Devs, when are you formally addressing game stability?
Don't know if you have corporate mandates to fill BHVR, I don't really care, what I do care about is you sticking to this 3 month killer release schedule with all these skins and whatever and yet no public announcements have been made with your goals to increase the game in technical quality whatsoever. You say you are constantly working on optimization for consoles at least but it seems that is rather ignored as frames can still dip plenty into below 20's on console, game stutters are often and crashes happen sporadically between patches.
Combine this with utterly abhorrent build testing where numerous and sometimes character or game breaking bugs are let into live server with a "fix it later" mentality. I am honestly surprised how successful this game is, but seeing as DBD is in the same niche games like madden and fifa have where they can be as broken and utterly trash as possible but gamers still buy them because they have a monopoly on that specific game niche is fully apparent with DBD.
The developers have made it abundantly clear in their near half a decade working on DBD and even longer before it's official release that they do not care about making a quality product and see you the player as expendable dollar signs and profit margins. And if any moderators take offense to me saying this then explain the year after year of utterly abhorrent bugs, glitches, optimization, and technical failures and errors that has plagued DBD patch-to-patch since its inception, yet they are still holding to a tight monetary 3 month content dump schedule and running microtransactions and battle-passes galore whilst the game SUFFERS.
Entire chapters, characters, and maps are released broken, buggy, and unfinished. Playtesting is so non-existent only a few months ago a literal universal HOOKING bug was let loose into live and took the developers much longer than they should of to get a hotfix out to patch it. How a bug so core and integral to base gameplay got through even the slightest of oversight BHVR may have goes to show their negligence to create a quality experience for their consumers.
This isn't even to mention the atrocity that is their balancing decisions, never have I seen developers so cloudy and untransparent with their community to address integral issues to their fullest many of which that still to this day go ignored. Dislike facecamping and tunneling? too bad take some perks and shush up, dont like gen rushing and unbalanced maps? too bad take some perks and very underwhelming map "reworks" which still have yet to actually balance many of the ultra safe loops and tile structures dead by daylight has. Yet they are still out here selling battlepasses, skins, and new chapter right on schedule no matter how broken it is for your consumption and their monetary gain.
BHVR, show us you care about your game... that you actually care, you can patch perks and buff or nerf this and that all you want and make baffling "reworks" like you did to clown all day. But until you actually show you desire to make this game better in meaningful and fundamental ways, you are no different than EA or Activision, strangleholding and nickle and diming players to your monopoly that you desperately hope no real competition to come in and rock your boat made out of cards.
I read your forum TOS mods, nothing in this post is inflammatory or inciting negativity towards anyone or the developers, It is all information easily collected through observational fact which many in the community is already aware of; I hope you take that into consideration when reading this over.

Playing this game for almost 4 years. The community has asked for a "health update" to optimize the game and get standard framerates on gaming PC.
2018 - i had a i7 920 @ 4.0 Ghz + GTX 1060. I was able to run the game in ultra @ 60 FPS constant.
2021 - i have a 2600x (50% more powerful or something) + RTX 2060 (50% faster) and i get 60 FPS in ultra.
What happened ? They changed the engine to go with UE4. Whatever, optimization is terrible an nothing will improve. I heard there are problems on PS5 too lol... which is like a combo 3600x slightly underclocked + RTX 2080... with faster RAM/SSD than what we have.
What a shame xD.

