Why has there been a sudden influx in rank 1 killers?

I'm a red rank survivor, and normally the killers are a mix of red, purple and even green ranks. However, recently nearly every single match has been against a rank 1 killer, which is honestly really annoying. Over the weekend 90% of the matches were against rank 1, and today I've played five and four of them were rank 1. Even before rank reset I never got this many. It probably sounds really petty to complain about, but constantly going against really good killers that demolish your team every single match is not fun. Is there a reason for getting so many or am I just really unlucky?

Hadn't noticed. I go up against R1 killers all the time, have been for years.

You might just be unlucky now, and used to be really lucky before. Versing R1 killers is normal for me. And yes it's why I tend to get demolished 4/5 games.

Yesterday i noticed that as well. I actually had fair games. Maybe a secret test of mmr?

Yeah I run into a lot of red rank killers honestly, and as solo they usually wreck shop. But hopefully it is MM working as intended.

    Are you a red rank?

Sound like it is working as it should. Why do you feel annoyed facing players in the same rank as you?

Putting all "mm seems to be working as intended" arguments aside and answering the question you've asked - you seem to be relatively unlucky as I didn't notice any significant trends in share of r1 killers recently.

However, such a trend could exist given that late night matches against purple (at best) rank survivors allow killers to rank up much easier than half a year ago.
