Since ranks aren't important, why do people start their arguments by saying their ranks?

To start this conversation off properly, I'm a Rank 1 Killer. With that out of the way, no they aren't important.

because while rank isnt important, a LOT of people think it is which leads to a lot of the complaining this forum contains.

It's like- I don't want to do that, but every single time I bring up an opinion that's survivor sided, or not completely killer biased, I get accused of never having played killer at a high level and being an entitled survivor main.
It's funny bevause I play more killer than survivor.
So apparently, for my arguments to have any sort of merit whatsoever, I have to prove that I play killer. This was originally through ranks but that wasn't enough anymore so I got told to stream it, and apparently that wasn't enough because the survivors I faced weren't good enough for my arguments to have merit (at rank ######### 1 mind you) so I have up with that dude but, usually, it's because if you don't somehow prove that you play killer to a "high standard" your opinion is invalid.
Even though ranks mean nothing and matchmaking is scuffed and you can very easily hit rank 1 with a stridor spirit.
It makes no sense to me either.

Ranks don't matter to a degree. Most red ranks are going to be better than most brown ranks obviously.
However ranks are like.....Imagine if skill was measured in this game on a scale of 1 to 12 lets say. The current ranks basically go
1 2 3 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 ...... It just stagnates. You can have a red rank with 100 hours still clueless to most aspects of the game, and some major streamer at the same rank who 4ks like 50 games in a row.
Most of the people saying they are red ranks is pointless because most of the community spends time in red ranks; it's just some weird paranoia thing that if you are not red rank no one will take you seriously. Granted a lot of the narrow minded people are often why people feel that in the first place.

Because low ranks are nothing but inexperienced players.
And like 1% of red ranks are actually good players. When someone tells you they are red ranks, all that means is that they have more than like 35h into the game.

I remember a Thread where someone said that people who would disagree with him are Rank 10-Killers at best. So I wrote that I am Rank 1 as well, he did not believe me. I posted a Screenshot, he still said there is no guarantee that this is me (my ingame-Name is the same as here).
Reaching Rank 1 on either side is indeed not hard, but whenever you disagree with someone, it is suddenly important that you are Rank 1.

Probably out of habit.
Once upon a time it used to hold credibility as it used to be much more difficult getting to red ranks, and subsequently holding that rank.
I.e. Getting to red ranks as old Freddy had WAY more prestige than getting to red ranks with current Freddy.

I think I understand where you’re going with this... maybe...
I guess it’s like how I regularly reclaim rank 1 as Clown after resets, and how I used to do the same with old Freddy before his rework.

Same idea. People with a stubborn ego like that are rarely if ever going to admit when they are wrong. It's just going to be deflection after deflection and then they will either stop responding; or say some dumb absolute, or just start name calling/repeating themselves louder and louder.
