Is struggle fickle on PS?

When you're on the hook and struggling it seems like chance if the X key is recognised. The amount of times I've been instantly killed in struggle even though I'm spamming the key is crazy.

    I have no problem with it. Like wiggling you don't even need to do it as fast as you can, doing so can screw you up. Also when wiggling just rotate the stick, rocking it back and forth is bad for the controller. Just be careful not to accidentally hit another button or press down one of the triggers while you're doing it. That's the only thing that gets me sometimes.
