Devs decision to add rift pass cosmetics to the store.
While this is incredibly greedy and scummy, I'll put it simply, I'd be fine with them doing so... if they were to re-color them.
At this point, is there any point in the rift pass? Except for the small portion of players who can enjoy this game long enough (in which case they can do it to save money), there is no point in buying the rift pass. It's grindy as hell and has less tiers than other battle passes. It is actually the worse form of a battle pass I have ever seen, it's so surprising to me to see that fortnite actually did it better despite the concept of battle passes being unpopular at the time. You would see less tiers and think it's more casual friendly, but it instead requires more of your time to get less rewards.
To get back on topic, the devs then go along and put the cosmetics in the store, removing the one main attraction of battle pass cosmetics, that they're exclusive and you have to work for them. Especially with the first rift which was mostly re-skins and other trash cosmetics that you'd never use with double the grind to get them. The very least the devs could do is re-color the skins before putting them in the shop. I hate fortnite, I don't like the br genre and I especially don't like the building but I can still acknowledge that those greedy devs who charged $20 for a skin where still more respectful towards their fanbase than the devs of dbd are. Sure they may make just female tier 100 skins but they never put the originals in the shop.
What's more, with the skeleton trooper they actually made an exclusive version for the players that bought him originally, so both parties where happy. The devs made extra money by selling him again and the players could still expressive that they bought him first. I'm just using fortnite to compare how scummy the devs are in their decisions.

It costs way less to get a skin in the rift than it does after. If you finish the rift you get everything back you put into buying the rift so no I don’t care if people want to spend a lot more than it costs to buy the rift and play the game a lot then let them. No reason to complain if ppl want to spend way more money on skins than playing the game during a rift which might make them better.

I actually love the idea of putting recolor versions of the cosmetics in the store, kinda gives the exclusive premium for the ones who grind the rift and still gives the skins for the ones that couldn't get it.
I don't really mind them putting the cosmetics in the store tho, it's just confusing to me that people say "u save a lot of money when buying the rift" I mean... All rift skins that released can be obtained with shards can't they? So I can totally buy them without wasting money, but, in the rift, I have to buy it and if I don't want to "lose" the money I have to grind it, so I don't really see the point in doing the rift, apart from just getting the cosmetics early

That's considering you'd buy most of the cosmetics. In reality there'll maybe be two cosmetics you actually really want, most of the time it's one with the rest just being cosmetics for characters you don't use (then again, this could just be personal opinion but I believe this statement applies to most people). After that, it's a matter of how much your time is worth to you. Like I said that you just completely ignored, the only point to buying the battle pass is to save money (while still spending money), if only one cosmetic is looking good to you, just wait till it gets released and then you don't have to play the game anymore.
Like I said, despite having less tiers than most battle passes, it actually requires more grinding to max it out. That or there around the same and the game is just so repetitive that I feel like it takes longer. The exclusivity is generally the main appeal of the battle pass, after all, the only people who are willing to buy them are people who play the game enough to complete them and bragging that you have exclusive cosmetics is quite enjoyable.
For most casual players, the fact that it requires an average of 2-3 hours per day and that you need to play both sides to max it out will deter most people, the idea that they can just buy the skin they want later would seem way more appealing, would it not? So once again, other than the small portion people who play this game to an extreme, what is the point of buying the rift pass?

Zzzzzzzz another post of people who like to think they're special just cause they have X skin on a video game. Just let people get cool stuff and get over it
3 -
Well I only started playing in tome 5 so its nice to know that when i buy the rift pass i get all the current stuff and also earn shards so i can get characters, cosmetics, perks, and that stuff that came out when i didnt have the game will be available.

Let it go. You still have unique charms. And rift unique recolors probably never appear in the store. Only original skins and only after big ass delay.

It's actually common practice. Stuff that can only be unlocked by grinding is put in the store eventually. It's so the people who missed out can get it and the devs can make even more $$$. Which is why I don't like battle passes. You play your heart out for something. Once you get it you don't wanna play the game anymore and a few months later it can be bought in the store. Making all your effort wasted.

first of all, if you don't get close to tier 70 the pass isn't worth it at all. If you do get to 70 then use 1000 cells to get it, and blammo you get your 1000 cells right back!!!! AND then you don't have to use iri shards or cells for EACH of the outfits there... so it's still worth it if you are able to get CLOSE to tier 70 and that's because it ends up costing you nothing, so far in the 5 tomes i've hit 70 5 times and gotten 1000 cells back 6 times. for 10 bucks i have 10 divided by 6. that's less than 2 dollars for 1000 cells, or 10 bucks for 6000 cells so Yea that's worth it.
but I know that I did the work to get it without paying for it! that's worth it for me. someone says hey look what I spent 10 bucks on! I say, yea I got that already.... and X, and Y, and Z.... hehehe

I find it funny, the only thing in the rift pass I even wanted was a couple charms but not enough I would spend 1000 cells to get them lol.
If they sold those charms in store I would pay like 50 cells for them each or something.

iirc they said the cosmetics would make their way to the store eventually when they were talking about the first rift. So I wouldn't say they were meant to be exclusive.
I believe the only exclusive thing is the charms, and I don't know if they ever said it was going to stay that way for charms either.

