Why give dc bans for steam or dbd server issues?
Every once and awhile I will get dced from either steam because of an update or get behaviored by dbd servers and it still acts like i dced. I feel like this could be easily differentiated by the game as not a dc. While rare i don't think it should be a thing can someone please address this?

Such disconnects are common on console, although i haven't let the penalty grow beyond 5min. Unfortunately they cannot tell the difference between an actual intentional DC and crashes/drops/whatever, and the penalty treats them the same.

The game cannot tell the difference between an accidental crash or someone forceclosing the application. So in order to not make the DC penalty completely worthless, it applies to crashes as well.
Please ignore the fact that people can just suicide on hook.

Devs prefer suicide on hook because at least the killer still gets points. It's not like a DC gives killers extra bp too...oh wait (I'm totally not salty that survivors don't get bp if someone DC's but killers do)

Yes, you do. There is an "Abandoned" score event if another survivor DCs.

Had this happen on PS4 last night. Got into a match with a friend. Everything seemed to load fine. But the game got stuck at the opening scene with the map title and just froze. Couldn't move, couldn't control the camera, just had to sit there watching my character breathe. Gave it 2 or 3 minutes before we disconnected, still go the penalty.

Isn't there a small "Abandoned" point notification? It's really small, but it's there, I think. Definitely not worth having to play the whole match a player down though.

Because you deserved to be punished whether it's your fault or not, kind of like an abusive relationship.

Actually, that's not the case at all. A suicide gives peanuts. May as well not even mention it. They just don't know how to get rid of suiciding.

They just need to change struggle phase to be more like PH's cages where you get constant skill checks. Obviously you can still intentionally miss skill checks to lose more progress, but it's not an instant death.
It would also help new players to avoid instant dying as well as the mechanic is pretty punishing if you aren't aware of it.

i have over 2k hours and have never once been dc'd from the server where it resulted in a ban. i don't understand all of these posts claiming so. it must be your internet?
1 -
Nope it's the game, and most likely it's optimization. If I do not restart my Xbox every 5 matches or so drops like those described here can occur much more frequently, without interrupting streaming the game or chats of I'm in a group. And I'm certainly not alone.

Wow apparently I never noticed it. Do you know how many points you get? Yeah definitely won't be enough to make up for the missing player

600 BP per DC. Killers get 625 BP per DC.

nope it was a steam error. Happens every once and awhile. congratz on your pristine internet. Still doesnt help people who have this issue

thanks :)
mm that's odd because i play a lot and it's literally never happened so imo must be ######### internet which is their fault no matter how much someone may say "it's not my fault".

I would also like to add, if you have a wife lol

Pretty soon there won't be any DC bans to give out because this game is about to die soon... it won't make it in to 2022.... takes like 10 years to find a match as it is.

I've lived for 30 years and never had chicken pox before but others have. Therefore it mustn't be a problem.

yeah i agree chicken pox aren't really a problem.

Until you get it when you're 30.
