Entity to hide items

Do you know they have the game where the survivors cannot tell the add-ons of the killer it would be nice if the entity blocks the killers view of what the survivors are carrying at the beginning of the match. They only way he knows is to see them in the match. That way the killer kid not just put Franklin’s on because he see someone with a key or with other gear just my opinion what does everyone else think?

Yeah, everything should be hidden in the lobby, even the names.

    PS: Offerings too

Unfair the game Caters to the killer enough you most be a killer only player to even suggest that it’s unfair.

I think it's good as is. Being able to see survivor items is a way to help balance for not only how wildly they can change gameplay flow depending on the item, but also balances for the 4v1 nature of the game.

Also chests exist and you can drop/swap items with other survivors, and the rarity/add-ons aren't shown, so it is a limited knowledge at best. You can see a key in the lobby, and do everything you can to stop it, just to find out at the end you let the other three escape over a green key that didn't even have add-ons.

Nowhere did he suggest you should be able to see the killer's addons.

Honestly I play a bit of both and the game is certainly overall more survivor favored (although certain killer things are favored to killer as well). If you've played since the beginning you can definitely tell the trajectory of the game has been more to appease survivors than killers.

As for the topic at hand, I think the info doesn't tell you a whole lot and I don't think very many killers will A. Pick Franklin's just because of a key. They will likely use whatever build they normally do and B. A lot of killers im sure don't pay that much attention since they are messing with their own stuff anyways (and some characters its hard to tell if they have a key). Its a very minor benefit to killer to me. Survivors get to plan the items their team has anyways which in some ways is more beneficial than killer knowing

Well that's not the only thing you said. "Your suggestion to show the Killers add ons is NOT equivalent to seeing items."

But regardless, it's still bad that killer get to see survivor items in lobby. It just encourages hosing gameplay and that is never good. Item like broken key + Weddng Ring for instance never see play because doing so is basically invitng a death sentence hen all you wanted was an aura-reading item.

As you yourself have said, knowing survivor item loadout is not powerful.

So why not just remove it?

It just promotes sweaty gameplay and discourages survivors from using items. Items are mostly crap already as it is there's no need to give killers information on the loadout.

    JPA Member Posts: 1,685

The problem there is the fact the broken key has the same model as regular keys, which is ridiculous and should be fixed.

It has nothing to do with the fact you can see items in the lobby.

I said knowing the item loadout is less powerful than knowing the perks, but I still think not seeing the items would be too powerful, e.g. I don't know whether to bring Franklin's if I see 4 medkits, or whether to bring an Iri Head if I see a key.

No. Killers need to know what items a survivor is bringing. Seems perfectly fair to give them a little preparation to counter said items.

No I said the game already has it where you cannot see what the killer is bringing as an add-on so why should he be able to see what we’re bringing. Like I said before I play both sides of the game not just one sided like you JPA. And that’s BS as soon as a killer sees a key that person is tunneled. The killer has enough edge as it is. That’s why it gets boring to play killer. One hit downs gens locked, seeing through walls see people across the map, seeing scratch marks. The fact that you need more is crazy.

Most people have bigger issues with having a good bit of second chance perks (ds, deadhard, borrowed time,, etc), (safe and unsafe) pallets galore, also getting to see across the map (and communicate that info to your whole team in swf), flashlights with instant blinds, keys to open exit super early and always have a guaranteed open hatch.

You may play a good bit of both but you do argue very heavily for survivors more than most players even. If you think killer is over powered let me know how rank 1 is without using any info perks, gen perks, and no one hit down killers (although most 1hit killers aren't that high tier). Guarantee you won't even pip.

Killers have some bs but nothing you listed is among the issues (most debatable is some 1 hit kills but even that isn't very well accepted). Never heard of anyone complaining about scratch marks

I play both sides actually, and lately I've actually been playing more survivor, but thanks for the incorrect assumption.

I already carefully explained to you why seeing the Killer's add-ons is considerably more powerful than seeing the survivors items, and you haven't acknowledged or responded to that message but proceeded to just repeat your original point. Great job!

survivors have to deal with 1 power and 2 addons

killers have to deal with 4 items and 8 addons, its only fair they get to prepare ahead

Also to tag people so they see you responded press the quote button at the bottom of their message then in the leave a comment it should tag the comment you are referring to

I want to skip the second lobby entirely. Once you search for a match when it would be a full lobby you go directly to the match.

It only makes sense that the killer knows what you’re carrying and you can’t see his. Your characters aren’t there of their own free will. They were abducted and not in an inherent position of power to “know” what killer they’re going to face.

