Yeah, suiciding on hook is just as bad as DC'ing. Not only does it hurt your entire team but it also screws over the killers emblems :(

The David in my last match didn't even give them time. The second I hooked him, he used all his attempts and didn't struggle. I barely got to chase him too.

Suiciding is the new DC. So maybe the devs could introduce a mechanic in the mmr that recognizes a pattern of constantly suiciding or afking. Then, when someone does this for a certain amount of time, the mmr matches those people with like minded survivors and afk killers. So all can enjoy the horrible gameplay they expect others to endure.

there is always 2 sides to a story, we dont quit because we dont want to play, we quit cause we see were its going, and 10 out of the 10 times its a game where killer is out for a slaughter instead of having a fun game for all.....and for punishing this in the game by dev's hmmm they really should if they want less and less people to keep playing this game.

its funny to see how much the " your screwing your team " card is played....social pressure....yeah right, thats the great part of spectating a game when you left....doesn't take that long mostly, and always a killer who is just out there to make the game as fun as he can.....survivors leaving with 3 to 8000 bloodpoints, level down or a drop gone....best to control this yourself so there is no one else to blame but yourself...

Ähm, i think you get it wrong. If i hook suicide, i dont do it for you mr. killer. I do it because i got a ######### team that try to ruin the game on purpose. Like i destroy your hex perk, but since they want the points, they fastvault so you come over, and while you chase me, they do the cleansing for the points. They are to blame for you finding me, so why should i keep playing with them? And thats just one example, there are many more. Like, i am on the hook and see noone is on a gen, instead 2 guys are in the basement teabagging each other. Why should i keep playing again?

There are only 3 reasons why killing yourself on hook is viable:
- If your teammates sandbag you more than once.
- If you've led a decent chase just to see your teammates doing jack sh*t.
- If you hit second stage when they definitely could've gotten you before that.
These reasons are really frustrating & I don't see a problem with people suiciding over these.
Though I will say that if you give up because you're going against a specific killer or some other petty reason, you need to get a grip. Seriously.

It’s actually funny because killing yourself on hook ruins other peoples fun and killers get really righteous about this and say how bad it is to do/it should be punished.
Yet camping and tunnelling ruin someone else’s game too but because it’s a ‘viable strategy’ it’s completely fine and should be punished.
The hypocrisy is real.

The responses here trying to justify their ragequits is saddening.
This is why people say solo queue is so bad. Because people like you don't care about anyone but yourselves. The concept of the team is beyond you. Nah, screw that guy desperately trying to rank up. Depip that idiot cause you don't want to deal with <insert petty reasons here likely rooted in impatience>. Who cares if he wants to rank up? You stopped caring, so neither should he! A good matchmaking system is what is supposed to take care of this. Don't blame solo Q or SWF. Its a mechanic of the game. A good system should tier you out of most of the bad survivors who suicide, dc ect...

There's a difference between rage-quitting on the first hook because you given up, and camping a strategic position as a Killer, because you want to win.
In the first instance you could easily come back and win the game, but by quitting you are making that unlikely for 3 other people. In the second instance, camping a 3 gen or contested hook might be the only way to win a game against good survivors. What's the other alternative, just leave the hook when people are obviously dive bombing it, or standing at the other side of the map far away from gens?

Hook suicides/DCs ruin your own teammates' chances of winning by a huge margin. If there's one thing that is a huge no-no, it's intentionally screwing over your own teammates.

I’m not talking about the ones where the killer has no choice otherwise or the ones where it’s the only strategic decision. But a lot of killers camp/tunnel just because they can and it makes the game easier. This still gets defended by most killers on this forum as being part of the game.
And before anyone says it, no I don’t agree with suiciding on hook. I just don’t like hypocrisy

Only time I'll do it is if the team is doing nothing, or if it's my first hook and I'm aware I'm going to be left to die. (Like when I'm playing in a SWF and we agree to have the rest of the team leave while the killer face camps me for the 1k, because we don't mind that loss). I'll also sometimes do it if I just want to get out of the game because it's been an absolute stealthfest and Hatch has spawned- and I really don't want to play hide-and-seek for the next 30 years.

The only time I'll do it is when the connection is terrible for a game, or when I run a killer for 4 minutes and see my teammates all in the corner of the map doing nothing.

It's not to do you dirty, it's to get certain killers nerfed. Look at the Freddy situation. They give up to inflate the kill rate and make it seem like he's a godly force. Since devs only look at stats, it appears he's literally a killing machine, which in turn, gets him nerfed.
The game is bigger than trying to pee you off.

If I see my team doing nothing, I'm irritated, and if they take so long to get to me that I go into struggle I'm not staying. Obviously they had more important things to do so I do as well. Cya in the next match.

A Killer that camps a hook but criticizes suicide on hook is not being hypocritical.
A Killer camping a hook is still doing his objective. A Survivor that suicides on hook is actually sabotaging their objective AND the objective for three other people. The two things could not be more different.

YES, camping a hook is doing an Objective. It is ULTRA LAZY, but he's still getting a kill as a KILLER.
People keep saying this "A game should be fun for everyone" line but the Killer is not there to make the game fun for Survivors. This is a PVP game. He is literally trying to make you lose!

I have never once been in a game where survivors slow down if they pop 3 gens before a hook. Survivors absolutely will end a match in 5 minutes if they can, and since there are four of them the chance one will mouth off is higher.
At best here you are talking out of your ass to uphold some idiotic narrative of us vs them. At worst you're little more than a troll.

The majority of hook suicides are because of their team. It's not some conspiracy to get killers nerfed.

If you are facecamping me or camping hook with some cheesy add-on... I will let go. It's terrible. I hate doing it... but I also don't care about it at the same time. If my team is not doing ######### through my first hook phase after a really good chase, I will also let go.
I don't really care about how the killer or other survivors think about it. I just hit continue and go to the next game :)
Needless to say, I rarely let go these days unless it's end game and killer has NOED to force my team to just leave. Or camping me too far from doors. I don't need or care for you to trade for me.

It may be lazy but sometimes after a hook you dont know where anyone is. If you are camping a hook and someone comes and you take the chase its not a problem its even beneficial as you get 3 survivors off gens instead of 2. It only really becomes a problem if you continue camping after someone comes in and dont take the chase.
Some people are gonna camp no matter what, but for some especially newer players if you make some noise, or come in close enough to take a hit you may be able to pull them away. It also doesn't help that matchmakimg is completely borked right now, so for some once they get that first hook and multiple gens are done its essentially game over anyways.

Too many times I've seen survivors getting hooked in a short time because they all ran off to save just one guy who wasn't smart enough not to get caught in the first place and wasn't smart enough to stop being a bait on the hook. Nah, not giving the killer that opportunity to gloat in the chat.

well thats the issue I see a lot of time. Unfortunately this is simply survivors who dont give a #########/are newbies still. Sometimes it feels like ranks are way to easy achievable especially up to rank 8...

First of all you don’t get to tell others how to play.
Second of all, you have no idea what that other player may be going through or dealing with.
Thirdly, this isn’t employment. No one is contractually obligated to continue a match.
I’m not young. I don’t have patience for BS in this game when I want to have fun. So i’ll hook suicide if for example the only reason I’m on the hook is because some jerk teammate kites the killer onto me.

I think most killers don´t care about hook suicide, because it just makes their game easier and is doing their objective for them.
