So survivors.

Don't complain if your queues are long, stop harassing killers is your life that bad that you need to harass people on the internet? I bet you would never say anything bad in person.

Treat killers like people instead of your play toy, they want to enjoy the game as well, just today I've had 4 death threats and that is on 5 matches that I've played.

Everyone has bad games but you making it worse for the killers will create a chain reaction.

Killer has a bad game turns into survivors harassing then killer turns around and harasses the next ones then survivors harass then killers.

4 death threats in 5 matches isn't enough to tell you that you should block DMs and the chat? It's not ok for threats to be thrown around online but you only have yourself to blame at this point. The options to block all kinds of messages are there so why aren't you using them?

I’m really sorry about that man. Just know I don’t think you deserve all the hate that you get.

Edit: And yes report them. We don’t want that hate circulating online.

  • Unfortunately I know for a fact their actions against toxic players is minimal outside of extreme situations. I know someone who would tell survivors almost every game “######### scummy tryhard” or something like like that; never been banned even one time.

I’ve even reported him myself the one time I played with him (Same discord unfortunately) and nothing.

I usually just say GG on post game chat, when I was on ps4, I remember blocking msgs but then they spammed friend requests even after a few matches happened.

Blocking them in game does nothing, I've been blocked by a PS4 admin dbd group and I played her a few days after so I'm guessing blocking does nothing.

Idk the ark community but I've heard that they are worse than most communities, and on cod I remember I always muted everyone so I don't have any clue as to what they say.

Thanks!!, I just don't get the hate personality, like when I play survivor I just say GGs and move on, I'm confused as to what I did that made them toxic as I try my hardest to not tunnel not camp etc.

  • I do find it amusing how swf queue for 5-10 minutes per game then ignore totems, saves, chests and healing to spend every single second pumping out gens against a Clown on red forest.

    Just why? lmao

Then they act mad at you like you didn't try hard enough.

Yh Ark community is toxic. There are some really weird people. But nobody was so dedicated to be toxic that they would use a friend request for it.

Yeah true. But survivor queue times are a valid complaint.

  • OldHunterLight
    OldHunterLight Member Posts: 3,001

Are a valid complain sure, but if survivors didn't belittle killers there would be more killers and queue time would be lessened.

Th devs really need to get hands on with dealing with the toxicity in the game. I don't see how they think that letting it continue to go on can be good for the game. Toxicity breeds toxicity, It spreads if left unchecked.

Take it a step further and screenshot, search their profile or Twitch for a username and then any relevant info (Name, email etc.) and if you DO get enough info, report them to IC3 or file a police report at your local PD or both

Maybe nothing happens, maybe it does and now someone has a felony for thinking they're tough ######### on the internet

Boy how the world goes round

Insults in games are not lacking, but a threat of death and especially in Dead By Daylight, really this game is not why it is too toxic, unlike other games of the Shooter or Cooperative category, but this is undoubtedly the worst of Everyone and the people you mention ruin everything, it really is annoying on the one hand that this game is succumbed to toxicity.

Oh I understand it's not all survivors, in fact I've played against the nicest survivors out there and they are chill, but currently there are a lot of "not so nice" survivors and it has been like that for a while.

  • kaeru
    kaeru Member Posts: 1,568

When it's daytime, survivor queue times are better, because there more killers in game. Friens are busy, and playing killer is much more interesting than playing solo survivor.

When it's evening or night, there is more survivors, because people are ready to play with their friends.

It's not gonna change even if survivors will treat killers better.

  • ukenicky

Yes, let's generalize the entirety of the Survivor player base.

It's a never-ending cycle that will always persist due to toxicity from both sides. No need to make call-out posts for one side but hey whatever makes you feel better. I know it's harder to take as a Killer since it's 4v1. I get that but there are Killer players who go into matches with the goal in mind to make sure nobody has fun and that contributes to some sweat squads going out of their way to make Killers games miserable.

I don't think either side will ever truly view the other as "people" due to how this game literally alienates both sides from one another.

