Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Some Quality of Life ideas...

Hello!

I've been playing DbD for a couple years now and honestly, there are some things I've been REALLY wishing were in the game. 1) Being able to sell items/ add-ons/ offerings back to The Entity and 2) Being able to go into a custom match alone.

Some more details below:

1) Toolbox Instructions, enough said. Hahah! In all seriousness though, after years of playing, I've accumulated a lot of items and addons on both killer and survivor that I never feel the need/desire to use (don't tell me you can't relate). They just sit in my inventory collecting dust and rusting, and I really wish there was a use for these things. Yeah, sure I could really just use them, and yeah, I could try my best to avoid them in bloodwebs, but sometimes there's a set of toolbox instructions keeping me from my shiny green med-kit :c

My solution to this would be to let us sell our items/ add-ons/ offerings back to the entity for, lets say, something like 1/4 the BP we spent on them. Or perhaps it goes by tiers: commons sell for 500bp, uncommon for 1000, so on and so forth. I think this could not only help clear some inventory (even though there is no limit), and also really help with how much of a total slog getting perks is when a chapter comes out. If perks aren't going to become tierless any time soon, each chapter is essentially 9+ perks for killer and survivor (3 perks, 3 tiers each, at LEAST a killer and survivor on average sometime more sometimes less). Now imagine how a new player feels with that. Looking at survivor perks right now there's already 86 of them. Split them up into each tier you need to purchase and that's 258 perks. You know how much BP that is alone? For just the perks and not everything you have to get in-between? 1,290,000 BP (someone can check that math I barely know numbers). Killers are an entirely different beast since they're all different and not really just skins like survivor. So you need a LOT more bp if you want all perks at their highest rank on 2+ more killers. I'm a big MMO player so I'm no stranger to the grind, but I think the DBD grind is a little bit insane the more chapters are released. This is why I feel like being able to sell items/ add-ons/ offerings would be a HUGE QoL improvement for the game.

2) Watch any high ranking, extremely experienced player and you can see them do insane things: crazy curves with Hillbilly, Weaving hatches through the space behind a locker and a wall (and cross-mapping literally insane) Tractor Techs for both sides, fast vaulting at a jungle gym with a wall outside one of the windows (this is a bad explanation of the tile but I just mastered how to do this fast vault myself and it was tricky and took me like half an hour of sitting there doing it over and over to get it consistently 10+ vaults in a row)? There are SO many crazy little niche things that you can learn how to do that will vastly improve your playing and start separating you from other players, but there's no good way to practice it currently!

I don't want to throw matches by practicing my tractor tech swings with killer, or forgoing my main objective as survivor to just spam fault to practice something. I've always felt when you first practice these types of mechanics in games its better to do it in a controlled environment to get the hang of it before putting it into practice. I don't want to have to call up my friend Zayn to afk in a custom match to be able to practice these kinds of things on my own, so I think it could be so beneficial to let us go into a custom match alone. (Also could be great for learning new maps if you don't have friends to join you!)

These are just some ideas and I would love to have some other people weigh in on them and give their feedback!

Stay safe in the fog!

(I'll ignore rude comments so don't just be a jerk, please have something constructive because I really want this game to thrive and offer the most opportunities for the player base in general to improve and have more fun.)

This would also be a good idea! I could already think of a handful of applications for this like getting muscle memory for Shred attacks for Demo or Pyramid Head's ranged attacks. Awesome idea

I feel like with items specifically, it's more on the community and how killers tend to act when people bring in any amount of items, especially flashlights, maps, and keys(especially maps and keys in the same game). Hell I even get killers who target me just because I brought in a med-kit. Like how dare I heal myself at a reasonable rate once per match.

I think allowing add-ons to be sold back to the Entity for a fraction of what they were worth is a solid idea, it would give the devs a good clue as to what's actually valued if they kept track of it all.

I agree with all of this Westy! Very good ideas that the devs should definitely consider.
