Lore-wise, what exactly is Bloodlust?

We know that most Killers were brought into The Entity's Realm because they were either evil (Myers, Oni, Freddy, etc.) or either wanted vengeance from the ones who wronged them (Spirit, Caleb, Billy); in this case we can deduce that Bloodlust may come from their own emotions and desire to torture and kill.

Still, talking about beings who just follow their instinct (Demogorgon and Pyramid Head) or the ones forced into doing The Entity's bidding (Trapper or Wraith), the concept may become a little more complicated.

So, what can be the reason of Bloodlust in general, lore-wise? A rush of adrenaline given by The Entity itself to Killers, or something else?

I mean, Bloodlust is going faster when you are in a chase for too long, game wise it would give the killer an advantage through loops.

lore wise would be no different then real life chases, you keep catching up to people but going far behind you go faster to keep up, you pick up the pace you go faster so you can make the perfect strike...

that's at least what I think Bloodlust is for me.

I think it's like a need to devote yourself to the Entity and therefore you "lust" for blood to feed them

Most killers love a good chase. The longer and more difficult the chase is, the more enticing it is to try and catch or maim the victim, therefore initiating bloodlust. Difficult prey makes a memorable catch.

That’s how I think of it, anyway.

well, killers enter a chase with the simple mindset of "i need to slaughter this survivor", so the longer the survivor manages to evade them to more they grow impatient and start feeling frustrated.

the simple thought of finally grinding their weapon inside the survivors body is enough to excite them so much that they actually get faster and faster, as they simply cannot await that blessed moment for them - whether that be because they genuinely enjoy slaughtering or because the entity forces them to do it in order to stop their own torment (which we know is the case for some of the killers - especially the ones that are extremely deformed (e.g. Trapper), as these sort of mutations and deformations of their body are the Entitys way of forcing them into obedience).

i think its a lot like the perk Agitation, which states that the killer just gets impatient and really, really wants to hook their prey, which is why they grow in speed when they pick someone up.

canonically im a little sad BL is gonne have to go at some point. it just fits this game way too good in order to be just taken out like that - though we also need to look at it from a gameplay perspective, from which it is better to remove it once maps are balanced.

maybe it could get reintroduced as a perk? i mean, Beast of Prey could reenable Blood Lust (but only the first stage of it)... that would be kinda cool - and make the Perk a lot better than it currently is?

    EDIT: typo

Bloodlust is edging but less perverted. There's a piece of juicy meat in front of you, but it's just out of reach. Dangling in front of you, so close yet so far. Your limbs pump harder, your arms swing faster, but the meat is still out of reach. Your vision narrows and your grunts of effort become snarls. The chase continues, going back and forth, through windows and around buildings. The prey fights back, dropping a flimsy wooden construction on your head and you are furious. You run, all but charging at the meat, until you both sense the critical moment. Your muscles tense, your adrenaline spikes, and with a final burst of rage, of hunger, you bury your weapon in their back, and relish in the release, the catharsis.

    That's what bloodlust is.
