New Clown is going to get bullied hard
Unless you are a top-tier Killer, I fully suspect that the speed boost bottle will cause Clown players to have an even more miserable experience. Toxic Survivors will abuse the absolute hell out of it. I suspect there will be a surge of Clown players when the modifications are released followed by a dive back into obscurity.

"Unless you're a top-tier killer"
Do you mean if you're a good player? Because if so, aren't killers always talking about how the game needs to be "balanced around the best players". Unfortunately, if you don't meet the cut you'll just have to deal with camping & 1Ks.

BWAHAHA 🤣🤣🤣

No, I mean high level streamer. Tofu, Scott Jund, Umbra, etc. It will require an incredibly disproportionate amount of skill to counter a decent SWF group with new Clown.

I haven't been here in awhile. Seems like are the Clown king. You have any videos of you tearing up red rank SWF with Clown? I am honestly eager to see it.

Imaging Trapper can switch between bear trap & trampoline. Where Trapper lay a trampoline so he can quick access to 2nd floor.
Chased survivor jumps to 2nd floor, another survivor disarm the trampoline before Trapper can reach it.

Throwing the antidote is going to be completely optional though? If you see that you don't know how to throw the antidote in an effective way you can simply NEVER switch bottles and always use the regular bottles, so the only change that will influence you is the fact that the reload speed now is faster, do you think player's experience will be more miserable for that?

Exactly.
And there already exist Clown mains that decimate teams in red ranks. They’re just currently rare.

Dude, new Clown will just be old Clown with a faster reload and an OPTIONAL secondary effect. If you think it will take a “disproportionate amount of skill” to use then don’t use it. Just use slowdown bottles and Clown will be the same as he is now, with a faster reload (i.e. buffed).

last time i played clown 4k, time before that 4k, time before that , also 4k.

No he isn't. The fact you say this makes me think you're a purple/green rank or lower player. People like you need to just shhhh.
1 -
true it requires skill, but whats wrong with that ? xD , and trust me theres nothing more satisfying than 4k'ing an swf with clown xD

I dont think so. In general, I guess the new gas will be an improvement for Clown. While the Afterpiece Tonic could be thrown around like nothing, throwing the Antidote like a Madman will result in having a bad game as Clown. But being more careful with it, will probably be an improvent.
(e.g. the Antidote does not go into effect immediatly, so you can throw it to the Survivors and they will have no effect, but the cloud will be yellow when you walk through it...It is a matter of getting the timings right)

You can just play him like before with normal slowdown bottles. Faster reload but no S-tier addons like Pinky Finger and Solvent Jug. He was already an ok killer and now he is more or less the same. If you are a bad Clown player you will still get bullied of course.

I for one am very excited. At worst, he has an add-on pass, a buff to mobility, and a buff to reloading. At best, he's going to be able to play formerly safe tiles and get rid of that awful, awful "counterplay."

I mean i don't know.... If you see a survivor far away you can throw antidote, get the speed boost and be on his ass faster. I'm actually excited, and i just can't hide it. Good clown players who knew how to make good throws might be in heaven in a few weeks

Seems like the antidote will just be used for mobility? Like just throw them in front of you so you can get across the map and then business as usual? Not really a huge change but better than nothing along with faster reload. Tbh though, he will probably just move up to the bottom of the next tier, but still will not be a top killer. Kinda meh.

"Clown rework"
Expectation: An actual rework, like freddie.
Reality: An extra bottle and reload buff.
And this took them 8 months, nice.

If every survivor is expected to play like the best survivors in the game, then every killer should be expected to play like the best killers in the game.

How are survivors meant to abuse the speed bottle? It's not like they can make you throw it. If you throw a bad antidote and it benefits the survivor, then that's on you.
Don't get me started on Freddy's rework, that was a crime against him. A Freddy rework on Clown would be like taking his tonic and giving him a gun instead. Boring, and it would take away what makes him the killer he is.

I mean sure, but atleast he DID got actually reworked. This just feels like a buff.

"toxic survivors will abuse the hell out of it"
so every survivor who abuse something because the game is giving the features is toxic?
ohhh boi

The changes havent even been tested yet, chill out

Too early to tell. Though using the antidotes mid chase could be questionable, we'll just have to wait and see.

dont go to the circus tomorrow

Yep. Loved playing as old Freddy. Yeah he had a significant weakness. But really they just needed to tweak his power a little bit instead of a complete rework where they gave him a ton of artillery. Oh well though.
I like playing as clown as well, looking forward to the rework as it doesn't seem as drastic.

"This change to the killer will make them underpowered" is usually one week post-update away from 'this change made the killer absolutely OP'
1 -
Yeah, Clown's just getting tweaks to his power and extra mechanics on top, which is what a rework should do. That's what they did with Doctor and Bubba. I miss the Old Freddy :(

No, wait, I think you guys missed one important point: gas in yellow bottles isn't active right away. You can throw yellow bottle at surv, then he runs out from it, but it will be active by the time you walk inside it. At the same time, if you do it in loops, you can combine it with purple bottles. This will nullify the effect. But only for survs, because as we remember, Clown isn't affected by purple gas.

Plus if youre afraid of survivors getting a speed boost just use a tonic to negate it when youre done with it

If you also walk into it you'll actually have technically gained distance on them. It's 10 percent of your current speed (assumedly including pwyf and noed and such) and clown has higher movement speed than survivors so you move extra extra fast, if that makes sense. There's really no way to abuse this as a survivor. However, some loops may be affected by in in really unpreeictable and weird ways. We'll have to wait and see.

this really is a non-issue.
Assuming a player can't understand when and how to use the antidote bottle, they can just stick with the toxic one, and benefit from the almost 50% reload speed increase.

So my idea for the new clown: Speed Demon Clown, starring Play with your Food and Nemesis. +10% for the antidote, +15% from Play with your food, clown be zooming at a cool 140% movement speed (without bloodlust)
