The second iteration of 2v8 is now LIVE - find out more information here: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/kb/articles/480-2v8-developer-update

DbD feels like a free-to-play game.

FOMO? Check.

Battle pass? Check.

Too many paid DLCs? Check.

Ridiculous amount of grind? Check.

Expensive microtransactions and currency? Check.

Why make people pay to play when this game’s business model is like every other f2p game? Make the base game free and reduce the awful grind if you want to keep selling expensive microtransactions and pumping out buggy incomplete DLCs. Improve the game, attract more players.

I think they should really make it free to play. I mean for me it is bc of playstation plus.

So with the playstation plus gift two years ago they have data. They should know what impact making the base game free on their income has.

So i can think of two reasons why they dont do it.

    1. They would make less money in the long run

    Or

    2. Making it free after so many paid for it, creates too many problems

    1. But they have DLCs and in-game MTX.
    2. There are games that went free to play after they were paid. Rocket League is one recent example and they rewarded the players who owned the game before it went free. DbD can do something similar.

As much as I would love new game modes I also think the playerbase is too small for that. DbD has one game mode only and the queue times is long at times. If I were to choose between a new Chapter or a new game mode though I would definitely go for a new game mode. DbD came out 4 years ago after all and the gameplay can sometimes become dull after a while so a new game mode would be a nice change.

It's pretty upsetting that they choose to monetize the game so aggressively when just the price of the game and DLCs will run you like $150.

That being said, I don't see how making the game free-to-play benefits veteran players. I've already paid the price, and it would probably increase the amount of trolls and hackers. Although I fully agree they should reduce store prices across the board and reduce the grind.

Oh i dont care about adding any input. I didnt even read your long winded reply. I just wanted to suggest done play, theres tons of other games to play, if you dont like this ones set up, then dont play it. Show them that way.

If you don’t care then why did you click on this post, why did you read it, why did you feel the need to add your pointless comment? If you’re going to be rude and not bother reading other people’s replies, replies that actually contribute to the discussion because maybe you find reading too difficult then don’t bother at all. If you disagree with my post then say why. If you disagree but don’t have any reasons then simply don’t say anything. Move along. Go play a game or something. You’re clearly just one of those people who will respond with “then don’t play” in every post that criticizes the game and to every person that expresses a different opinion from you.

20 hours of playtime is not even halfway to 9000 shards, accounting for queue times it takes about triple that, significantly longer if you like playing survivor.

This might be a semi-unpopular opinion, but I think DbD would do great as a F2P game. With all the paid DLC, grindy nature, and battlepass, the experience would be largely the same except without the upfront game cost.

Who know, maybe if it was free, the userbase would moderately increase (amount of hackers unfortunately would increase too though)

I actually love the pass and challenges. That's why I still play. Some of the challenges do need looked at, though.

Even if it didn’t what is wrong with making a post that discusses these things? Why keep quiet? Or do you think the forum should only be filled with posts praising the devs and the game? This is what I think of the game and it seems a lot of people feel the same. Whether or not my criticism or anyone else’s will produce results is really up to the devs.

I would give valid input if i saw something worth responding to. But this thread is just exaggerated accusations from one of the most off putting communities. Yes your entitled to your opinion but people like yourself make these posts in a hard stance and refuse to discuss, people create these threads in an attempt to create an wcho chamber or circle jerk of their opinions, bit leaving no room for those opinions to change. I stand by my original statment of "Play something else" because if this game has you so ass-agitated, then go play something else , vote with your player count. Posting here achieves nothing.

MmmI don't think the absolute deluge of script kiddies that would flood the game if it went free to play would be worth it.

Keep in mind this is becoming the standard nowadays. Look at Call of Duty or Gears of War just for example. $60 games that have battle passes, weapon skins, character skins, lootboxes, absurd xp grinding systems, etc. Unfortunately these things are no longer unique to free-to-play games.

I hope DBD will never be free to play. As much as it would make sense given their business model, the cost of time and effort to develop a new account in the off chance a hacker gets actually banned, is the only thing keeping this game from being completely obliterated by hackers.

DbD’s battle pass system is one of the worst I’ve ever seen. The pop up notification you mention is indeed scummy. I also hate that the battle pass has so many empty spots, why not give us bloodpoints or shards? Also, why can’t we accept more than one challenges instead of having to accept and complete only one challenge at a time? The battle pass system and the challenges need rework. The bloodweb needs rework too if they don’t want to lose new players.

I agree that the latest DLC was a disaster, both very unfinished and full of bugs. A complete joke.

I don’t know what Gears of War is but CoD’s battle pass system is so much better than DbD’s. It’s not just filled with cosmetics, it also give you XP tokens and CoD Points. Also, the amount of quality content they release doesn’t compare. DbD is barebones with only one game mode, an awful battle pass and DLCs that are rushed and buggy.

At least let us accept a killer AND a survivor challenge.

The amount of times i forgot to change challenges when switching roles is ridiculous.

Such a simple QoL change and they weren't able to include this after 5 battlepasses
