Can we talk about how AWFUL shelter woods is to play on as Survivor?

There are literally like 6 pallets on the map and nothing but empty structures and big boulders. There is no defense on this map what so ever. Why is it so empty?

no clue. as a killer main, whenever I get shelter woods I think to myself "oh great I don't have to try" if you're caught anywhere near the middle of the map, you die, plain and simple. and its not even that the 6 or so pallets are strong. like 4 of them end up being filler pallets and you get 3 maybe 4 jungle gyms at most, and often times not even good ones. I agree I don't think it should be as open as it is, when I think of killer sided maps this is the top of the list.

It can suck with a few killers too; because it's so bloody huge; especially if survivors spawn on separate gens.

Second largest map in the game, mother's dwelling being the first.

Yeah, Once all of the (very few) pallets are used, It just turns into a complete dead zone.

Well probably because it's literally a forest, you do get some basic tiles on the edges but that's just incredibly boring

the map is also awful as killer if you play anyone los based because the sheer amount of random rocks and wood blocks thrown around everywhere makes the map boring. Also blight slides off of basically everything on that map.

When they made all the maps from og mcmillan they made 1 map just for one tree, that map is quite old and pretty basic, was surprised when they managed to nerf it even more with map reworks

The last time I remember Shelter Woods being full of pallets was 2017

I wouldn't say that Shelter Woods is always empty, I think that certain variations of the map can be slightly unfair. The main problem comes when out of the 5 jungle gyms that spawn on the map, they are all either T&Ls or a Pallet gym. I think the map is perfectly fine when 2-3 Long Wall or L wall Jungle Gyms spawn, however I do understand where the frustration comes. With a good team who will use pallets efficiently, the map is fine as it is. Solo queue is a different story, as 1 chase can lead to Meg throwing 4 out of the 8-12 pallets on the map, and then the map is a pretty significant deadzone. This problem with deadzones is a reocurring issue, one which they did a really poor job with on the Autohaven rework

Pallet city was a ghost town the last time I played it.

Crying in Badham, weeping on Autoheaven, mourning in Yamaoka and hang myself in Haddonfield after reading this.

I will name you all on my suicide letter. 🤣

This map sucks. They could've at least put a hill in it. And while every killer can win on it. It can be a drag for the ones with a lack of mobility. Feel like they need to do something with the tree in the middle.

One of, if not the worst maps in the game for me as survivor. Shocked it wasn't fixed with the rework tbh.

Shelter Woods is a coin flip at the moment. There can seemingly be jungle gyms back to back and rock pallets OR nothing but T-L walls.

It is certainly not a 1-sided problem, though. Umbra had a 4 man escape on Shelter Woods a few weeks ago - as Bubba.

Even though this map doesn't have that many pallets, it can spawn several jungle gyms (my RnG is awfull with maps as killer) and is bloody HUGE. Most of the times survivors start spread (if they don't go Pepega and put a shroud) and by the time the first chase ends it's guaranteed to at least 1 gen pop and other 1 or 2 be near completion...

This map is really balanced if you know how to play it in each side. If there's at least 2 competent survivors shelter woods is a pain in the ass for killers, especially with low mobility or lethality.

Was about to get really angry, realized I thought you were talking about suffocation pit. Yeah Shelter is annoying af both for Survivor and Killer

I hate Shelter Woods, as I hate Autohaven and the deadzone ColdWild Farm variaton map that I don't remember the name (the nome with the shack on the middle). I don't know how they allow so many deadzones to be on a single map.

I'd rather play on Hawkins or The Game anytime than any of these maps.

Everyone always likes to interject with :bUt pAllEtS, bUt lOoPs.

Okay? But there's still so much empty space the killer can find a survivor within 5 seconds of starting the match. Pallets don't mean a damn thing when there will always be someone in chase if the killer is somewhat competent. The rock pallets are borderline pointless depending on the killer you face. If a gen spawns too close to an actual T+L loop you're basically applying constant pressure.

This map and similarly Rotten Fields and Wrecker's Yard all need to be redone. They are insta-wins for some killers.

They've messed up many other maps with the lazy blocked door = breakable wall. They need to get on this yesterday.
