HITBOXES ?
I know hitboxes on dead by daylight have been a problem for a while now but are the devs EVER going to actually try and make them good, i was kind of hyped for dedicated servers but honestly hitboxes are barely any better if i got $1 for every bad hitbox i'd be a billionaire. i've played as killer and survivor although i am really a survivor main and even from a killer perspective sometimes i should get hits that i don't and other times i hit a survivor through a window when they're just not close enough and i feel bad, DEVS PLEASE FIX THIS SH!T.

They are much better on the PTB for me. Vaults are definitely improved, the stutter doesn't happen anymore after vaulting.

Latency can never be 100% fixed. Hitboxes in dbd are actually completely correct and fine.

Wrong! I was on Haddonfield and jumped through a window and made it to the edge of the ledge to jump off. Freddy was still standing at the window and he recorded the hit. Hitboxes are very broken. My ping was green by the way.

Well that wasn't the hitbox. You were simply at the killer's grasp on his end and everything was working correctly for the killer.

Seriously? They dedicated a live stream to explaining the difference between hitboxes and latency. How about actually watching it. Most of the time it's people's sh*tty internet that's the problem, not the servers. I have a strong and reliable internet connection, and I rarely have an issue unless I'm connected to a far away server. People need to realise you can just use your crappy McDonald's wifi and expect everything to work fine.

Can some one explain to me, what’s the actual problem, because if it isn’t hitboxes than I dunno. My knowledge about that stuff it’s kinda poor but I don’t get it why a killer can hit me being a few meters away from me. Is it about my connection, someone’s connection, dedicated servers or what?

Vaults and hitboxes work good when everyone has around 60-90ms for me. When the killer has garbage net,everyone suffers for it except him. If the surv has a garbage net,he suffers for it himself. It's just a latency thing.

I agree that hitboxes in this game are bad. I mean how many times does it happen that you stand like 2 feet from a pallet, baiting the drop, only to then get stunned like somehow the survivor dropped it directly on you...like seriously those pallet hitboxes are ridiculous...
...In regards to killer hits, there's nothing wrong with the hitboxes. Hits are client sided on the killer side. Meaning that if in their screen they hit you, when that info reaches the server, the hit will be counted. So if a killer has bad ping, it will seem like they can hit you from further away. It is 100% a latency problem, not a hitbox problem. This has always been the case, even before dedicated servers, as far as i know.
For me its usually reasonable. Every now and then I get hit after a vault where i didnt expect it, and even more rarely i get hit through a pallet, or when in my screen the killer was just too far away. But usually I can take note of the latency in the match and adapt for subsequent chases. I believe if hits were not on the killer side it would probably break killer gameplay, making most of them almost unplayable.

False. A 'rough pill' around several different shapes with varying sizes is not 'completely correct and fine.' Look at any other video game in existence where hitboxes are a huge factor for reference. Hitboxes in DBD are the result of laziness or the developers not knowing how to program them in properly. Period.

Survivors 'hit' hitboxes are so damn tiny, all they have to do is jiggle a little and your lunge will miss! 360's never made me miss a lunge, now I can't land one on someone that tapped the A key! And forget using ranged killers at more than 60 ping, I mean DAMN... Huntress can do okay, but Plague? Deathslinger? DEMOGORGON? Hells, even Hag has issues!
Plus they've changed the way window hits work, now a fast vault is completely safe unless the killer is inserting themselves into your butt head-first! Great, remove SOME infinites and completely screw over killers with more than 60 ping.
Oh, wait, you were bitching about server latency, not hitbox interactions.... My bad... Oh, wait, I was doing the same thing but from the killers perspective... Oh, wait, hitboxes are fine, it's just server lag that makes wierd shite happen...

Thank u, if you’re right most of the killers that I get are having garbage connection, but the thing is when I’m loading to the match I get something around 90ms so technically it should be fine, but it isn’t. Maybe there’s something wrong with my connection? Dunno but this thing is pretty annoying.

Yeah,even if you have good ms to the server the killer could have alot worse connection or possibly vpning or doing something to slow down his connection unintenionally/intentionally and ur good ping doesn't matter alot then :3

Your point was about whether it was latency or hitboxes, not if it was fair that you get hit like that. I was just stating that it's usually a connection issue, and killers also have to have a good connection with the server.

It's fun to watch people who clearly have no technical knowledge try to do some deep analysis of events in the game.
"Some killer hit me when it didn't look like they were close to me, it must be that box of hit thing I heard about!! Never mind that it's actually not really a consistent thing, so it wouldn't make a lot of sense to blame it on an otherwise typically static element of each world object when a variable element like latency exists. No, it must be those damn boxes of hits! Those boxes are just full of hits and those killers get several boxes! Devs, nerf the boxes of the hits!"

Mine too. That doesn't mean I cant get hit through walls and pallets when the killer's ping is over 200ms

YOUR ping might be, but everyone as a whole is either 98 or 100 or higher. It's never under 50 anymore.

i've texted killers after the game and they say they had green ping under 40 ? care to explain that, the physical hitboxes still aren't right if you think they are you're r*tarded

the servers or hitboxes what ever it is is just trash! Even with green bar ping ... from this nonsense I’m currently on a 72 hour ban for dcing out Game , from a pig being hit by pallet & teleporting , through to the same side as me slaps me while they are still in stun animation... i let it slide I carry on playing 5 seconds later I vault a pallet run away from it by at lteast 5 steps no we’re near in the range to be hit and I get hit from the pig who is on the opposite side of the pallet ; it’s been like that slot recently if anything since the window update pallets and normal hits in general seem to be worse ; but hey even thoe the game is buggy / hitboxes are absolute trash you can’t dc oh no it’s toxic gameplay for the others on your team and the killers well what about what I Just Experienced ? Is that fair,
explain why I should stay in that game ? Explain why that killer should get a kill from BS hit boxes XD explain why I deserve 72 ban ? Oh because I dcd prior 2 days ago and 6 hours + game time later . I have played this game for 2+ years this game is Now becoming a joke.

Dedicated servers were overhyped. It always takes away hits against vaulting survivors and pallet campers. You get rewarded for bad connection.

Same goes true for getting hit after a vault through the window of a house in the first floor and you are already on the ground. At ping sub 50 that is.