I mean if you get multiple skins for less than the price of one. Plus you can get all your auric cells back if you complete it. I've used the same cells for each rift so I've got loads of charms and skins from multiple rifts all for less than the price of one full outfit. Now I'd say that's a pretty good deal.

do u realize it is slowly and takes a lot of months to appear right?... just started with tome 1 after more than a year and very slowly... also it will cost more in the long run buying them normally, tehse 2 jake and wraith were "free" but still.

For someone who hates fortnite you know a ######### load about it’s cosmetic store and battle pass fam

It was said they'll be available in the store at a later date, I see no problem in doing something they stated they'd do.

That's what you took away from it? Also of course I'd know a lot about the game, my friends played the living hell out of it. There was a time that if I wanted to play with them, then it'd have to be on fortnite. Also not to mention it was the most popular game at one time. What would I gain from lying, that I'm a cool kid who didn't like fortnite from the get go? I don't play warzone, apex, pubg, and all the other battle royales either, like I said the genre isn't my thing. I especially didn't like the building aspect of the game, which is why I liked the game less the more players got better at it.

THe re-colors are released into the store too. The Meg and Hillbilly re-colors were just released two weeks ago.

The devs made this decision under the idea that they didn't want to leave anybody out and have no intention to introduce exclusive cosmetics. That's one reason most of them were given to everyone for free.
The only appeal to getting the pass is getting all of it's items essentially for free, if you complete it. Rather then paying the same amount for just one outfit when it comes to the store.
However, as you mentioned most people won't like every single outfit or even most of them in a single Rift. And a lot of people don't care enough about the charms.
I agree with you. I wish the Rift cosmetics were exclusive, but the devs have made it clear that they don't want exclusives in their game (aside from charms). So we all have to just accept that or not play the game if it bothers us too much. I doubt they'll change their viewpoint on the subject. My best advice it just don't get the Rift if you don't like most of it's items. I do think the devs are missing out on money by not making those cosmetics exclusive. But like I said, I doubt anything will change anytime soon.

The problem with your argument is that the devs are about as consistent as a landmine. The devs originally loved exclusives, they would give them out as codes for all who showed up to their events. You know why those were given to the community? Because people were scamming fake codes and accounts with those exclusive cosmetics, they then went on to say that it was a Christmas gift to the community and did nothing but give a few charms during Christmas.
Then there was the legacy outfits that only pc players could get (reasonably so) that they still refuse to give out. So then what about the event exclusives? You know, the limited time cosmetics that you should only get during the event? Well guess what? Some people's game glitched so they lost them and now they're given to everyone, even though the exact same thing happened to people with legacy and the devs simply said there was nothing they could do about it even if the player supplied proof.
It couldn't get worse you think right? Except after giving away the event skins that didn't cost real money to go out and get the codes and no cases of scams, just a glitch that was the dev's fault, they then go on to say no more exclusives (except for legacy, but let's just ignore that, says the devs), but what about the other events? Let's make them grindy as hell but put the cosmetics in store so you're more inclined to buy it instead of grinding. Also for the 3rd year anniversary, despite saying we were done with exclusives, let's make an entire new event centered around getting an exclusive crown!
Like I respect you for being polite, but you can't use the devs statement as an argument, they've always said one thing then done another. Also I know the devs said the rift pass cosmetics wouldn't be exclusive, but the problem being is that they then went on to wait a year before releasing them without any comment on when they'd be put in the shop or why, so it started seeming more like a popular rumor then confirmed.

As a lot of other people are saying you get the auric cells back that you put into it. I'm happy paying $10 every few months to get that much in auric cells and free skins with it. The archive challenges also bring a ton of bloodpoints too and I'm ok with that.

I still think the crowns will be re-released. Maybe not in the Store but in the next anniversary event. They already gave crowns to Blight, Felix, Twins, and Elodie in the files. So I'd imagine they're gonna let everyone have a second go at getting the crowns (for every character) in the next event.
As for them being silent about the Rift and it's exclusivity, they did state in multiple streams and on their website that it would take a minimum of 6 months to 1 year before the return of those cosmetics. Meaning it could be even longer before we see some of the items. So I never even once thought that it was a rumor.
I understand your meaning on the devs inconsistencies regarding this subject, but I think we can both agree that in the last couple years the devs have done whatever they can to eliminate most of the exclusive cosmetics. And I genuinely believe their stance right now is to have minimal to zero exclusivity (excluding Legacy and charms).
Right now, the only exclusive items in the Rift are the charms and the singular pieces of cosmetics that aren't part of a full outfit (for now). I think the devs were silent on what would return and what wouldn't because they themselves didn't come to a final decision, but for the most part I think they have now, and we have to accept that. Unfortunately.

Idgaf about the crowns honestly, they make you 1000x easier to see and I don't think I've ever used them once. Try looping as Killer with a shining circle a foot above your head.

If you could put them on any head I think they would be a lot more valuable. But since they're stuck on the default head, yeah they're not really worth it.

I'm still waiting for the purple children's party outfit. It's good for people who weren't around to get those old outfits. Plus it's cheaper to finish the rift than buy them all invidually.
