Why does auto-aim exist in this game?

So many times i'll have a certain hit and the camera gets pulled towards a gen, pallet, window, wall etc that wasn't even in my lunge or slash vision. I could even be looking slightly down as not to whiff over the survivor crouching of 360ing and it will get dragged to a nearby obstacle. I really think this feature needs to be removed. Why was it put in the first place?

    Killer attacks are kinda cumbersome the animation and swing are rough on top of that so guiding the blade around evaisive survivours is kinda ass.

    Originally it was introduced because devs couldnt get the hitbox detection of the actual weapons working properly.

    I dont like this "feature" at all, but removing it would require so much rework. First of all we would need dedicated servers, and thats already sth thats not gonna happen sadly, then 360s would have to be removed etc

    No wonder I keep getting bullshit hits from killers. Auto aim is an atrocious feature in any game. It gives the false impression that people are good at something when they really aren't. FPS are a prime example but a game like this needing auto aim? Lol dumb

    The autoaim that still exists is absolutely miniscule and sometimes even a hinderance, are people here living in the past?

    actually, and this is like the one time i actually disagree with out, there is an auto aim in the game. when a killer starts to attack, the game marks an area of effect in front of the killer, and if a survivor hitbox happens to be inside this area, the killers weapon will automatically connect to the survivor. that way it looks more smooth and logical when you attack them.

    let me show you how this game would be without the auto aim:
    killer finds survivor -> survivor runs away -> killer ctaches up-> is in range -> presses M1, starts swing animation -> survivor simply pressed A or D, completely dodging the killers attack -> killer wound be able to hot a survivor anymore, unless they survivor is just bad or the killer happens to catch them in an animation
    see? it would be super easy to avoid the killers attack without the auto aim, so removing it would literally break the game and make survivors almost immortal. i mean, right now there is this area of effect in front of the killer everytime he attacks, but when the weapon had its won hitbox, which had to connect to the survivors hitbox in order to hit, it would be super hard to hit the attacks against decent survivors, if not impossible.

    That's what hit boxes are for. Sure a survivor could "Dodge" an attack but if it literally comes down to the excuse (the game is broken without auto aim or aim assist) then this game needs a total overhaul

    Take away the last tidbit of autoaim that's fine by me if they fix the physics of 360s somehow accelerating the character beyond what's usually possible and if they fix the killer hitbox so they can't be looped anymore so survivors have to actually drop pallets to survive or use windows.
