Questions for other survivors...

Why do you complain about being found first when as soon as you spawn you start sprinting everywhere?

Why do you loop near the hook your team mate is on?

Why do you open the gates when the killer is nowhere near you?

Why are you allergic to totems?

Why don't you crouch when you unhook against a hag?

Why do you still drop that pallet after you get hit?

Why do you self care under pallets when a team mate is being chased nearby?

Why do you feel the need to heal 10 times a match?

    • I don't sprint everywhere and sometimes I get found first.
    • I don't loop near a hook a teammate is on.
    • Because that's the best time to open them and I can get the hell out of there. would you rather people wait until the killer is right next to them?
    • I'm not, I actively look for them.
    • I do that and the people still run off setting off the trap anyway.
    • I'm usually dropping it as I get hit so yeah.
    • I don't use self care
    • because healing others gets you more points and takes points away from the killer

Are those the answers you wanted?

Sprinting is the fastest way to move around the map. If there’s no killer around, it doesn’t really matter, and I should know I am a mighty level 18 survivor.

    1. I don't Sprint everywhere at the beginning. At most I say oops or curse my rng if I happen to be found first

    2. I don't usually unless there's a strategic reason.

    3. There are reasons to do it when it makes sense. Unless I get really bored of a match or hate my team, then I'm gone.

    4. Not really allergic. I just don't go out of my way to hunt for them outside of if I need to hunt for them.

    5. Very rarely but sometimes ppl make mistakes.

    6. Lag/accident/latency.

    7. I don't.

    8. I don't.

On the Exit Gates one I think the OP was talking about fully opening the gate instead of ninety-nineing it so as not to trigger perks that care about the EGC.

I fully admit to Nope!ing out of trails as soon as I can but that was when I was working on Survivor Adepts or specific challenges that required escaping that way. When not doing either of those I will ninety-nine a gate and then run off to try and do some totems or find a chest or save someone from the hook and what not.

The only other time I'll Nope! out as fast as I can is when NOED is in play and I've no idea where the totem is.

a lot of the perks trigger when the gates are powered up. not when they open. blood warden is the only one I can think of that requires an open gate. NOED activates as soon as the last gen is done.

    1. Because i could be hidden and not running and the killer still beelines for me.

    2. Usually because the killer suddenly came back or was camping with Undetectable when i go to save.

    3. I dont do this

    4. Im not allergic, i just dont actively look for them because im mote likely to run into the killer than the totem.

    5. I crouch, its the guy i unhook that doesnt

    6. Usually because i dropped it before i got hit, but still git hit anyway somehow.

    7. If i can heal quick enough and im fine on hook amounts and theyre not i can take a hit and maybe aggro for them

    8. Cause i cant loop very well.

I used to be found first a lot but not so much anymore.

I don’t loop near the hook if I can help it.

I 99 but don’t open the gates unless the killer is near or I’m injured and on death hook.

I do totems almost every time I see them.

I do crouch when I unhook against a hag.

Sometimes i misjudge the distance, sometimes I panic, most of the times I just don’t drop pallet.

I don’t remember the last build I ran self care in.

Don’t run self care so I don’t heal. Unless you mean healing teammates then hell yeah! Autodidact all the way!

    1. I make sure they don't find me so easily and if they do, I stick to windows and loops without trying to waste a pallet and make the most of the windows.
    2. I never do, that is putting the partner's 2nd hook at risk or even more so that they find their altruist.
    3. I never open them, I always make sure to leave the door 99% while not with me, to help someone who is injured or being chased.
    4. Whenever I see one I purify it, but first the gens, then I purify.
    5. I crouch when I am near the hook, if I have a flashlight I don't do it, but if not, I crouch and hope that whoever is on the hook does the same so that he is not discovered.
    6. I do not drop them, they are a limited resource and I prefer to take advantage of the windows than to throw pallets like crazy.
    7. I never do it.
    8. The first time he hits me or hooks me, I heal, if we are at 5-3 gens, I do gens first to 2-1 to feel somewhat safe.

