I feel like I made this before but idk.
But should I use object in solo? Is it a good idea or is it terrible and I should not go within 30 feet of the perk?
My main concern is with stealth killers and I don't know how to handle them when using object.
The killer will think you are swf and tunnel you. Its a decent perk when you know how to use it and you are a good looper, but its only really strong when you use it with communication.
It hard counters some killer like trapper and makes it no fun for the killer.
If you want to get tunneled every game.
Save yourself the trouble, don't
If you are confident in chase, go ahead. You might look a bit silly sometimes, but overall I'd say it will help you improve, as you will get chased more often. It's actually pretty good in solo queue if you know how to use it, as knowing where the killer is gives you information, and information is everything in solo q. So I would say go for it, it'll help you learn, and provides useful information.
As for stealth killers, there are things you can do. Object acts as a somewhat risky Spine Chill while a killer is undetectable. While you can't see the killer aura at this time, Object will still light up when you are looking in the direction of the killer. A quick camera spin every so often will help to locate the general direction of the killer, but be careful because obviously the killer may see you as well.
Against stealth killers it works like Spine Chill, but at a greater range, with the downside the killer know exactly where you are.
If you don't mind ranks, why not? You'll put yourself in a position you'll have to learn to loop better. Either the killer will ignore you and save you for last or you'll have consective chances to improve your chases. So, if you feel like it, why not? You can even put No Mither with it (I wouldn't, but I played No MIther on solo the other day and it wasn't so bad, except I was camped everygame hahahaha)
It's a strong perk. You could always run spine chill with it, or just try to "feel" them out by scanning the area and seeing the direction the perk light up at.
But uh.. you might get tunneled or ignored.
Is it just me or does anyone else get avoided entirely when using object? I'll use it when playing solo, and killers straight up ignore me and save me for last if we are slow on gens.
There's a good chance of a tunnel since OoO is often frowned upon.
The people saying OoO is like Spine Chill vs stealth killers is bothering me slightly. Spine Chills is the Killer looking at you not you looking at the Killer. OoO vs Stealth is more like an always on Premonition.
But yeah, I'd say don't use OoO in Solo. It can work, but you are likely to get targeted by the Killer because they don't know you aren't in a SWF and feeding your mates info constantly.
Only if you are a god player to raise the survive stats on that perk, so that BHVR notices that something needs to be done with this perk
that's because this is the most valuable play. if you drop whatever you are doing to chase someone 40m or more away that is able to perfectly prepare for that chase and extend it another 20 seconds before even chase music starts, then you are pretty much throwing the game. as killer you also get the information what the obsession is doing, and unless the obsession is sitting on a gen and you have no other clear target, it is most likely more valuable to go for another obvious and less prepared target or check some critical gens.
just had the case recently where I hooked someone in front of the cowshed (which is pretty big) and the OoO was standing on the other side of the shed. staring at me. I ran around one way, he went the other way, I switched directions, so did he. then I decided to just stand near the hook and stare back. he was not doing anything, the guy on the hook was dying, and if they were not SWF, probably a third person would be coming too and do nothing. Chasing him would be wasting time, he would always have had like 30m distance, also allowing an easy unhook once we were around the house once. Then he understood, came closer and at least gave me a decent chase option, which I then accepted.
This was basically the same bad play like the slug under hook tech like "you cant get me", and he luckily noticed it.
nothings stopping u, ive been using object for months on end whenever im playing surv and from my experience i get ignored a lot more games than i get tunneled/camped, also its a good perk for improvement if thats what ur looking for
People are gonna talk out our hatred here. So only use it if you want to loop more. You also risk being ignored which may also help. So use it give it a try bit find out if you like it because going fur saves and healing is gonna be hard
Don't forget No Mither. Its combo with OoO is quite deadly.
Deadly for me or the killer?
When I finally got OoO, I ran it for a few games, once with a 3 person SWF. It was really helpful knowing where the killer was when I wanted and I never got tunneled. In the SWF, one of my friends ran it also. So even if I was in the middle of the map, she give tell me where the killer was in relation to me.
As killer, I usually ignore the person. If I happen to come across them, I'll down and hook them, but they get no more special treatment than any other survivor. Here's why: If it's solo Q, then it doesn't matter, they aren't calling out my movements to anyone, it's just a personal information perk (a very powerful one). If they are in a SWF, it's only marginally more helpful. Typically one survivor is in a chase at any one time (the exception being when the game first starts.) A SWF will communicate the killer is "on me" and everyone in his group will know anyways.
That's how I view it. I think it is overpowered, I think it should have a cool down (once you look away, you cannot use the ability for 60/50/40 seconds. I think that would be a small nerf to it.)
Only if you're confident you can loop well. It's a great perk, but it can reach its best potential when you have an easy way to communicate its information (SWF). I get 20 SoloQ survivors bringing object and staring at me the entire time, who can't loop for crap. Occasionally, I get some that are better at looping than me, so I just ignore them. Sure, they know where I am, but so do I, so I can just harass them off of gens whenever I'm bored.
I main pig a lot, so I usually take OoO as a blessing. Sure, they know what direction you're in, but if you move ever so slightly to the right or left, you can trick them into taking your horizontal misplacement for leaving the range, thinking you're farther away than you actually are.
TL;DR, Object has a lot of information, but you need to know how to process and apply that information very well. The killer knowing where you are will meaning nothing if you know how to loop, zone, and anticipate their moves.
