LGBTQ
Sexuality has no place in this video game. Why is everybody so hung up on wether the new chapter is going to have an LGBT+ theme? Its a horror game about people getting hung on hooks.

It seems like the only people hung up about it are thinly veiled homophobic people.

Reading the comments on those discussions should tell you why they discuss it.
22 -
Because heterosexuality is already present in the game.
why didn’t you complain when that was added? And they added those while saying they don’t want to reveal any kind of sexuality of their chars. The devs have seen their mistakes. Can you see it too?
28 -
I didnt even notice. Thats why Im confused here. Im not homophobic or anything but it just seems like things like a character's sexuality just aren't important to interesting character development.
15 -
If it's not a detriment to anything and does good why not have it?
15 -
Surely it depends on the character?
4 -
Oh you didn’t notice?
but you are making a thread about how sexuality doesn’t belong into a game that already has sexuality in it?
sorry but it just seems like your actual problem is not sexuality but solely LGBTQ+.
25 -
Heterosexuals already have their fair share of representation within the gaming community. But as soon as people suggest to make characters part of the LGBTQ its an issue?
Post edited by Kellie on16 -
It definetely can be if it's done right.
It also helps people to connect to the character and their story
16 -
What good does it do? It seems like it would still just be DbD either way.
7 -
You are aware that one of the biggest tropes in slashers is about sex?
Beyond that, representation is important. If all you see is straight people, it makes LGBT+ people seem even more alien, and we get ostracised even more. And besides, we've been asking for years and it still hasn't happened is it really so surprising the forums have exploded this time? After all that pent up frustration that the game tries to include every bit of diversity except for us?
Edit: maybe I should add a little something else: It's not about who we sleep with. It's about identity. About acceptance.

Way To make a problem where there isn't one. No its not about it. And me not noticing it makes my point stronger. Sexuality had no effect, so why is it such a hot topic. Thats what this post is about.
Calm down there, Warrior.
6 -
Its not an issue for the five bajillionth time. I just dont see why its drumming up so much excitement. I don't get it.
3 -
Let ya’ll tell it, it has no place in video games, movies, tv shows, school, work, public places, or politics. Then where, pray tell, DOES it have a place?
13 -
I guess that makes sense. I can see how some people could see that as important.

Bedroom.
JK btw.
6 -
You are a making the problem though. And you should calm down, you are the one creating a thread where STFU stands in the title.
we will get representation, the devs want to be inclusive. You will have to deal with this fact.
it is really only such a hot topic because there are people against it. And there is no valid argument against it when we already have heterosexuality featured (otherwise it would be completely different)
7 -
Between you and ther person you love. After all that's what makes it special right? Something beautiful shared only between you and those closest to your heart? Throwing it out everywhere just makes it seem... less special.
2 -
THAT'S THE POINT!
All lgbtq people have ever wanted was to be treated like we exist like everyone else does and to be treated like humans instead of oddities. Nothing will change about dbd it will just have a new character that represents a piece of this world that so many try to pretend doesn't exists.
13 -
Lmao Its an internet forum, don't blow a fuse.
2 -
lol you would think so, but people try to police people’s bedrooms, too, believe it or not.
6 -
Do you really not see the irony in what you are writing?
you are the one that can’t handle that people are discussing this topic
11 -
Clearly I can handle it very well, considering that I started up a conversation of my own about it.
2 -
I think we all need to calm down. Things are getting heated. Let's all remember to be respectful
2 -
You're Right. I apologize if my posts offended anyone.
2 -
Not gonna lie, the title of your post is kinda offensive
8 -
Not my intention. Sorry.
2 -
I have changed the title of this discussion.
1 -
Awweh thank you <3

You started the topic with telling people ‚to shut the ######### up‘
and if you re-read my comments I remained civil and neutral, I didn’t call you a homophobe but pointed out that it may seem like you have a problem with the LGBT-part instead of the sexuality part. Also reread it in a calm way, because that is how I wrote those comments.
7 -
No problem. Sorry it was offensive. I never mean to hurt anyone with my posts.
2 -
Okay.
1 -
I don't think you need to apologize. You just asked a question and shared your opinion.
To answer your questions on why it matters I guess the simplest answer is that it feels nice. It nice to see yourself accurately portrayed in any piece of media. And in any piece of media you like characters more when you cam relate to them in some way. Also in the past the community hasn't been painted in the best way and we just recently better representation.
I hope this helps.

