About match hostage situation

Disclaimer: this is just a rant.

I was playing this match where I killed 2 survivors and they managed to let me with a 3-gen stack as you can see in the screenshot below. The problem is the other 2 were literally just hiding forever, not even touching the remaining gens. I started to think that they are either terrorized or just trolling me while keeping me in the match.

Is there anything possible to do in situations like this? I couldn't find them since they only hide and do nothing, there was a P3 blendette in this map where the grass is super tall and they used an offering to go there.

It felt like a total waste of time, so after almost 10 minutes of search I gave up. I got so bored that I stood in the corner and switched to Youtube to watch some videos while wait them to do anything. The result was one of them telling me to search (?) them in the post-game chat. God only knows how much I wanted to insult that guy, but I just left and closed the game.

Survivor mains will say you are the one holding the game hostage by not leaving the area of the three gens to look for the survivors so the survivors can freely work on the generators to escape.

I had this as survivor on haddonfield. Did most of the gens with one other survivor and we were both the ones getting chased because they could find us. Got down to 3 gens all far away from each other and I got chased for 3 min only to go down and see the other 2 sat in a corner doing nothing.

Once you have taken out the survivors doing the objectives if the remaining survivors playing aren't doing anything to try and progress the match they are taking the match hostage. The best thing you can do is take a video and send this in and report them for it with evidence.

In your case they ended the match. If they continued to hide even after you gave up, then it would be considered holding the game hostage.

"It's not holding hostage cause you quit the game" lol

Yeah? And there’s nothing you can do about it really because it happens somewhat often. Reporting isn’t likely to do anything at all.

32m is a massive warning and easy to avoid, 24m not so much, and 16m is approaching stealth killer territory where you just walk into people by accident.

Just saying how it would be viewed. If he continued searching and no gen progress was done in an extended amount of time then its reportable too. But it has to be an unreasonable amount of time.

    Whispers. It stops this.

I see some of you recommended Whispers, but what perk should I remove for it? Infectious Fright?

Yeah, demo is honestly pretty weak anyways. I’m not sure why people like running infectious on him so much. I only use infectious on killers who absolutely drop people.

It’s good for 4king at the end but whispers is almost just as good to 4K with if not better. It takes some time to get used to it but it’s easily one of my favorite perks.

If you don’t need blood points BBQ is optional as well.

I do need the points (you know, game is too grindy) so I guess I'll drop Infectious. Thanks!

Besides using whisperer, being quick on your toes and always chasing or actively tracking a survivor the moment you're done with one. Besides reporting, please use the match satisfaction thing once the match is done so the devs know matches like these are god awful.

I come across those types of survivors often.

It sucks being the only one ever trying while the other(s) does nothing but hide. It feels like I'm punished for actually trying while they're rewarded for nothing.

It's even worse when I'm slugged because of it. Then I can't even move on to another match and they're not gonna take the bait and help. This sometimes makes me wish I played immersed instead.

This happened to me on a Coldwind Farm map playing Freddy when I was new to the game. Three gen scenario, three super stealthers. Game took over half an hour to finish.

That would help honestly. If you close hatch on the last survivor alive and have whispers; odds are they won't be getting out with the gate because you just go near each gate and whispers will go off when you are near; and if it's not you go to the other one; hell not even all the way just near enough to see if it lights up.

It helps prevent hostage games like this, secure 4Ks, and get that first survivor at the start. Even if it isn't the strongest perk you could bring, if these things are annoying it might be worth running it just to help prevent that.

I had a game against a Wraith today like this, he was just holding the game hostage, there were only two of us, and he just sat near a dying survivor until someone approached to try and rescue.