Cuz walking is wasting time. In confident on myself that I can run the killer for a solid minute (if is not a spirit with stridor)

Most of these are things that just come with experience. You can't blame someone for not knowing. However, doing dull totems is an objectively bad idea unless you know your teammates are being productive in some way. Even if NOED pops, it's better to know where it might be (or just leave some poor soul to die, even it that poor soul is you) than get everyone killed by not doing gens.

    • I don't complain, if you find me, game on. Also been found numerous times b/c of another survivor running near me and bringing attention.
    • I don't.
    • I don't. There is absolutely 0 reason to open the gates early when you know a teammate is in a chase or about to be hooked.
    • I'm not. I actively look for them, and in most cases, I'm the one who seems to be cleansing them/hexes.
    • I do. But that doesn't stop a bad teammate from running off immediately and triggering the traps that they saw Hag put down.
    • I 9/10 times don't. But the pallet to hit system is wacky. I've dropped it on killers who would teleport to the other side and then back to the original side. It is a faulty system.
    • Don't run self-care, there's no reason for it unless you aren't confident. Teammates should and will heal you. And thats what medkit is for.
    • I don't, but I'd rather not be 1 hit for the killer and would rather prolong the chase even more with 2 hits so my team can get gens done.

    SentinelCaptain Member Posts: 234

I would like to add "Why do you immediately sabotage the hook we spawed next to?" Or am I the only one who has been stuck with someone like that?

    As for the others:

    1. I don't, but I will curse my luck if I hear that heartbeat within the first 10 seconds.

    2. I can't loop for #########.

    3. Unless I have a friend in the match, I'm concerned about getting my tail out, the rest if you are fair game.

    4. Priorities and convenience, if I find one better to cleanse it now than risk NOED, but I'm not scouring the map for them unless it's something like Ruin or Huntress'.

    5. It's always the person I save that triggers it.

    6. Nope, keep running and try to break LoS, unless I am certain I can get the stun.

    7. I don't, I find a corner or at least decent cover.

    8. I see no sense in walking around injured any longer than necessary unless you're running perks that benefit from it. Always better to be at full health, even against instant down/expose killers. You're easier to find when you're injured.

Basically this except I only heal people who want to be healed, I'll heal myself with a med kit in a dire situation or get healed by someone else to execute a risky save!

Im rarely playing survivor, but one of your questions is adressed to me. Why are you allergic to totems?

Yes, i'm allergic to totems. Why? We are not choose which desease we want to be sick with.

I don't care about dull totems, but if it glows, it goes. If it's haunted grounds, well, #########. But most of the time it's something else. Now, when undying is almost nerfed, dull totems is only worth cleansing if killer has noed. I'd just take my chances instead of wasting valuable time on totems and not gens. And sometimes I'm allergic even to lit totems. When teammate is around, I may show him a totem and go to gen.

All the rest of your questions are not about my playstyle.

  • WretchedElk
    WretchedElk Member Posts: 311

Is it worth cleansing dull totems? I have been doing it, because some hex’s can transfer or don’t start until the end game.

A lot of people here seem to think it’s a waste of time.

    • I actually don't go sprinting everywhere. If I'm found first I was surely on a gen and I don't care about it. If I don't wanna be found first, you can be sure I won't haha
    • I don't loop near hooks, so I don't complain about it. But if the killer is camping, I may start the chase there to lead him away.
    • If my teammates were clearly sandbagging me through the match, I'll go and leave them to their luck to return the favor.
    • Have you seen the new totem spots? They're nasty. Hidden inside objects that are also hidden in tall grass. There are totems you can't see if you don't have a map or Detective's Hunch. But if I was chased good part of the game, I can't use Detective. Or sometimes the killer is facecamping with an instadown killer and everybody is switching hooks. You can't prioritize totems in that scenario. The team may have more chances against NOED. It depends on the match. But if everyone is on the same level and the killer doesn't have Undying to show the auras, we can go through totems if I can find them and/or they're not glitched. It also depends.
    • Maybe they're still learning?
    • This doesn't happen to me on PC, but on PS4 if I press R1 to drop the pallet before being hit, but I don't make it to the pallet, it usually doesn't cancel the input and drop it after I was hit. I hate this input lag, but it's there. It may be this or it's just despair on someone who's still learning to play.
    • Good question.
    • Heal self or other people? Because it can be a mission or challenge and besides that each trial is a trial. It may be a smart move or not, depending on the role you're playing. I got matched with a Zarina in a game that saved the person that was being camped, healed. Then saved the next one and healed. Meanwhile I was doing gens or being chased, but we all made it through that, so it was a good play and she had perks to save people and heal. It depends.

