This Magnum Opus/Mightee One stuff is really gaudy and out of place
All this bright pink-blue neon stuff, it feels extremely out of place for a horror game.
I sincerly hope this neon stuff is has nothing to do with the upcoming Killer, and they are completely unrelated with a totally different aesthetic.

Look at the cosmetics we have
This survivor is from the real world is she not?

I'm also really not a fan of all the neon cosmetics. Again, they look really goofy and out of place. I really wish DBD had stuck to it's original dark and grimy aesthetics, but I guess bright obnoxious stuff makes money.

I think it's a survivor, but people are thinking it could be a killer so who knows... definitely seems like a hack or technology related chapter though, I'm not sufe, we just have to wait and see.

as if it matters? we just had realistic turning motions stripped out so survivors could breakdance and moonwalk. If the game is going to be a joke they might as well go all-in.

This is not a horror game more horror themed.

Horror is a genre not a theme. Meaning they can do literally any theme they want and it will fit just fine if done right. Theme is entirely different.
Also, it most likely is reflective of the new chapter; and visually it's not far off from a ton of other crazy stuff in the game cosmetically.

It's not the 1990's anymore. It's a modern horror game set in the modern time with (mostly) modern characters.
If they want to design a theme with a neon aesthetic, then it makes sense since that's a popular aesthetic in the modern world, especially in locales like Japan and Korea (where its theorised the next Chapter draws inspiration from).

There is more to horror than lots of shadows, tense music and close up angles.
Horror can take a lot of forms as long as it manages to disturb the audience.
I think I'll reserve judgement on a tonal shift until it's fully released.

...Huh?
There can be neon styles in games and still have a horror theme to them. Doesn't mean it's not still horror. Not everything has to be dark and grimey if it's to be considered scary.
I mean, just look at the game's lore. Imho, the scariest thing about it is Clown. He doesn't look or feel scary to verse in game past the initial stuff, or unless you have clourophobia, but man his lore is freaky.
My point is, you can give killers and characters neon-themed outfits and designs and still make it spoopy. (Heck, they've even done a neon-style before. Just look at Yui's teaser trailer. Started off super fast-paced and neon, but we still got a decently grungy survivor and the Oni from it.)

Their art department has always nailed things visually we've never really had any issues with them outside of survivor's heads/faces for some reason but I think that is a poly engine limitation more than anything.

yep

I mean these are clothes the survivors probably wore. One of the things that defines nea as a survivor are her very expressive outfits same goes for yui and Jane. If you don’t like them you can continue to use the cosmetics you do like

no matter what it is you are still gonna play on autohaven vs a trapper after the chapter comes out.. just because one chapter looks odd rn it wont change the gameplay and everything else.. the killer will still look cool and scary with a lust of murder and the survivor will look probably like feng or yui.. legion doesnt look that scary either but still fit in his own way and adds something to the game.. 99% of the game we have now will still be there when this chapter comes out

I think it is a little too early for that, but I have to agree with you. I don't think the neon stuff fits DBD. It never did, and probably never will.
2 -
The whole "if you dont like it, just dont use it" argument is completely flawed because even if you dont use them, you still gotta see other people use them.
2 -
What about character identity though? Yui always wears neon or bright clothes as that’s her style. No different to how Jeff wears jeans and leather jackets.
Anyway why doesn’t this have a place in the game where you blind pyramid head with a flashlight in the badham preschool?

This is really amusing
All cosmetics are from that characters lore/life
As the entity is a being out the constraints of time or space he could realistically take the same survivor at the same time from any point in their lifetime (whether they're wearing all black, a bondage outfit or a neon shellsuit).
Some characters having colourful clothes is in fact much more thematic to DBD's lore, I dont think survivors just get a fresh change of clothes when they get there.

They haven't revealed anything to actually have an opinion on it yet.

The only thing I don't prefer is the seemingly apparent "power creep" of survivor's backstories/lore. They're doing a good job with it, even if I don't prefer the character so far.
Don't get me wrong, a hacker chick sounds cool but it's a few more steps above most survivors imo. (Or maybe it's just my want for Carl the cashier to be a playable survivor)

That's another thing I dont like either. Every Survivor has to be a cool or inspiring figure. They cant just be average random people anymore. It's not just the new survivors that fall victim to this either, due to the additional lore from the archives.
1 -
Yeah, I wasn't sure what to call it, aside from a power creep. For recent characters, I think Zarina is the most average, and before that was Jeff.

It could be an extraordinary survivor and the effects only explain their personality or what they are doing.
I'm sure we'll be impressed when everything is clear with pictures and explanations.

Can we at least wait for the actual reveal before we start claiming this chapter is going to be out of place.

The last chapter had a reveal trailer drop the day of the ptb iirc.
Otherwise most other chapters didn't have a trailer until the day the dlc was coming out.

Sorry, but the licensed chapters are not linked to the genre of terror? and then why are they in this game? I think what you said doesn't make any sense, it's an asymmetrical survival horror game.

You know Feng Min have a neon teal and a neon gold outfit for years now right?
I don't think neon colors are the issue its just neon lights outside of things like shop signs would be out of place though.

Ok let me rephrase, its a horrror game but not a scary horror game.

New killer has disco lights strapped to his head that give you seizures irl when playing survivor. Ez wins.

Ah so they've taken the Doctor approach I see

If you don't like it play something else
