Is the console population greater than PC?

Just something to really occurred to me today. I rarely go against PC players anymore. Maybe every other match will have one, and all four will be PC once in a blue moon, but for the most part, I'm against console players. Not that I care one way or another, but it does make me curious where the PC playerbase went.

I mean there is PS4/PS5 + XBox one/Series X/S + Switch + Stadia + Windows Store players vs the steam players so the population should be higher. I could be wrong though.

I wish they would get rid of the windows store version. Most of the hackers (obvious ones) i have gone against are from there and it seems that's where they go after being banned from steam.

PC has averaged roughly 36,500 during the last 4 months.. Valve doesnt release stats for sales numbers, but its safe to say they're far lower than Console.

From October 19th-November 19th of 2020, Xbox alone had over 250,000 new players and the game is also free via the Xbox Game Pass.

From October 19th-November 19th of 2020, PSN has had 140,000 new players.

Maybe many have turned crossplay off in hopes of better queue times. There was a bigger influx of survivors than killers from consoles (more than 4:1).

And while I am typing this I had the realization that turning off crossplay wouldn't necessarily help since they would only be matched with fewer killers that also turned crossplay off. 😅

Turning off crossplay is a mistake. The queue time gets worse when you turn off crossplay.

That said, I haven't had your problem. most of the people I go up against are Steam players. Must be a regional thing. I am guessing NA has a bigger console DBD population.

There are way more people playing on consoles than on PC as a general rule, so I would assume there would be a lot more console players based off of that.

How can you tell what platform others are playing? Doesn't the symbol next to someone's name just mean that they are on a different platform than you?

Steam has like 40 - 50k peak atm. I would guess the PlayStaion Network alone has at least double that. Then we have Xbox Live players. They gave DBD away with PS+ before and I think they also gave it away for the Xbox equivalent at some point too. It has never been "free" on PC from what I know.
