This community just turns my stomach....
Just had a streamer just abusing his team so much, insulting them and such in post game.
They just kept going on insulting me, insulting their teammates, being a vulgar awful human being- yet this person has more viewers/followers than some decent streamers who are not terrible people.
This is the kind of behaviour that this community endorses and chooses to exemplify as the "okay" behaviour. I just can't stomach it any more, nothing is done about this kind of thing in game, I know there is nothing done because I have reported someone in our discord for telling people to go kill themselves, get cancer and die, and so on in postgame chat in the few matches I played with them and nothing ever came of it ever. Eventually they got banned from the discord thankfully at least.
Still; why on earth does this community insist on treating everyone like absolute garbage?

I'm sorry this happened to you! I have had crummy matches where people get upset with me and then have to mention I'm on console or make a post like 'dear console players' when it's legit just... a bad match lol! We all have them, and people who are mean about it usually suck as well and hate that they 'carry' their team so much (very loose quotation marks mind u!!!) because a lot of the time the team you might be 'carrying' is good when given the opportunity. I try to look at TTV play backs for analysis and to reach out with a 'gg' every once in a while, and many streamers are super nice, but there are many who find entertainment in belittling and bullying others. I hope you meet a nice TTV in your lobby soon and that your next matches are awesome :)!

Why do we stare at car wrecks???
We love horrible #########...

It reminds me of a time I got stuck in horrible traffic on the interstate, and I finally get up to the front where it cleared up and it caused by an accident ~on the other side of the freeway~

Ttv is probably the worst thing I see in game. If I see ttv I'll either dodge or if I am in a terrible mood I'll altF4 during loading.
If I don't notice till I'm in game I'll usually just walk around the barrier of the map or if I can spam my secondary for points I'll do that while I am walking.

If you're sensitive to this stuff, simply do not look at TTVs. It's just asking to get your feelings hurt to go to his stream if he was already abusive to you in game chat. Most you can do is fire back (if you are so inclined) and move on without giving him anymore time (and definitely not another view).
People like the streamer you mentioned are popular because ragers are strangely entertaining to many people. I myself only watch Tru content to see him get mad over survivors who sauce him (not that I would classify him as a rager). It's sort of the same reason people rubber neck accidents on the highway, or watch cringe compilations. A lot of people don't enjoy it/find it stressful, but an equal amount of people find it to be entertaining content.

I usually just switch to better addons when I see a ttv.
Not always, but on average they are usually in a swf squad. I'd also say that more often than not they usually end up being the ones that want to tbag and flashlight click as well for their viewers.
Like I said, not always the case, but often enough that it makes me swap to better addons just in case we're gonna have one of "those" matches.
In the case they end up actually being chill I'll give them the hatch typically to reciprocate.

Report them - that's what has to be done. Report them every time you come across them behaving badly in a match.

Man I am trying so hard. I played ONE game today. Just one trying to ease back into it.
I am snowballing hard and now only 2 survivors are left so one started trying to get me to just farm with them and I just kill them because I mean...I don't want to sit around for 3 minutes kicking the same gen over and over I want to go into a new game. (No DC, no first hook death, etc normal game)
I get called names, told to go ######### myself and so on and that I am being reported for, and I quote "Griefing players just trying to have fun". Now, when asked why I would throw the match at that stage just to farm they said "just to have fun idk your the idiot with the gross overkill perks anyways on broken killers; learn to play without addons #########".
This is on a survivor sided map, playing as wraith with 3 trash perks and noed because it's I have really.
Who wants to stop and kick a gen 30 times instead of just getting a new game when it's almost over anyways?

I essentially outplayed a pig as a solo survivor in a match with a streamer and post game they went into that streamers chat and tried to talk #########.
Community sucks that’s a given

Just..leave..the..lobby. Close..chat. You are choosing to be affected by it. And don't say "this community" because some tainted your day.

These are people who are using media to try and create problems for people outside of the game, people ruining games for others with actions and behaviours in games, and often more than just words. Its not as easy as that and you bloody well know it.
Also, I will say community because that is exactly what it is. It’s mostly community created norms. What you are trying to do is normalize and put awful behaviour of people on the backs of others; and that is exactly the kind of thing that only contributes to the worsening of the problems.

I think its mainly that people are getting sick of stupid things happening in game and getting tired of getting screwed over by a teammates bs. I cant tell you how many times a meghead left me to die on first hooj, how many claudettes dropped pallets on me mid chase, and then get hit with a noed camp. Each person has a boiling point and damn if this game doesnt go to 1000 degrees

Humilitainment. There are some nice sources you can find online about the subject (Cringe by ContraPoints is a nice one) but in summary, there is an innate pleasure in watching other people's anguish and many go as far as to intentionally provoke those kinds of reactions.
