New UI Complaints
Why is everyone complaining about the UI? Sure it's new and things are not where they used to be but once you get used to it you'll get over it.
Also they even said that it is not the final version so why are so many people still bitching about it? There's people complaining about the hook counter like really? lol It's literally there to help you keep track of who got hooked x amount of times. Even if you don't care about it it's still a pro not a con.

I don't get the hate, either.
I think my only complaint would be the portraits look generic, meaning our cosmetics won't matter so my Meg won't actually look my Meg portrait.

Most people are fine with the additions they added, just not the new placements of existing information.
By all standards, it's an objectively crappy design. Why is Generator count now at the top middle of the screen? Why are the Survivor indicators in the top left? What was wrong with having these elements concisely placed in the bottom left?
Having to look all around your screen for different intel when it all used to be place neatly in one place is what people are complaining about.

I hate that it's covering my vision in a big way, I hate that it's not all in one general area that I can glance down to and instantly get all the I do I want, and I don't like that it's using character portraits instead of those adept symbols that that one concept picture had.
Those are my complaints, in order of how much of a complaint they are.

People are complaining because it is bad. There's no two ways about it, it sucks. Why are my eyes now having to look in 7 different directions when I used to have to look at most in 3?

I'll wait to see how it feels when I use it, but the version they showed on stream looked unfinished to me. Kind of like they have an item on their to-do list saying that they need to re-arrange the placement of the HUD items so that they can add stuff in the future, so they did that, but no one really paid attention to how it looks.
As others have said, I'm also not a fan of splitting everything up instead of having it in one place, but we'll see. Maybe it'll be okay.

Thats actually what I think, usually UI stays on the same side to make it easier to look at.
You look at bottom left? Right, you see all info at once.
Now the info is harder to catch.

The survivor portraits look like a parody of the Discord in-game overlay, I prefer them in the bottom left corner if I'm being honest.

Because it looks bad. The new HUD looks straight out of a mobile game and these portraits are ugly. Doesn’t suit the game at all. This one made by someone in the DbD community looks way better:

Why doesn't the killer side UI let you know who hooked and how many times?
5 -
Anyone who knows anything about graphic design or just has common sense can tell you that taking a big fat information diarrhea over someone's screen is not helping anyone.
Function over form, and this has neither.
2 -
They are probably worried the killer would use that info to tunnel someone out of the game.

I can see what they were trying to do but it is done poorly. This way you know who is who but they need a better method. Instead of having 3 images in the same part of the screen they could just use the character faces and for the injured stay have blood over them, for downed change the headshot to a banged up/defeated portrait and turn it to a hook icon when hooked.
No need for a character head, healthy/injured/dying state next to it and a tiny tally till death in the upper corner.

Why is everyone complaining? Let me show you :)

Good lord, this is what I want to see.
2 -
Oh wow, that looks so much better.

i just hope the size settings will be good and there should even be different settings for different elements.
overall I prefer the new approach to the old one, don’t know why people liked the clutter on the bottom left...
those icons would definitely be better than the portraits. The current Quentin portrait will make me not play as him as often...

Please keep everything bottom left, we don't need the whole screen cluttered with nonsense that could stay perfectly where it has been for years, the less is more approach works much more in our favor and POV.

they want feedback so complaining is the right thing to do.. also its only the placement that is very bad.. if they revert the UI to the old placement but keep the hook counter and the new icons it will look great

They should just let us have the option to move the different bits of info, like if you're a guy that wants it all top left, then you can move it all up there.
Are you an OG guy? Bottom left it is.
Or if they're actually gonna keep it this way, let us please atleast be able to switch UIs, so you can go back to the old one.

Complaining and giving feedback are not the same thing though.
just saying ‚I hate it devs alway make things worse‘ doesn’t do any good. Saying what you don’t like and why and how you think the old system worked better is way more constructive. (Not saying you were complaining here, just referring to your first sentence.

And the funny thing they claim that they didn't forget streamers and left so graciously one part for their camera. You would think they watch streamers or do streams and knows how much information a streamer displays on screen. Apparently, they don't or just forget about that.
I am genuinely curious why they needed this confusing, not beneficiary design. Why I need to look so many different places to get the same information I used to get when only I looked one place.
Just press ESC and see who is who in the game, if you were too busy in pre-match lobby. Why you go out of your way just to put some ridiculous pics of survivors.
It feels like this is designed by someone who hasn't even played the game yet.

