Devs, please revert the MMR system. it will hurt more than help this game.

So the idea of MMR for this game is for "balance". The idea of MMR is helpful for the lower ranks, but when you start getting to higher ranks, this system becomes a problem. The overall problem is when you get ranked with the I guess the less inexperienced survivors along with a killer that is clueless. In my opinion, MMR will be a setback for this game for how poorly designed it is. If a more experienced player is involved in the match with inexperienced survivors, it will be stressful for them because some players might go down instantly. This will cause expierenced survivors to complain about the way the killer and survivors played.

The first step to balancing things is having accurate matchmking. They'll balance it eventually... Plus not every survivor goes super sweaty all the time.

I still bet they would fail MMR miserably. My plan for MMR matches would be playing all killers in round robin manner, I did this a week before the old MMR had cancelled, and at least I had some fun switching killers. Yep, I've even played trapper, clown and even nurse who I struggle to play as.

Anyway, the current matchmaking is already a disaster without a name. So at this point...

This is the problem with the current state of the game already. mmr is meant to make that less frequent. The main potential issue with mmr is that once you hit your personal ceiling, you may reach a point where at least as killer you'd rarely get apotato survivor and as survivor you may feel little room to develop in knowledge and skill if you're facing the same kind of situations and the ideas and tactics of the other players stagnate. and at the highest elo, it will probably become even more of a nightmare for killers. I expect half a year or so after everybody hits their ceiling retention for killers will be low at the highest elo due to troll squads lol. Cause they'll know that's all they'll ever see and that restrictions invisibly will liekly be in place to ruin 'deranking' as any hope of a break from it on a kilelr they would actually want to use. I can't wait for those kind of threads by the end of the year.

Do I agree with you? Yes, but not for the reason you gave because that's inaccurate. I think there's too many factors that go into what makes the match and that goes for both sides. I don't think the developers are completely aware of how much we're actually talking in order to make this system as accurate as possible. Lemme explain.

For Survivors: Would generators completed be taken into account? Is how long you're on the generator be taken into account? Are you using a toolbox? Brand New Part? Are multiple people on the generator with you? Is Prove Thyself in effect? What about Spine Chill? Resilience? Did someone your with miss a skill check? Did you miss a skill check? Did the killer come over which stopped you from completing the gen? Were you pulled off? All those questions are just about time on generators (except the first one)

For Killers: Is chase time taken into account? Did the survivor have an exhaustion perk that extended the chase? Were pallets dropped? Did you have some level of stealth and the survivor didn't see you coming? Were they running No Mither? Did you win the chase? Did you have to switch targets due to an almost completed generator? Were you pallet stunned which caused the ability to break the pallet take longer? Was bloodlust gained at all? Is the killer you're playing have mindgame potential or a way to hit a survivor faster even if far away (Huntress, Deathslinger, Demo, Nurse, etc)? Were you using any insta downs? Did the survivor run any really strong loops? Those questions are all for chases.

See what I mean? Those questions are all for small parts of the game that in the end can effect your ability to finish generators faster or finish chases faster. Although some of those questions don't actually measure your skill, they still should be taken into account in order to accurately predict. I'm also not bringing into account "how long should it take for x amount of survivors to finish a gen" or "this is how long the perfect chase should take". Why? Because how are you supposed to measure that? You can't because there's too many variables.

We don't even know anything about their MMR system, so it's impossible to judge it. All we know is they're trying to improve matchmaking because the current system doesn't work. Let's hope for the best.

I just meant the reasoning behind the opinion is inaccurate that the mmr will put the inexperienced up against gods. If they did improve the mmr system (and since they're just tests so far) nothing is final so that shouldn't happen.

They spent billable time on making the MMR thingy...

To toss it out the window is a loss of that $$$$$$

I expect MMR to be bad because every attempt at it has been bad

I wish BHVR would simply match people based on hours played and call it a day

And stop screwing over new killers matching them against many-thousand-hour veteran survivors just to satisfy queues. That only makes the killer shortage and queue times worse because why would those new killers keep playing such unfair matches?

I personally can't wait for it. The clusterfuck will be funny, not to mention if it actually does start to work as it should, can't wait to dodge competitive survivor and killer players by running meme builds and hook suiciding vs spirits/deathslingers. Win win in my book.

I have my hopes up for MMR.

I bought a PC in december (been playing on PS4 and have everything there), I obviously had to start the grind over again and it helps me that I have done it before. BUT:

I am rank1 survivor now and that is solely because I have invested a lot of time played lately. My in-game mechanics though I feel is not good enough to hold my own, yet I face the most sweaty people. It just doesn't feel fair sometimes when I meet someone that is waaaaaay more better that me. I got the most important perks, but thats it. A daily challenge to escape with let's say, Kate, is almost impossible since I have her at level1 atm.

I have mostly been ranking up survivor since I like to play with my friends casually. So when I play killer I have yet only ranked up Bubba (for BBQ) and I am rank 10 killer, but all other killers are pretty much level1-5. With Bubba I can handle my own to at an average of 2K per game, but not anyone else.. I meet the same ranks with other killers as I do with Bubba, it feels wrong when I even haven't tried them out yet and I will. Killer on PC is so much better that on console imo.

I hope the MMR system will help with this! Fingers crossed.

The whole point of MMR is to even up matchmaking - it's not difficult to reach any rank in DbD on either side, it's purely about time invested at this point. Therefore having a more skill based matchmaking should make matches a lot fairer.

ok, thank you for telling me the REAL idea of MMR this is just what I have seen so far in my games.

MMR is currently not activated so you have never seen how it will work.