This post is a perfect example that when we all act like adults that there doesn´t need to be bad blood <3

I've only seen LGBT people really hung up on whether the new chapter has it or not. It's actually kind of confusing, the front page of General Discussions last I looked has quite a few new posts on the LGBT topic, all made by LGBT people, claiming that people should stop being homophobic or upset that there might be an LGBT character. Except I don't see ANY forum posts complaining about it EXCEPT by LGBT people -- primarily them pre-complaining that this new character might be "done wrong" or not meet some standard or something. To be honest, at the moment the forums sort of looks eccentric, full of a lot of people making new posts on the same topic pretending to be at war against these imaginary homophobic posts that don't exist.
The closest I've seen so far to anything anti-LGBT, and this is a bit of a stretch to even call it that, was some comments concerned that the introduction of a LGBT character might be more based on political correctness than actually trying to properly represent the demographic.
2 -
Sexuality makes no difference in gameplay so no, I don't think it's necessary. But if they add an lgbt character then idc.
6 -
I knew even beofre checking this out that someone would be like "WhY LgBt ChArAcTeRs In A hOrRoR gAmE" when the real question must be "Why not?"
This is for sure the "I don't care about sexuality ig as long it isn't lgbt" straight bias
Yup, I was right
5 -
Literally the first comment in this topic is a complain agains't it and so is in the others topic I have read
I'm assume that u guys are so homophobic that u don't realize it

Because, I need someone else to camp but Claudette. So,a new stereotype will do well. I mean with the fact of the massive neon colors It will be like a toxic Meg fresh out the box. If we are going by the new thing coming out anyways.

Sexuality has been in games since you ever were able to romance an NPC of the same sex, the difference is that the character defining trait was not his/hers sexuality, aka, forcing something that adds absolutely nothing except being PC. You want representation? OW has representation and no one cares, if a character is good or fun it does not make a difference where they are from, their race or their sexuality, that is the point. If you really want to make a character all about their sexuality then at least make it matter.
That brings us to the "Why?" "Why not?" part. Representation for the sake of representation is a good reason not to define sexuality and leave it to interpretation.

With all the backstory elements already present in the game it does make sense to also include LGBTQ+ topics. It’s not only about direct sex but self-identity, experiences and struggles in life, meaningful relationships etc.
thats why we are at the „why not“ question. It’s most definitely not only about sexuality. And the devs agree.
3 -
That's because moderators exist on these forums, and if we check the forum rules:
Funnily enough (and I mean, who could've guessed this one), homophobia falls under the category of discrimination. As confirmed, too, by @Gay Myers (Luzi), "Homophobia has no place on these forums."
So the reason you don't see any homophic comments is because, contrary to popular belief, the moderators here do their job.

Thats the thing, the backstories never portrait sexuality and I don't think adding it would benefit anyone or raise any type of awareness as players expect fiction and will see it as fiction. For all we know all characters are LGBTQ+, why? Because it is never stated otherwise.
I don't mind if they take that route, I just think that it achieves little and there are better ways to represent people but if you think otherwise I won't argue against it.

That's where you're wrong. Since the Nurse, multiple characters have had heterosexual relationships mentioned in their lore.
4 -
Nurse, Legion (Frank and Julie), David, Felix, Oni. And to a lesser extent Ace and Wraith.
and the devs confirmed all of those are in fact heterosexual relationships.
4 -
- Felix + his gf, he/him x she/her, het relationship.
- David + his ex, he/him x she/her, het relationship.
- Nurse + her husband, she/her x he/him, het relationship
- Frank + Julie, he/him x she/her, het relationship
There's no confirmed "they're 100% straight" but there's also no confirmation on bi/pan either, and so it's much more likely for them to be straight as only ~8% of the global population is LGBTQ+.
We don't need a confirmed LGBTQ+ character either, but a relationship, like what we have for heterosexual relationship representation. That's all we ask for.
5 -
Also I explained in the very comment you quoted that LGBTQ+ is not only about sexuality only. I gave even examples on what else it might mean in a persons life.
3 -
Dude, I asked for a LGBT character, stop with "ThIs DoEsNt afTc tHr GamEplAy,bAcKsToTy"
And as I said, make a big deal about a sexual preference of a character show how much u guys """don't care""" about it
I think we would take ur word seriously if u were part of the Lgbt community but I think we need to give a special aility or backstory to a gay character

But yeah,man
If we add a LGBT character we will have a rainbow pack, and his special ability will be ######### any hunter of the same sex, yeah
