When playing Killer, do you give the hatch if others DC'd?

I always give the hatch to the last one standing if their teammates DC'd on them early, especially when a whole SWF DCs. I know what's like to be in solo queue just to have salty "teammates" dip because they got hooked in under two minutes.

No way. Their chance was trying to find the hatch before I did because I didn't slug, and they failed so they don't get another chance. The DC is already hurting my pip points, and a hatch escape will only make it worse.

Most of the time yes. I feel really bad when survivors have teammates abandon them.

Unless I'm working on a challenge, I always let the entire team go unless the dc is way late into the game.

I also tend to give hatch even if no one dc's. Unless I'm doing a trophy/challenge I'm normally very casual when I play.

Yeah, I figure I might as well since their team left them.

    Usually, yes.

Had 2 dc when no gens were done last night, let the other 2 go. But the pc player still had to tbag at the gate like they were skille for something

Only if they don't wiggle, Im not good enough to care about pip as killer ( il stop caring about pip as survivor when the mme drops)

If it’s early game, then yeah, might as well. Don’t see any harm in it as the DCs already messed up both of our points. No point in trying so hard for that one kill.

If I find the hatch first though, I’m closing it. They can get the door.

Pretty much. There isn’t a whole lot of ways to communicate thank you other than maybe leaving your item behind, which to me is a silly offering unless its a crap item.

Well.. i wish i could play with you. Just today i had a match where all the survivors left one after the other and left me alone. the killer didn't want to lose that game and i could not make it.

I have mercy for lonely survivors too.

Depends on several things but if he doesnt have VAC bans (of any kind and it doesnt matter how long ago), doesnt seem like a distasteful individual, its in the early game and didnt try to pull some lame stuff I would give him hatch.

P.D. Console players do not apply, they get the hook always.

P.D. 2 Mainly because I cant check their profiles to see if they have VAC bans or -rep infested profiles (anyone with several "-rep camps" gets the hook, no exceptions).

I used to but then I realized it wasn't solving the problem. In the old days where people could DC during the loading screen I went easy on people because it was a genuine DC. Nowadays majority of people who DC are rage quitting. When that happens I don't go easy on the remaining 3. I play as normal. In the end game chat I say "sry someone quit" but if they cop an attitude with me for not going easy. I tell them "Don't be mad at me. Be made at your teammate that rage quit the moment they got caught". I do that in the hopes that people will start filing reports against the quitting survivors instead of the killer. Very unlikely it will amount to anything but one can hope.

letting the 4th get hatch was a must for me. If there was a DC or suicide early I would take my foot off the gas and make sure the rest got points and probably survive. This was because I played both sides and had a sympathy for both roles . However that same courtesy is not giving by both roles and therefore I stopped and will slug the ######### out of you before I let you get the hatch. If you survive you earned that #########. This change of heart as I have said before happened when I learned nurse and every game I played (when I sucked) I was tortured/abused by every single survivor. Not 1 and I truly mean not 1 was respectful with there gameplay only 1 nice message after there **** gameplay. I won't go into details because killers and survivors know what happens. Even the survivors that claim they don't do sorry I don't buy it. Something clicks in you when you get someone learning a new killer and you can't help yourselves. Well now enjoy 4 minutes in the dirt.

To give hatch means I had to kill two other survivors. If it was fair to give hatch to one why not the other two?

If a survivor DCs 3s into the match, I will sometimes let the others go. Sometimes I will kill them all. Depends on how I feel at the time.

What's the reasoning behind hooking any consolers in this situation?

  • ArchFox
    ArchFox Member Posts: 205

If it happens at the beginning at 5 gens or something then I usually switch to just farming with them instead.

I often wiggle when I'm the last, letting know to the Killer I don't want the hatch. Because why me and not the other one who were hooked right before?

But if they insist, I take it. No need to insist myself if they really want to spare me.

If I cant see their profile I cant know if they deserve it or not, Im not nice towards people who are not nice, if they behave unnecessarily scummy in the game I wont give them anything and Im not talking about "bad killer he killed me" or "bad survivor he refused to die" messages, I talk about pages of "this guy facecamps" or "this Survivor just tries to be a pain in the butt for no reason"/"sandbags teammates", VAC bans etc.

Since I cant know that with console players I prefer to just hook them before rewarding some jerk, this obviusly does not apply to real life, this is a game and hooking instead of giving hatch is a minor unrelevant event that doesnt have any lasting consequences, I usually refuse hatch in most situations.

If people DC early, I'll try to let the remaining players do gens and escape as long as they let me get some chase, hit, and hook scoring, too.

Granted, I don't force it though. If they'd just rather get hooked and leave the match for a (hopefully) real match instead, I'll end it and we can all move on.

But generally, I'll try to get them BP since they got screwed over by the early DC(s).

I let the last survivor have the hatch for a variety of reasons, but I won’t ever give it to a person that flashlight stuns me. That person gets the hook no matter how many others d/c.

  • AsherFrost
    AsherFrost Member Posts: 2,340

If I see one survivor getting screwed over by bad teammates I try to give them the hatch or, failing that open the gate and let them out. Doesn't always work, as sometimes they end up crossing my path too many times while their teammates are alive and end up hooked.

You are probably confusing a tea-bag with a thank you. I do the butt-dance to killers that let me go to thank them, because there's really no other way to communicate with killers. Then I'll do a gg ty at the end of the match.

I never get dc's but if I did probably not, we are both doing our objectives, you are trying to survive, I'm trying to kill. You shouldn't be helping me kill and I shouldn't be helping you survive

I've taken to couching and lowering my head, then leaving to say thanks. Cant be seen as t-bagging in a bad way then....plus I think it should be clear enough what I did...

That's actually exactly what I do. I crouch give a little bow and leave.
