Spirit mains
What are some tips someone who's new to spirit must know? I got her yesterday and I've been having a blast playing her, but there definitely is room for improvement.

Stridor
edit: i am not a spirit main, please dont kill me

I'm not a Spirit main, but my experience from playing against them is that they love to rush the hook the second someone is unhooked. I think they just walk away, face the hook and have their finger ready on the trigger.

Normally I'd agree but sounds are so ######### right now that Stridor ends up being a wasted perk slot.
My advice is to avoid phasing on healthy survivors as much as you can. If you can land the hit without phasing, the follow up should be pretty easy.

You have faced some ######### spirits then.
Spirit is meant to be played as all offence.
Attack, hook , repeat.
Cruise gens and hook survivors.

As a Spirit main, I think gen control is your best friend. Yes you're all offense but where do you find the survivors? Gens of course. Thrilling Tremors is great if you don't mind the cooldown and I would go for speed and duration addons.

Spirit mains are cringey, unless they are new to the game. Actually, any killer who mains 1 killer is pretty cringe. Same with the endless huntress mains who get carried by the broken hitboxes. Or nurse mains.
I remember this one guy who told me "clown gameplay is lousy for survivors" and he then goes and practically mains the spirit / hag and I am boggled and cannot find the words to describe my feeling about that.
I play her every now and then when I want an easy game or am too tired to actually play DBD.

I'm not a main but Spirit is my go to when I want easy games.
Stridor is the obvious choice because of Iron will. Even if you end up a little further from a survivor due to it, your post phase speed boost lunge helps a lot and should land a hit anyway.
Have good headphones.
Don't be afraid to phase after a healthy survivor, but don't give up an otherwise easy hit for it.
Phasing in shorter burst is better in a chase. Only long phase for travel.
If you're having trouble following scratch marks use predator. It will pretty much give you a red brick road right to the survivor.
Spies from the Shadows works while phasing so you can consider it. Very hit or miss perk however due to multiple factors.
Master the Spirit art of standing still and watching survivors. React accordingly.
Keep in mind what a particular survivor does when you phase or stand still, they'll probably do it next time.
Be aware of the sound bug that makes survivors just stop making any sound. Annoying but just treat them like they're healthy and its not really a problem, just annoying.
That's about it, Spirit is pretty easy to play for how strong she is so with just a little practice you should be fine. I only play her here and there and she's easily my strongest killer.

That was a very thorough response. Thank you :D

Using distressing makes it easier to phase grab people. People inside your terror radius don't hear the phasing sound.
Using predator helps pinpoint where people are while phasing. ( Stridor too if they fix sound delay).
One thing to try is fake phase for just a couple seconds just to see what their reaction is. Don't fake too long just long enough to determine if they're going to sprint, crouch, stop etc.

I made a guide that can help with this.

I’m pretty mediocre at Spirit and I’ve found this approach to help. Try to land the hit without it, then phase and use sound to lock in for the kill

You're maining spirit because you need the crutch?
Honestly, the most unfun killer to play against. I usually just try to harass them and die as quick as possible.

Be unpredictable. If you know another player is nearby while chasing someone, pretend you're still chasing the current player but phase and attack the other player. Also have good headphones and pay attention to the foliage around you while phasing for tracking. Fake your phases a few times to see how your opponents react to this and play accordingly.
With that said, I would recommend playing other killers first to become a good m1 killer. Once you get good at playing killer period, then playing spirit isn't that difficult because her skill cap is pretty low. If you're sympathetic towards other players, I wouldn't main spirit because her mechanics are objectively unfun to most players.
Edit: I just realized this is a necro RIP

I feel you on this. Also left ear deaf. Good headphones have helped me some in that I can feel the vibration against my ear but not the sound.

I Use the mono setting, makes life alot easier

Calm down buddy. Take a breath. You sound stressed out.
2 -
How about you not do that so you don’t ruin the fun of the other 3 survivors and the spirit player?

I would appreciate it if @MandyTalk or another mod could close this thread. As someone else already mentioned, this is an old and outdated thread from last year.

They're banned. One can only wonder why lmao.

Banned from the forums. Look at their profile photo.
You'll see a lot of wild people here, best to just laugh at how stupid they sound sometimes.

Why exactly are you telling me this? You realize I'm not the one who made that comment, and I didn't say YOU were banned.

Lol grabs actually working, looks this comedian.

Have a decent set of earphones and you won't need Stridor. Mother/Daughter ring + amulet and black ward gets after it. BBQ/Pop/Surveillance or Discordance/ MYC has been my goto setup.
