Which horror game has the best theme in your opinion?
I wanted to ask some people which horror game theme was the best. AN example is Silent Hills iconic theme music, or O'death from Until Dawn, or even DBDs' theme.
My favorite is RE 7s' Go Tell aunt Rhody, there is just something beautiful and powerful about the song I can't shake off, you feel sorrow for the Bakers, and horror for what they've done. Its a really well done Song.
But enough about that I want to hear your favorite theme

But the Silent Hill theme is genuinely fantastic.

purely based on the games Music, i think i'll go with Dark Deception.
i think they are doing an incredible Job when it comes to their audio design.
i cant really pick out one specific theme though, they are all pretty amazing imo.

I love chase musics from Outlast. They induce fear

Niether of those are bad choices at all. I personally Like Dark deception, and Outlasts' music a bit more then Silent Hill, but there is no denying SIlent Hills' music is a bit dreamy, and makes me want to fall asleep

Go tell aunt rhody is probably my favorite theme in any game tbh. Its one I've genuinely just listened to aside from the game and enjoyed it. I totally agree with you.
Until Dawns song was also pretty good

I would have to say either the Silent Hill 1 theme or the track "I'm looking for Mary" from Clock Tower on the SNES.

Agreed, when I first watched the launch trailer for RE 7 the song, for some reason gave me goosebumps, I loved it.

Based on just what I've played, I legitimately ######### love Specimen 2's chase music from Spooky's Jumpscare Mansion.

The og Resident Evil 2 save room theme (and all the RE save room musics for that matter) are near and dear to my heart and sometimes i justt listen to them and stare out my window. Oh how much i want an RE chapter

I agree with you wholeheartedly that Go Tell Aunt Rhody is amazing. As you said, it depicts the tragedy of the Bakers very well. Have you ever listened to the full song? I love how the lyrics cryptically yet accurately describe the plot of the game. I also love the Barn Fight music from that game. You can't hear it that well over the fighting, but when listening to it on it's own, it perfectly capture Lucas's insanity.
I also have to give a shout out to William Birkin's theme from both the remake and the original. The original sounds regal and empowering, like you're fighting a being far stronger than you. Later into Birkin's malformations, it sound like you're fighting something straight up unholy. The remake sounds gritty and cold, like any humanity Birkin used to have has been drained. Later on, it regains some of the regalness the original used to have.
Sorry for the English teacher analysis, but I just love when music can make you feel things.

Your fine, I wholeheartedly agree "Go Tell Aunt Rhody" is one of the most empowering theme for a horror game. I have heard the whole song and have tried to get inspiration for my own theme for Pinebrook from the song but I am struggling a bit. I remember seeing the truth of the Bakers for the first time, it almost brought a tear, its just so sad. WIlliams theme is really cool but I personally like Super tyrants boss theme the most, the guy literally reminded me of Thanos strangely.
But Jack is still the scariest in my eyes because of how realistic he was, and sometimes I could see only my Dad, someone I trust and care about becoming the monster Jack became. However thats just me

I remember just listening to the save room music and imagining what the Bakers went through, it almost brought a tear to my eye. Which is pretty significant because the last time I cried over a game or movie was when I was 10.

Alien Isolation

If we are talking from a genuinely unsettling horror atmosphere then I’d say Alien: Isolation and Outlast have a great soundtrack. Definitely amazing and unsettling.
DBD and F13 also have great soundtracks but I can’t view them as genuinely scary because I’ve played both games for thousands of hours (around 6000 hours between the two). The soundtracks are amazing though, just not from an unsettling horror aspect.
Also the O’Death theme from Until Dawn is continued in the Dark Pictures games Man of Medan and Little Hope. It’s guess it’s a theme that Supermassive Games just likes a lot, can’t say I blame them.

The excellent atmosphere, sound design, music, and gameplay make it a unique and disturbing experience.

The thing, based off the movie on ps2. The game perfectly matched the horror them with atmosphere and gameplay. Not only did you have to worry about encountering enemies but allies themselves could turn on you based on your actions, environment, and individual sense of fear/paranoia. With limited resources managing weapons, health, and blood test for the group kept things interesting.

Bloodborne was not particularly scary, but the aesthetic was absolutely magnificent. It encompasses everything lovecraftian, from the gothic beasts of Frankensteinian literature to the medieval, arcane, eldritch cosmic horror of Lovecraft, while putting its own twist on it. Byrgenwerth is an absolutely beautiful location, the Hunter's Dream is literally what I want my bedroom to me, upper cathedral ward is majestic, the Fishing Hamlet is the most harrowingly stunning thing I've ever seen, the Orphanage and Mergo's Loft are just something else, and the Research Hall should be a DBD map.

I personally won't touch Bloodbourne due to its difficulty but I have no doubt the music is good
