The second iteration of 2v8 is now LIVE - find out more information here: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/kb/articles/480-2v8-developer-update

The new Game map has 25 pallets, yes you did not read that wrong.

I honestly would like to know who approved of giving the Game map 25 pallets, and at least half of the pallets on this map are god pallets. I took some screenshots of certain things I want to point out.

Image #1

This was the shortest loop I've seen on this map ever since the update, obviously you can get anyone at this loop.

Image #2

Everyone's familiar with this pallet, once it's down there's nothing you can do except break the pallet. But you want to know what makes this even worse?

Image #3

A god pallet can spawn right where I'm standing, which can make this loop even stronger. I didn't get the RNG of this happening, not yet at least.. But seriously two god pallets on the exact same loop!? How is this even remotely fair!?

Image #4

Everyone's familiar with this loop, pretty much was unmindgameable back on the older variation of the Game map. But with the new one this loop is shorter, and you have a good chance to actually get someone here now which is nice.

Image #5

These new god pallets that they added to the new Game map are the biggest ######### decisions did someone make when they came up with this? What's even worse is that you can potentially get maybe two or three of these depending on RNG. How are you suppose to get someone at this pallet if you're playing someone like Myers or Pig? Answer you don't, after you break it you'll just end up at another pallet.

Image #6

Lastly the picture of what you saw from image 5, lead to the ever so familiar god pallets of the up and downstairs at this loop. Once again I must ask, how is then even fair?

You can see why people are calling this map pallet town now right? This sorta reminds me of old Blood Lodge, but it's even worse than that. Devs seriously I must ask what sort of thought process was going through the head when giving this map a lot of god pallets into one another? This doesn't make for fair and balanced gameplay, what people have seen basically shows you another reason why this game can't ever be pushed towards a competitive scene.

The only two good things I'll say about this map are.. It's looks really nice, and there's no fat shaming bug.

Agreed, I love the look of the rework but ######### these pallet spawns.

I want to see if that will reflect in kill rates, game used to be one of the most killer sided maps to exist. Let's wait some time and see if that changes.

They should have at least disabled the Game map after hearing all of the negativity surrounding this map now

  • onemind
    onemind Member Posts: 3,089

I do think there should be more pallets but almost 30 and atleast 4 are god pallets and 12 are safe now idk that seems pretty bad if you ask me

    CheyeneKL Member Posts: 723

I disagree. I don't think they disable maps unless there is a serious issue. And there isn't a serious issue with that map currently, even if it is getting some backlash. People playing the game complain all the time over changes and it's fair to take the backlash lightly when it's only been a couple of days since the changes. Devs are probably listening but I wouldn't blame them if they chose to do nothing until more people have had the chance to play multiple matches on the map AND they've gotten time to gather statistics. If they changed things based on negative reception, then DBD would be an out of control mess hahaa

Maybe there is more, but I counted at least 25. Also it's hard to make sure to not count breakable walls when you're using Zanshin Tactics

Like I mentioned, I haven't gotten to play on the map more than once or twice since the update. How many pallets did the Game used to have? I remember that nearly all of the pallets on the old Game seemed to be completely safe pallets unless you were a killer who didn't really care about pallets

  • onemind
    onemind Member Posts: 3,089

Yea. Ut if you count almost 27 and you have barely moved something wrong

  • onemind
    onemind Member Posts: 3,089

It normally had 3 god pallets but 2 were next to the basement

But now you can have 5 or more possibly and a lot of the unsafe pallets are safe now

I've played on it a lot as survivor and a few times as killer and it's really bad, like I'd rather go to haddonfield bad.

Unless you're playing nurse or something the sensible thing to do is camp or try to slug them all or something equally unfun, because survivors can just throw down every pallet instantly and you still won't be able to get them down quick enough if the others are doing gens. There's no mindgaming most of them, also as a bonus when you do down a survivor sometimes you have to drop them, kick a breakable wall, then pick them up again to get to a hook. It's mind-numbing.

As survivor I lost to a Freddy once and crucified the killer every other time (and my survivor skills are nothing special)

In fairness, all the other reworked maps had very few, very spaced, and extremely unsafe pallets(2 centimeres to either side). I didn't hear any killer main saying this isn't fair. But when one map doesn't end up being killer sided ... the sky starts falling again.

Extremely unsafe pallets? Which reworked map only exists out of extremely unsafe pallets?

  • lambdabr
    lambdabr Member Posts: 19

It has a lot of pallets and it's great. Game is still very killer sided.

  • JHondo
    JHondo Member Posts: 1,174

Deadzones are BS and I heard plenty of survivor complains but no killers arguing back based on the existence maps like Haddonfield that survivors need to just deal with it. My problem isn't having safe pallets it's the overabundance. Hawkins arguably has too many pallets but most are unsafe or actually mindgameable so you don't hear many complaints about it. The Game previously had a lot of safe pallets that the killer had to break to do anything but killers didn't complain and there weren't 25+ of them spawning meters apart creating literal infinites if not dropped or broken.

That map needs to be disabled until it's fixed, the amount of safe pallets are absolutely insane, i have yet to lose on that map as survivor, even the worst survivors can beat the best killer on that map, which shows you how unbalanced it is.

  • Kaiju
    Kaiju Member Posts: 530

Once the pallets are gone, there's nothing to work with, so I get with they put so many pallets since vaults are non-existant

  • Zozzy
    Zozzy Member Posts: 4,759

You shouldn't need anything to work with by that time.

