What is the first thing you do?
What is the first thing you do when you start a new match?
As a survivor I usually jump on a generator. I always wonder what the other players are doing first, since I often see them just run by generators like they have a separate agenda.

If all survivors jump on the first gen they see, it means the last remaining gens will be clustered together in one side of the map. The other survivors are probably walking to gens on the other side of the map, so the remaining gens are spread out and harder for the Killer to defend in the later stages of the game.

Find nearest gen and get on it of course

Uhh, I go find survivors to chase? Not exactly the most interesting thing.

I listen for the crackle of fire that indicates a lit totem is near. Then I scan for the nearest chest in hopes Plunderers gives me a key and if so, take the key and hide it in a corner. If no gen, totem, or chest is near, I make my way to the gen that is closest to the center of the map in order to try and prevent my fellow solo teammates from 3 gen'ing us.

As survivor, tap the first gen I see, checking it for Ruin. If Ruin is on, find it, and cleanse it... top priority. If Ruin isn’t on... head toward center gen and start repairing.
What I do first as Killer depends on who I’m playing

This. I always want the pain in the ass generator out of the way first.

I try to find high ground and scan for a survivor or movement while waiting on discordance to pop. So I can get close, phase and start the game with a grab and a hit on another survivor.
Fun times when it goes right.
As a survivor, jump on a genny and hope someone else's gen is checked first. If not. Well, let's hope it is one of those games when my looping is on point.

You mean as survivor?
It depends a lot about the map, where i spawn and if someone is spawning with me. Also my perks and the killer have impact on that what i do first. So it is always a little bit different and therefore hard to say.
I can tell you what i love to do: Running towards the middle (unless someone else does the same). There i have the best chance of finding the killer so i can loop him for my team. If i dont bump into him (a good sign that he is weak since he is ignoring the middle of the map), i do the middle generator which is often one if not the the most important gen. Getting the middle gen out of the way early is on many maps a win scenario.

It depends on who I'm playing with and the build I'm running.
If it's looting build. I'm gonna get all those items.
If I'm wiith randoms or people in swf that I don't know so well, I usually go for a gen or, if we spawned together (I run bond), I look for a gen on the distance. If possible, middle gen.
If I'm with closer friends it depends on what we wanna do that match. I can go for totems, hide, hop on a gen, look for the killer.

Wait off early freezes and try to rotate around the map a bit to load remaining textures into my RAM in order to avoid further stuttering
:/

When trying my best, I'll jump on a generator that I'd want finished to prevent a 3-gen situation (basically just generators around the middle of the map). If there is a generator right next to where I spawned but it isn't a good generator to complete, I'll tap it to see if the killer has Hex: Ruin, then repair generators elsewhere.

The reason survivors do that is because of 2 reasons.
- The want to find a more central gen to start weakening the killers pressure early.
- Killers usually check the furthest gens first, so they’re moving away from the closest gens.
So i’ll do the same thing as survivor.
As killer the very first thing I do is scan the distance for disturbed crows.

look around me to judge where my spawn location was and try to pinpoint possible survivor spawn locations.
i then travel there and chase whoever i find, during the travel time i try to look at the tiles in the area and how the survivors might use them / how i could counteract said tile usage / when to drop chases.
as survivor i too am going to take a little look at my surroundings and try to see who the killer is, aswell as their current location. then i go on gens, where i immediately check for ruin, then either go on a Hex hunt or do the gen, when i know the killer is occupied far away.

Chainsaw/Blight rush to where I think the survivors spawned

Kill a totem, if found, for future noed and undying relief. Do a gen nearby, plan out the direction to run when killer comes calling.
As killer, charge head first to the middle of the map, look out for discordance or whispers movement in the distance away from where I spawned. So many times there's a survivor that meets me in the middle. If on los blocker maps twiddle my thumbs until a gen completes.

You people who immediately start walking/urban evading across the map to generate "pressure" on a killer are dumb, not even sorry.
- Do a quick look/run around for totems
- Do nearest gen
- Identify nearest pallet for easy escape while working on gen
- Wait for someone to get injured so you know you're safe and finish the gen OR you're the first person found and now you have your pallet ready
Some people do have their own agenda, like people who use loot builds (Plunderers, Ace, Appraisal) will go flying by a gen to get that sweet loot first

As killer: The first thing I do is complain about the fact that I usually spawn exactly on the opposite of the map whenever I bring a hex totem so I end up getting paranoid about survivors spawning near my totem and as a result I give away the totem's position like a dummy.
As survivor: The first thing I do is locate the generator that's exactly in the middle of the map as I want the remaining gens to be as spread out as possible.

Push M1 on the first thing I can push M1 on.

Survivor: Teabag or spin with the first Survivor I see, then go work on a generator (preferably the middle ones or the ones that are.. out of place.) If I spawn near a dull or lit totem, it’s getting cleansed.
Killer: Go straight for the generator furthest from me, or the ones on the outer sides of the map. If I have a totem, I go to it’s spot and determine if it’s gonna be broken early or not, then prepare.

Look at this tryhard here with the diamond league esports strat.
Jokes aside, though:
Survivor - Hide in grass while I survey surroundings, look for a path to middle/far generator as Killer will likely be crossing to my area shortly
Killer - Attempt to find best vantage point to catch a survivor on a gen without warning. Sacrifices shmacrifices, I'm looking for scares first and foremost.

As survivor? Usually stealth past the killer to where they spawned and do a gen there if I can.
As killer? Mostly deal with horrible trapper problems.

Find the gen more far as killer, as survivor find a generator that is near of map center

Go to the middle gens while avoiding the killer then once they pass get the hardest ones done first and minimise the risk of getting 3 gens left in one area. Don't just jump on the first gen you see on the side of the map the killers most likely to spawn opposite to there so will probably be making his way to that area first so chances are you will be pushed off it soon anyway. You want the last three gens as spread out as possible so middle ones first then take it from there.

As survivor, If I spawn by a generator, I will look around the area for totems and chests. If I don't find any, I start working on the gen.
As killer, I usually head straight across to the other side of the map and look for survivors working on gens.

I run to the middle of the map and do a gen to prevent a 3 gen, I feel like it always happens to me if I don't do that in solo queue.

LOL DbD has both types of hex spawns. Those that spawn next to you as killer in plain sight of a gen, and those that spawn on the opposite side of the map next to the survivors :)

See if a three gen is possible based on the map I'm placed in, what killer I'm using, any Hex perks I have equipped, and what I can glean from the survivors in the lobby.

As survivor, the first thing I do is look for a gen and try to get at least some progress on it.
As Trapper, the first thing I do is look around and identify what loops I'm going to be playing, then try to set traps around the area I want to play. Picking up as many traps as possible is key for me, because I need them nearby; I move them a lot.

I look for the nearest gen. I see a lot of survivors go for chest or dull totems for the easy 1k points. I 99% of the time get on a gen first.
I've realized a lot more killers are running Corrupt Intervention now, and the 3 that get locked down near me make me have to go towards the killer, but nonetheless I ffocus gens, saving teammates, taking hits for teammates, buying teammates time on gens when I'm being chased, etc.
I absolutely hate the survivors who crouch/walk everywhere. Especially the Claudettes, cause they're all cowards.

I usually get on a gen, but I'll preferentially go for gens that are more dangerous first so I might not go to the gen closest to me when I spawn. I will also always tap the gen before I start repairing to know if Ruin is in play.

As a survivor ill tend to find an inner strength real quick then go work on the three gen
As a killer I tend to break walls until discordance goes off or I find someone