Survivors are prey in the eyes of Killers. Killers are supposed to catch them and kill them, showing no mercy how is a Killer supposed to view Survivor players as people lol

And Survivors are to escape from the Killer at all costs, so ofc they're going to develop a bad view of Killers over time from dying to them, especially as a result of tunneling or camping

I really wish BHVR would do something to help soften this alienation between the two roles, maybe something like multiple chat channels in the pre game lobby so if Survivors/Killer wanted to interact with one another before the match they could but it would be totally optional, kind of like team chat / public chat in Overwatch. Idk you'll probably laugh at the idea but I feel like even being able to just give warm wishes before the match starts with a glhf or something would make people step back and realize what you're trying to say, that this is a game at the end of the day and we're all humans playing it against each other and it's not so serious.

But idk, it's a horror game at its core so it will always have this sort of issue I think.

    snax9111 Member Posts: 67

    hi,

everything you said its true, but the main issue is not that (survivors are ######### ppl), its the devs mistake that made the killers look like a one of two things

first example :( and i ASSUME 75% of killers do it) killer looks like a ######### person, for tunneling and camping hooks, and they do it in order to avoid being in the second example.

second example:( it takes huge size of balls to do) killer plays fair never tunnels never camps, ends up looking like a joke, a harmless domestic pet.

at the end of the day , whatever you choose to be as a killer, you will always get hated on or laughed at.

conclusion : we cant hate the players ( killers or survivors), we can only hate the game.

  • OldHunterLight
    OldHunterLight Member Posts: 3,001

I have never seen a killer telling you to ######### and stuff, I've seen survivors do say that to killers even when I play survivor.

I've seen upset killers but never seen a killer harass a survivor.

Survivors on ps4 back in the day will spam friend requests until you either block them or ignore the pop up every 5 seconds.

But I too wish the devs gave the killer some kind of chat, like them at least say stuff just like you mentioned.

  • SquirrelKnight
    SquirrelKnight Member Posts: 951

The general responce to this stuff has been just as upsetting. Survivors telling killers

    "Just have thicker skin"

" Ive seen killers do it too"

    Etc...

Even above that though, is the devs responce.

The say its bad, and that they wont tolerate it. However the number of people who do it doesnt go down so they arent being banned, they clearly arent being affected by block lists.

What should happen is when they get blocked, they cant queue with that person again. If that happened slowly but surely toxic people would have longer and longer queue times as their threatening behaviour increases. Maybe having blocks last a certain time period so if people are toxic and dont stop they will get to the point where they cant get games, or they will improve their behavior and then get to play more consistently

Nah, I think I'll thank dev's for creating the game and allowing player agency while condemning those who use their agency in game and irl to harrass and bully others.

    Conclusion:

    We can hate the players.

We can choose not to settle for the "It's going to happen no matter what we do so nothing matters." Excuse because changing is hard and blame is easy.

We can take and accept personal responsibility for our actions.

We can't change the game. We can change and govern our own actions.

I'll tell you what BHVR will tell you: Turn off your chat - the option is there. And please stop acting like survivors are the only ones who take end game chat WAY too far - killers do it too.

I have seen so many things said both in my stream and others - and have seen BHVR do absolutely nothing about these people.

I just assume the person has a tiny endowment, lack any social skills, and go on with my life; because let's be real - it's probably true.

Well, of course the opposition are people, they are your fellow gamers, show them some respect.

That doesnt mean you are responsible for their fun and have to play a certain way, but to thread them with respect outside and inside the game.

However, i have seen killers that try to make the game bad for survivors, but i have seen just as much killer that go out of their way and give up advantages to avoid tunneling for example.

However, i see much much more toxic survivors than killers.

  • OldHunterLight
    OldHunterLight Member Posts: 3,001

I agree with you a lot, and I know that there are a ton of killers that will do their best to annoy survivors but there are killers like myself that try to avoid tunneling as much as possible unless you know BM and stuff or OoO.

I just wish this community had more sympathy towards the other side, without killers there are matches for survivors, without survivors there are no matches for killers.

Yeah, idk what compels people to be super toxic once the game is done. I have it set so only friends can message me, but a guy went through and compared my entire friends list (200+) just to find a mutual friend, and told them to tell me I'm trash.

I don't harass killers, but I do get abused by killers while hooked. Everything you posted can be said about the killers that do this. Killers stop abusing hooked survivors and maybe survivors won't harass killers that much. I'm going to go out on a limb and say fat chance of that happening on either side though.

Report death threats for what though? I feel like reporting does nothing.
