Why do people complain about slugging at X gens?

I get why people don't like slugging, but why does it matter how many gens are left?

    If all the survivors get slugged at 5 gens then it's purely the survivor team's fault. As much times as it can take for -most- killer's to get 4 downs the other survivors should have been able to pick someone else up.

    Obviously there's a couple killer's that can down super quick, but that's the exception