It's always worth to cleanse them. You don't want to be that guy that looked at a dull totem and didn't feel like cleansing it even tho it's a free 1k points, and then the killer have noed.

Because not everyone is that good at playing survivor. Yes some of us know these things but a lot just simply don't and the problem is dbd loses just as many old players as new ones that start playing which means you're always going to be paired with newer solo survivors at most ranks ( I got rank 5 by day 3 when I started).

The sad reality is solo life is painful and no matter what we're always going to get paired with survivors less experienced than us so we either play SWF or we just have to deal with it and accept that it is what it is.

New MMR soon though I mean last time they tried it was not good at all but we can only keep our fingers crossed and see what happens.

  • Marigoria
    Marigoria Member Posts: 6,090

Last time with MMR me as a red rank solo surv was getting rank 10-20 team mates. No thanks.

  • Kirkylad
    Kirkylad Member Posts: 1,927

I was the same when it went live but we can only hope it works otherwise we're just gunna have to accept that we're gunna get paired with newer players sometimes.

By opening the Gate you trigger the EGC and that timer makes it hard for some people to escape if they are on the other side of the map from the two Gates with the Killer between them. By not opening the Gate until you need to do so you allow others the chance to get closer to the hatch or find the Hatch.

Ninety-nine the gate unless you're about to be downed by the Killer. The only reasons to open it right away when you don't know where everyone else is if you are on your death hook or are trying for an Adept. That and being a jerk, and you shouldn't want to be a jerk.

Only think I can think of as to why, that, and they don't know the hooks respawn.

  • Ivaldi
    Ivaldi Member Posts: 977

No I don't. I spawn in the killers terror radius and sometimes spawn looking directly at the killer.

Because I want to witness the look on their face when the entity eats them.

I'm not allergic, I just cant find the one totem that's hidden inside that bush on Dead Dawg Saloon.

Because I have a flashlight.. Click Click

Wasn't me.. The Killer threw it down.

No one runs self-care in 2021; I'm using a medkit under that pallet.

Because I can and I want the points :)

Why do you complain about being found first when as soon as you spawn you start sprinting everywhere? I don't, someone is going to be found first I have a 1/4 shot of it being me. I do think it's bs that when I'm loading into match I can hear the killers terror radius while the camera is spinning but when that happens I tend to find cover to figure out which direction the killer is coming from.

Why do you loop near the hook your team mate is on? I run to other side of the map to give other survivors shot at a safe hook. If I'm near hooked survivor while in a chase it's because other 2 are dead and I'm going for last chance save.

Why do you open the gates when the killer is nowhere near you? Because I want to leave and move onto the next match. I have a challenge where I need to escape. I accidentally held on just that little bit too long when getting gate to 99%.

Why are you allergic to totems? Only time I don't touch totems are the matches where I'm chased the entire time and don't have a chance to do anything else. I prefer preventing NOED before it activates not after.

Why don't you crouch when you unhook against a Hag? I run Urban Evasion, if I'm playing against Hag I'm crouching the entire time if I'm not in a chase. 😂

Why do you still drop that pallet after you get hit? I was probably already in process of trying to drop it.

Why do you self care under pallets when a team mate is being chased nearby? Teammate was on other side of the map when I started to heal, they ran the killer across the map to where I am healing.

Why do you feel the need to heal 10 times a match? Because I'm playing against Oni and would rather not feed him. Also BP in category that tends to be obnoxious to get BP in.