What are the other 3 survivors doing?

  • Kaiju
    Kaiju Member Posts: 530

Yeah the game is over by that point (if u get decent teammates). I was referring during early mid-game those pallets are the only thing that can delay the downs since like I said windows are not an option.

Meanwhile, I'll be very interested in the kill-rate of this map once some time has passed. Originally being in the top 3, I wonder how much that's dropped by.

This map is literally Ormond all over again. There's a pallet every 5 feet and most of them are completely safe which makes it even worse than Ormond.

I hope killers skipped dinner cause they're gonna be eating pallets allllllllll match.

  • bluedusef
    bluedusef Member Posts: 288

This map is bs. why did the people who designed this map think its fun to play against all these safe pallets. i dont like hawkins because of how many unsafe ones it has. we cant we have pallets with atleast some counterplay to them.

  • CountVampyr
    CountVampyr Member Posts: 1,050

To be fair this map is really small. Survivors needs something to slow killers down that already excel with map pressure. I had a match the other day where it took fifteen minutes to get the last gen done against a legion, and he was afk for the first 4. It wasn’t even a case of being 3 gen either.

  • HectorBrando
    HectorBrando Member Posts: 3,167

It also has several of the strongest 3 gen openings Ive seen in a long time, not even old Blood Lodge or old Azarovs had such strong 3gen setups like Ive seen on the top floor of The Game.

Its actually closer to 29, the map has 25 tiles (door tiles are merged with the tiles next to them for pallet spawns)

the 21 non corner tiles have 1 pallet each, with either a pallet on the floor above or a pallet on the floor below

Corner tiles can have more pallets detectives room that always spawns includes 4 pallets 2 top and bottom

Staircase has 2 pallets one top one bottom (up to 27 now)

the other corners have 1 pallet each and include the drop down room with the staircase

the room with the pallet behind a storage rack

and the room with the top floor pallet that is next to a hole in the floor

most of the corner room pallets are god pallets with 3/5 of those tiles including god pallets

This map is complete garbage. For killer it's super boring because chases consist almost exclusively of breaking pallets and for survivors the same. There's no mindgame possible, just chase and hit spacebar until there's no more pallets to break. Just replace me with a bot when i get this map please.

  • vacaman
    vacaman Member Posts: 1,140

But don't you think that they should add more windows and walls to do some interesing loop instead of just dropping pallets all the time or die? There should be an inbetween.

I don't know what The Game y'all are getting because most of the times I'm on it as a survivor, killers choose not to break the breakable doors which turns half of those great pallets into complete dead ends which you cannot escape from.

I won't be surprised if the normal amount is closer to 30 (not counting breakable walls) and you just got lucky. Add in the walls and you've got around 40 pallets/walls on the map. The walls also sometimes block off paths to hooks, so it's either leave them up to trap Survivors but struggle to get to hooks or kick them so you can get to hooks but you can't trap Survivors there anymore and gives them more opportunities to loop you. The Game already had issues with hook generation, but the rework made it even worse.

  • ChiTenshi
    ChiTenshi Member Posts: 877

There are also the breakable doors that when left alone turn select rooms into dead ends. I feel like some of the people on this discussion break the doors because they can and then regret their decision later. Like all maps that have breakable doors, not all should be broken.

They ruined this map. All they did was go all-in on the problems this map already had. I can't wait for the Haddonfield rework where every area has a giant one entrance fence and a gen inside of a house.

  • Rivyn
    Rivyn Member Posts: 3,022

A 'little more' survivor sided? You literally have god pallet after god pallet stacked here. Nearly every loop is safe. This isn't 'more balanced,' this is something going wrong in the algorithm. Instead of actually making the map fun for both sides, they simply flopped and made it a pallet simulator. Do you really need to play more than two matches to know the devs f'ed up on this one?

And don't forget about the breakable walls everywhere. I've had survivors wiggle off because my route to hooks is blocked by two in a row on just the nearest hooks. As survivor, I've been trapped in multiple dead ends because of them.

No, this was a rushed job. Devs slapped a pretty look on it, then shipped it. Look at the quality of the rest of the update, that should give you a good indication how this one was handled.

And how many vaults are there? Because I can think of 2 jungle gyms, 1 height vault drop, a freezer window, and a security window. There’s a reason the map is a pallet heavy map. It’s designed to be like that.

Just use Hex: Blood Favor and get the hit BEFORE the pallet, wow like come on. /s

Seriously tho The Game was my favorite map and im glad it got a change but the new calorie count from pallets you'll be eating in this realm is rediculous.

I actually completely agree with the thread creator, but you may we'll be onto something.

I'd say at this point, a good amount of maps are fairly killer sided or were balanced to be less of a pain in general for killer. Ormoumd is great for killer now. I think it's fair to have a level design that gives Survivors a small advantage....

But they also do need to fix those fatshamming spots they made on other maps ASAP

  • HectorBrando
    HectorBrando Member Posts: 3,167

I have noticed those doors are not like other maps breakables, the breakable doors at The Game isolate hooks instead of making infinite loops, I have had Survivors wiggle because the only close hooks were behind breakable doors.

If this is intentional my guess is they want Killers to strategize if either they want easier to access hooks or dead ends.

I just want to point out that there are a ton of deadzones for survivors due to breakable walls. You enter an area and become trapped. I would like for them to really look at both sides because the amount of places with 2 pallets but no way to leave but to go through the same door downstairs is really bad.
