Question for Hillbilly Mains
Those of you Billy mains that stuck with him after the nerf, I have a question. How long did it take you to become a very good Billy? I've picked him up seriously recently and I want to know how long I'm going to be in for.

It took a bit. Learning the movements of him. For me it took 3 months to fully understand and master him. His nerf state it took me about a week to find good add on combo. Tip control add ons are really the only good ones everything else sucks and its not worth using.

To at least get good it won't take you too long but to master will take some good time.

He’s not difficult to pick up imo as he has insane mobility and an instant down. Although, he has a lot of tools and tricks that need practice that make him a hard killer to master.
Hillbilly is definitely my 2nd most played killer behind Spirit and I would say that mastering Billy takes time. I can’t say exactly how long it will take because I’m not sure what kind of player you are, but I would say a few months until you master him. He’s very fun and rewarding, just keep practicing him and you’ll get there.

I am not a hillbilly main anymore but used to main him both pre and post buff phase (Rank 1).
It is not a matter how long you have to master him but rather how you spend your time trying to learn him. Watch Pro Hillbilly players from YouTube to learn what you could do better. Watch how they play and try to learn from that. That's the fastest way to grow with any killer. Then it is only a matter of applying what you have learned to use in your own game.
Hillbilly is all about speed. He is the fastest killer able to travel great distances in few seconds, thus perks that give you awareness of where survivors are can make a great difference for hillbilly as he is able to take advantage of that information and go to where other killers would not dare to waste their time to walk.
Also, do not try to force a chainsaw kill. More often than not it can be just as beneficial to just injure the survivor and let them go and go give pressure elsewhere while they waste time healing. Or if not, at least next time they will be easier to down.
Hope you get your Hillbilly game improved, he can be a really powerful and fun killer if you know how to play him right.

Thanks for the advice! I've been watching OhTofu play Billy and taking what he does into my games. I've gotten some curves but I got a long way to go

The two things you'll want to practice is backrevving and flicking. The former is important because it allows you to better deal with survivors who try to 360 you and the the latter is needed for mind games and catching people off guard.

I don't main him anymore but used to for a very long time, it took a while probably like 50 hours? But that is to curve and stuff, since the nerf I can't curve as easy just hang in there you will be fine, you will get used and you have a very solid build already so it is fine.

Bamboozle could also be a strong substitute for infectious fright. Especially if he's learning Billy.

May I recommend watching "not Otzdarva". His skills in DBD are absolutely amazing and he even sometimes makes great lengthy videos explaining strategies surrounding perks, survivors, and killers from which beginners and average players can greatly benefit from. Even a red rank player such as myself has had plenty of new tips and tricks learned from him.
