Lightburn & Spirit

So I was reading over the lore for Wraith and came back to the lightburn mechanic. The way the wiki reads, only killers that can interact with the "spirit world" are vulnerable to lightburn, and the only two who do this are Wraith and Nurse. The "spirit world" is described as an identical plane, but killers moving through it cannot interact with anything in the material world, and must return before they can. Hence why Wraith uncloaks for a moment to kick/break.

Now the question: This sounds an awful lot like Spirit's power. She moves through a misty version of the real world, and cannot directly interact until she exits. However, she is not able to be lightburned. I cannot find an explanation lore-wise for why she doesn't have this weakness, when it seems likely that the "spirit world" is the best description for how her power works in-game as it is very similar to Nurses'. Does she interact with a different plane? Is it because she is "trapped" in the material plane permanently haunting-style and her power has a different origin?

...Or is lightburn just an old mechanic the devs forgot about and I'm reading way too much into this.

hmmmm, i think this is 70% old mechanic and 30% plot hole. Spirit doesn't enter the spirit world herself, remember, she leaves her body behind, moves through this alternate reality, and then teleports her body to her spirit's location.

wraith and nurse physically move through the "Spirit World", and can still see survivors while in the "Spirit world".

    ...

In order to fit in with the lore, wraith should be able to walk through walls while cloaked. Collision with objects is interaction, as physical things cannot be in the same place. That's why wraith uncloaks, because he can't touch generators or break pallets...

But he can still get stunned by pallets?

I'm joking about Wraith being able to walk through walls, but I think that this "Spirit World" is a lore explanation for gameplay mechanics that needs some rethinking or reworking.

There's a key difference between Wraith and Nurse's power and Spirit's and it has nothing to do with Lightburn being an "old mechanic the devs forgot about".

If you read Spirit's power description on the wiki, there's a piece of lore at the very top that explains it: she enters the Ethereal Plane during a phase walk.

If you look at the sub-realm-articles on the wiki, it explains how the Ethereal Plane is different from the Spirit World, which explains why Spirit isn't affected by Lightburn, since she doesn't interact with the Spirit World.

It's a common misconception amongst the community, since few people read the lore bit and just assume something along the lines of "Spirit must interact with the Spirit World, since they share the name".

Lore questions are often answered if you dig a bit deeper. The wiki has articles about most of this stuff.

I don't wanna say it's because it's an old mechanic, more so because it is a different plane.

However, I'd like to see this be a thing for some sort of extra counter for survivors. Just like wraith and hag, it won't be op as heck, but can help out while giving flashlight a bit more utility.

    2 reasons

    A. Lightburn is a very old mechanic. You can tell since the last time a killer was made that was effected by this was the very first dlc back in August 2016

    B. The Spirit enters what's called the "Ethereal Plane" which means she isn't going into the Spirit World. Meaning that lore wise she can't be effected by lightburn because she's not entering the realm effected by it.