I just wake up and the first thing I see on Reddit is people talking about the new DBD HUD. I hadn't seen the changes, and found a screenshot from someone.
and boy, does it look so bad.
why does it look like i'm in a discord call with the survivors? what is that little hook counter with no info other than some bars around the circle? why is the generator counter floating by itself at the top?
and lastly: who thought this was a good idea?
I really don't want to be super negative, but there is almost nothing good (imo) about the new design. It didn't need to be changed, nobody has ever complained about how it looked before, and yet this is what the devs do... the only complaints about it that i've ever seen were people wanting an added totem counter, or the ticks for how many times each survivor has been hooked. we didn't want this.
I know some people like it, but even more people dislike/hate it. we didn't want this.

This 100%. As soon as I heard about the changes I thought "I hope killers don't see who is about to be dead on hook!" because I KNOW it will one hundred percent lead to tunneling to whittle the game down to 3, 2, 1 survivors. Killers absolutely should be forced to use some short term memory to figure out who would be optimal to tunnel if they want/need to rather than having it handed to them.
On survivor side, I do support them receiving easier knowledge of who is about to be dead on hook because it is a solo survivor buff. SWF is easy to remember and plan around, while solo is much more difficult to keep track of other survivors.

Learning a new UI is a trivial matter. It's not even worth complaining about.
My issue is that I don't like having so much stuff scattered around the screen. I want to see the game, not the HUD. I know you can scale the elements down, but there is absolutely no reason to scatter the elements in 5 different parts of the screen. Keep everything in one corner at the bottom and that's perfect.
Those elements at the sides of the screen are going to be a ######### for killers because they will create blind spots where survivors might go unnoticed, even if you scale the UI down.
2 -
But why did they decide to scatter everything around the screen? I did not know this was something the community asked for.

If this is what they feel, I feel a lot of the complaints are just lame.
1: "Looks unimportant" I'd much rather this as a person who knows what it is that something taking up more space. Sure, maybe newer players won't notice it or think much of it, but, so? Will knowing what it is change what it does? Nope
2: Hook counts are shown for the survivor side, keep it that way for the killers who lose track of who to tunnel. They didn't really approve of using voice chat in the game original, why would they think about helping that? Agreed on the pushing it farther left.
3: They explained it as kinda a morality booster for killer side, like instead of only seeing survivor objectives get done, you get a nice counter of how you as the killer are doing, very neat but could possibly be moved a bit.
4: I don't see why it seems outta place, and the negative space means more vision for the killer. Very clean!
5: Don't understand the complaint, nothing to say.
6: :D
7: Hecka realavant, I'd like to know things like If I need to be abusing the power a bit to get more Devious. Also why the "Missing Status effects" 100% sure they're there, just that image they're not currently affected with anything? Lmao
8: Why? Why were we looking at the bottom before for gen counts? Why aren't they on the left? Right? Just an odd complaint.

i have 3 key complaints with it:
1) by scattering the HUD all over my screen they make it harder for me to gather ingame informations that i can get with a single look currently.
2) i fear that the scattered HUD is going to cover up too much of my screen. currently the HUD leaves ~the top two third of my screen completely free, which is what i mainly use for gameplay purposes (excluding the Hex HUD and the EGC timer). by scattering it all across the edges of my screen i fear they are going to reduce my vision enough to miss potentially important information. a slight movement in the corner of my eye, a crow taking off in the distance, etc.
3) this is more speculation, as i havent seen it entirely in action yet, but should they really have updated the survivors injured status with a red blinking portrait of said survivor, that is going to be very distracting throughout the trial. just imagine injuring all 4 and suddenly you have 4 bright, red blinking dots on the top left of your screen (which i do plan on using for gameplay purposes) that i cant get rid of.
and none of these complaints are present with the current HUD.
so basically they switch out a perfectly fine HUD that no one had any issues with for one that is, at least in my (and many others) opinion, a much inferior version of it that therefore looks a bit cleaner.
they should just have improved the current HUD we have. none of the changes that were announced so far require any of the drastic HUD changes they did.
also it just looks like a mobile game. im sorry, but it does.
