Why can't we see the Killer's username in lobby?
I need to ask this question because I get people that specifically hunt me down and face camp me while sending toxic messages. I would rather dodge these lobbies and get into a match with people that don't hold grudges because I looped them for 4 gens.

I mean, you answered it yourself.
Lobby Dodging.

Honestly idk, I'm kinda curious now
It makes sense, but idk if that could be the reason when the killer can do it

That is indeed the reason. When survivors could dodge, they dodged to the point that it broke lobbies. Killers don't dodge nearly as much as survivors did, and when they do dodge, survivors don't have to requeue or anything, so it's fine.

two main reasons, harassment, and "I don't like that or the way in which this guy killed me before so I'd rather sit another 20 minutes in queue and blame him and behavior for it on the forums while I wait". iirc, when the game came out we could find out who the killer was and also see each others' ranks and both things caused problems

Wow survivors could dodge before? Okay then if it's something that happened it makes sense, thx for explaining!

I think the Killers username and everyones rank absolutely should be visible in lobbies as well as an indicator of people in groups/parties together

All names should be shown only at the end imo. That would be more fair.

They were so salty that they made a program to block killers and dodge them called MLGA .
Some streamers had problems finding games because they played nurse at the time. It got so bad that the Devs had to step in and "ask" the creator to disable it.
Dedicated servers stopped it.

@SocialDistomancy I'm not some whiny Survivor main, I play the whole game. It's not so much the face camping as toxic messages, I report them both in game and on Xbox...nothing gets done about it and I really try to enjoy this game despite its many issues.

Killer streamers would be sniped every match they streamed.

#########?? Omg never thought people could take something so far like that and literally abuse the system to the point that a program was create. That actually disgusts me, thank god it isn't like that anymore

They could also be added to people's friends list and just ask them to farm

Ranks use to be visible. They removed it to stop Lobby Dodging.

@Another_LegionMain Well if their matchmaking system worked (and I'm hoping the upcoming system works), it wouldn't be an issue

Yeah I know but don't worry about it. Even if they target you in game you can outplay them. And it is not like their playstyle differs much from some other people that are playing against you for the first time. It is just another day in the fog believe me. Just do what you can. You can set your profile to private to avoid toxic messages.

DbD working in any form? Don't make me laugh. Seriously don't, I have a sore throat.

I'm going to chime in because I feel like MLGA is being a bit mischaracterized here without the context of why it was used. It isn't needed now since dedicated servers, but to be fair back in the days of p2p DBD, ping was one of the bigger factors of performance and it could highly influence in-game performance since it relied on killer's Internet to host. Killers could see survivor pings, and survivors could only see their own ping, so a 3rd party app like MLGA gained popularity so survivors could see killer's ping on DBD. It was used for lobby dodging sure, but it's not like it wasn't always without reason because no-region match-making meant high-ping killers being paired up with you, or a killer could just induce lag through lag-switching which was a lot easier back then/

You have no idea how much longer this would extend wait times.

well maybe in lobby, but once in the matcht he killer does need that information available since it helps in some situations like against a 4 man swf all with the same characters, trinkets, and cosmetics to deliberately confuse the killer. when you see the portrait you can know which you injured through it, help keep track of them in the gameplay and also keep track of death hooks that way. without that capability they'd probably straight up never let another lobby like that get a match in the game ever again I bet.
1 -
Fair point. They could add numbers or something beside portraits to help differentiate.
1 -
That could work, for some people even better actually like for myself.

@Skarkio Would you mind not assuming I'm a Survivor main("your fellow survivors")? I play the whole game and love playing Myers,Plague and Blight as much as I play Survivor and only solo queue for the latter role. I said nothing about being able to access the Killer profile either, just make it visible...but I think I like Shaped's idea more: just no names shown whatsoever until the end. You can't use the games assymetrical format to justify Killers being toxic either, toxicity is toxicity and that's the bottom line. Finally, I do report them and provide visual proof...nothing happens, that's why I started this thread. Have a good day
