game would be with dedicated servers, while not realizing, that other games were designed with dedicated servers in mind.

I know. I play on EU Frankfurt. What did you mean exactly?

1.- Dead hard is being reworked soon already you don't need to complain
2.- Doesn't even work 70% of the times, not even with hit validation
4 -
By that logic you'll never be coming back to it lol.
3 -
Do you just hate every survivor who uses dead hard?
No reason to take away from the main point. Which was hit validation and not dead hard.
4 -
Oh hell those huntresses are the worst.
I've been hit by hatches at the shack where I was allready outside and even around the corner going to the window side.
She threw a hatched from the other doorway and still hits me all the way over there.
They had problems with huntress in the beta test where it didn't hit them apparently, and now they've overdone it and make them always hit you.
Thought maybe you played in the US or something and thinking you played on the same server with people from the EU.
That's what I meant.
But yeah like others say, people from Russia, Arabia, etc all have terrible pings with or without having control over it.
Kinda forgot about that tbh.
Those people imo are also the most toxic in my experience but that is another subject and not on topic
1 -
Tbh bhvr should have a good talk with ubisoft.
They had the same problem with rainbow six siege where people who had terrible pings gain advantage while people with good pings got punished.
They realised that and had changed some things and turned it the other way around.
Even went as far as where people who had a certain amount of high ping for to long were automatically kicked from the game.
And tbh i would mind to see that happen in dbd too, been against people with as high as 800 ping.
I can tell you that ain't fun as killer with around 30 ping.
So i really do hope they will try and gather some advice from ubisoft on how to fix their problems with the servers
1 -
killer should always be favored for hit validation. end of story.
the amount of grabs that cancel at 30 ping screams crappy coding. The only role that relies on and has a purpose for hit validation should take priority.
1 -
just saying that;s definitely your internet connection in most cases, high ping connecting to their servers and the killer sees you one place but for you and may have ran by them already. It's weird but i agree hit validation for what? killers have their own bs
0 -
No, it’s not.
65 ping is good ping and when I play against killer with good connection I don’t get hit through pallets or windows.
0 -
OK gotcha. My bad I wasn't too clear about my location. But I'm pretty paranoid about checking my ping in the lobby. Especially since about a year ago there was a bug for some time that would connect players to the wrong servers.
0 -
unless you have a ping monitor at all times, it could be you
0 -
"that's definitely your internet connection"
The killer was having a stroke to just place a fake pallet for like 30 seconds before picking up again the kate, while the rest of survivors were moving normally
Not to mention that OP didn't have the red/white high latency warning icon from the corner up left and showed that their ping was perfectly fine
the killer was clearly abusing high latency
3 -
You do realize that hit validation takes YOUR connection into account as well right? If you just so happen to get a spike or some packet lose then the hit will still look like BS on your end, but as far as the server is concerned it was a fair hit because the killer's ping when it happened was fine. Killer's ping isn't the only factor dude, yours is too and even if you normally have a good connection this is the internet dude, sometimes you get a lag spike IT HAPPENS TO EVERYONE.

Crazy I can play any other MP and not have as many issues that come with playing dbd.
Just curious, you don’t think the Amazon Cloud Based servers they use (that are meant for mobile games) has anything to do with it?
3 -
I never said their servers were or were not trash, I just said your connection is factored into the hit but it's not the authority like it was when they first tested validation. You're still gonna see hits every now and again that seem like BS, hit validation just makes it so that happens less often.
0 -
I hope so LOL.
But honestly my opinion doesn't changed that bvhr should sell the game to a competent company.
1 -
@Peanits can you maybe share some inside on this matter and what is going on?
Would be much appreciated to know what is happening with the validation and the hits that get rewarded to the person with the bad connection. 🤘

Try pressing ESC while in a match...
0 -
I mean, generally, yeah. Cause they are usually the first ones to complain about "omg killers do this git gud". You have zero right to complain while using "E to outplay". About literally anything.
0 -
Sure some survivors act like that but not everyone. I use dead hard( its a must have in one of my builds) but I don't act like that and don't complain a lot about killers.
0 -
Again - anyone using dead hard has zero right to complain about anything. Ever. That's my standpoint. E key users (or whatever button it is on consoles) have no valid opinions/gripes while they use E to outplay.
0 -
I don't think that's fair. People who use dead hard have complaints just as valid as people who don't. Why should a person not have the right to complain because they use a certain perk?
0 -
Last time I checked the eula there was no point about a perk that doesn't give a right to complain 😂
I play both sides and use dead hard and i don't care if I go against it
1 -
It is fair. Exhaustion is the single most problematic thing in DBD (aside from Head on and Adrenaline - since both either take setup or have to be earned). And no - Dead Hard users have zero valid complaints. Period. You do not, ever, under any circumstances get to complain about unfair gameplay, killer builds, killer addons etc when you use E to outplay. When you can learn to play the video game without needing the E crutch, you can complain.
0 -
I'm right. Zero right to complain.
0 -
idk man, you just have to play harder
0 -
Thats a Terrible way of thinking. Everyone has the right to complain about anything in this game. Weather or not they use dead hard is irrelevant. By your logic do killers who use noed not have a right to complain because, in your words, needs a crutch.
0 -
😂
Well I just stay in your own little world than and keep crying about a perk that kills your fun in dbd I guess than.
Whenever I complain than I suggest you better scroll down and don't read it.
Might be better before you get a heartattack😂

NOED has a counter. Dead Hard for Distance does not.
Not the same thing. Try harder.
0 -
Ok What about windows of opportunities, visionary, and Deja vu, undying. These are all crutch perks if you think about it. I guess players who use these perks have no voice or complaints.
(Dead harding for distance does have counters)
0 -
WIndows of opportunity has a counter - it's called map awareness. Anyone who knows tiles doesn't need it. Same with visionary. Deja Vu isn't in the meta, so moot point. Undying is a hex perk. It has a counter, and multiple perks/items/addons to facilitate said counter to it.
And no, a dead hard, for DISTANCE, has zero counter.