There are lots of killers who swap to super sweaty builds if they see a lobby full of medkits, toolboxes or flashlights. Keys aren't the only problem.

Lobby view just encourages toxic sweaty play. You're even a living example of it, bringing Iri Heads when you see a key or bringing Franklins etc. As bm33 said it's better if we just skip the lobby altogether and just jump into the match directly.

Killers may have needed to know the loadout 5 years ago when DBD was definitely more survivor-sided, but it's largely unnecessary today.

Flashlights haven't had instablinds for years (barring bugs) and there is no way to open the hatch super early.

It's like we're not even playing the same game.

I played a game the other day and was geting fully blinded if I remotely looked at a particular survivor. Blind in less than half a second. Maybe they hacked but it definetly happened. I would see them and turn and still get blinded.

Early hatch was in reference to keys with hatch spawning before all gens done (although not automatically opened) sorry that wasn't clear

  • Shirokinukatsukami
    Shirokinukatsukami Member Posts: 1,624

That's either a bug or a cheater. Either way it is not part of the normal game.

There is no such thing as an "early hatch" by your definition, the hatch spawns when it is designed to spawn. Hatches are like wizards, they are never late nor are they early. They spawn precisely when they mean to.

    JPA Member Posts: 1,685

Here we go, "sweaty" builds. A team bringing 4 med-kits probably wants to not die. A team bringing loads of toolboxes probably wants to smash gens out quick, or sabotage to destroy the Killers pressure, and win, does that constitute "sweaty" too? If you're a decent player you don't need an item all of the time.

Bringing an item is a definite indicator of wanting to try hard in a match, so I think it's fair the Killer can adjust their build accordingly.

My Iri head comment was largely a joke, I don't even play Huntress that much so I can't even do that for the most part (that's another thing, we are locked into our Killer choice now, it's not like we can change the Killer if we see items). I brought an iri head in response to a key+map once, and felt bad as from the gameplay they seemed to be very casual players, and probably console too as they didn't say anything in chat (after the 4k at 5 gens lol)

  • IWasLeft2Die
    IWasLeft2Die Member Posts: 2,405

Alright ill keep that in mind. Yeah i havent had many flashlight blinds in a bit but that was just way too much and I felt powerless to do anything. Id get blind before I could swing. Im willing to bet its not a normal thing or meant to happen.

For hatches, I'm mostly arguing that they spawn earlier than is reasonable as a design flaw, which is kinda whats happening in this entire thread. Its a pretty subjective thing and I get other people dont agree but I just hate getting hosed as a killer when a team full of keys get out so easily (and I think it greatly motivates players to abandon teammates which also sucks). Hatches right now give much less reason to help players which I dont think is healthy for the game (and is also not balanced for killer in some ways, such as if a killer shuts down a team on 5 gens then the killer shouldn't have to lose his advantage over the last player since they hid the best and do nothings get a free exit).

Sorry for the hatch rant. I just got back in the game and way before survivors needed a couple gens done before hatch spawned for last survivor opened (which I loved and thought made sense myself) and really hate its not that anymore and I need to get over it frankly lol

    Great quote by the way

  • Captaincrazy83
    Captaincrazy83 Member Posts: 22

Most definitely. Lol blinds can be hard when playing a good killer or from missing the Survivor trying to blind you.

  • AsherFrost
    AsherFrost Member Posts: 2,340

So, to be clear, do you consider groups that carry 4 toolboxes, or 4 medkits or 4 flashlights to be "sweaty"? If so, why shouldn't the killer respond in kind? If not, why not?

  • They hide the killer in the lobby for a reason

  • Mringasa
    Mringasa Member Posts: 980

This is why if there are 2 other toolboxes in the Lobby, I'll switch to a medkit or map. More than 2 makes it way too one-sided early game and can cause serious late-game problems with Camping and other such "sweaty" behavior because we blew gens up so fast. It also tends to bring out the Franklin's, so I'll switch to something I don't mind losing.

Killers should always have the chance to react to what Survivors do in the Lobby. It's 4v1, so you really need that little bit to tune your build sometimes.

I do think ALL Offerings should be hidden though. It's a private thing, and no one needs to know I popped a Mori, or a Shroud, because those are the only hidden Offerings. Maybe have "everyone" BP Offerings be visible to the affected parties, so they know about that.

For reasons stated above, this is a terrible idea. Survivors can hide items (like keys) at the start of the match only to pick them up later.

It's fine the way it is.
