Can someone explain how matchmaking works
I get that it places you with players around your rank and level, but in A lot of my games there are one or two people who have a rank of 1 or 2, Which I don't think is supposed to happen, since I'm pretty new to this game being rank 15 right now. Is there any explanation on why I keep getting into lobbies with people who have such a higher rank than me?

That’s the Billion dollar question

If it cannot find enough players of a similar rank, it will just match you with any players available, regardless of Rank.
There are long wait times for survivors at high ranks because playing Killer is stressful at high ranks, therefore it's probably putting you into games with high ranks to fix their wait times.

Basically when you queue for a killer game in throws you with survivors who have been waiting for longest. That's literally it

Bottom ranks (20-15) can get any other rank. The Devs prioritize getting you a match than finding opponents around your rank.

I can't think of anything witty to reply with so I'll give it to you straight.
It doesn't.

Well you see... matchmaking blows, so there's that. I get the same issue with being rank 14 and getting placed against red-ranked SWF teams. Ugh, it's painful sometimes, but that's my motivation to git gud. I don't want to be toxic to them, I just want to crush them. One day... one day!