Don't even get me started on last gen Consoles.
It's atrocious and they know it. They said they committed to fixing it, but that was two full years ago and there's been no updates.
I'm gonna keep reminding people until something happens.
18 -
But still, if you complain, the standardize response you'll get is "It MUsT be a PrOBlEm On YoUr EnD"
5 -
So many of the animations and turning framerates just tank the system, survivors are blurs on your screen if you have any high sensitivity, and have you ever tried to spam pigs ability noise over and over again on the original xbox one? my frames literally go below 10 it is hilarious, and for a game that looks and is so small scale as dbd, this is laughable.
1 -
I'm a noob at coding but my guess is DbD's code is terrible, full of coding aberration and heavy useless line. I guess it is a mess in there and they can't really fix it without rewriting everything from scratch. Otherwise they would have been able to fix it.
But as i said, i'm a noob at this.
3 -
I mean, bugs will always be introduced in new patches, that is just the issue of having old code not being replaced. They are slowly working on that, but it might be worth simply remaking the entire game first. In fact, if they remake the game from scratch but keep the visual assets, they might actually be able to recode the game in 6 months. This would remove many bugs, make it a LOT easier to adjust some values that they cant right now. The biggest reason they go in killer by killer basis rather than quickly adjusting some values is because of the spaghetti coding. Turning Vigo's Salty Lips from 3% each to 4% each might lead to noed's movementspeed going from 4% to 40%.
However, they can never recode the game, because people want the current game to be fully fixed. The current game can never be fully fixed. Even if you give them 4 years time to sort everything out, the core of the game wasnt meant to contain this many perks and characters. The fact that we only encounter 1 or 2 actual gamebreaking bugs per PTB is a miracle. The more and more killers are added on top of the current mess, the more and more likely they are going to be bugged and broken.
Essentially, after they finished The Realm Beyond, they should start recoding the game and not release that code into the current game. No patches of that code entering the current game either. Simply waiting untill its fully done, then fully overwrite the old game with the new game. It is the only way for this game to continue growing without breaking more and more with every patch.
Yet the biggest reason they wont, is because that project would cost a lot of hours and money, let alone that it can be mindnumbing. However, I fully believe that it would be worth it in the end. So many players would return if at least 90% of the code is stable throughout the game.

They make enough money with all their monetization and popularity, i bet the corporate suits are just trying to milk it for safe easy short term profits than seeing dead by daylight as any sustainable franchise
3 -
I mean, its been alive for nearly 5 full years. The average playerbase has increased and the average players buying cosmetics also increased. Its definitely sustainable long term, which is why they dedicated so much time into revamping the graphics(which people complained about for years, and now that they finally do it, you have people claiming the graphics never mattered). It's not just the fault of the devs. It's the majority of players not being able to make up their minds.
All we need is a majority of players begging for a recoding of the game for the devs to start prioritizing that. Right now people complain about nitty gritty details that dont mean ######### unless the game's code is structurally sound.
1 -
I wonder if they are actually considering it sometimes, how long would you surmise they could take to do such a fix?

Yeah just toss us like 3000 dollars each and we'll be set bro

As much as I love DBD I can not believe how poorly it is running to this very day.
I'm playing Destiny 2 on my old XBOX One right now. A huge open world-ish, high graphics, fast paced online shooter with a million effects happening every few seconds yet I experience exactly 0% fps freezes.
Meanwhile DBD: One character (killer) attacks another character (survivor) and applies a debuff (sloppy butcher) - *ENTIRE GAME FREEZES FOR UP TO 3 SECONDS*
10 -
Well, i guess 90% of the players on this forum has a PC weaker than a PS5 (Ryzen 3600 underclocked + RTX 2070/2080).
40% weaker than a PS4 (Pentium G4400 + GTX 980).
So no, PC is not Masterrace unless you have money and you change your hardware every two years.
3 -
My GTX 1070 (released in 2016) and i7-4770K (released in 2013) are/were still going strong. The only reason I had to change my CPU was because my motherboard, of all things, was dying (3 out of 4 RAM slots were gone), and the CPU was simply too old to fit in the new motherboards. Otherwise, it was a damn fine CPU.
Sure, they can't play every game maxed out (in fact, they are approximately the recommended specs for many AAA games nowadays), but they're very good, despite being almost 5 and 8 years old, respectively. PC gaming is not as expensive as people like to claim, nor does it require as many upgrades as people like to claim.
Getting back on-topic, the game's not perfect, but it's not this insane pile of bugs people like to claim it is, either. Most people do not experience all these stability issues, or there'd be a lot more complaints and a lot fewer players. Furthermore, each and every patch has a ton of bug fixes, stability fixes, and so on. I'm not quite sure why you believe the devs aren't addressing the issues.

Sure, runs better on switch. In handheld mode too.

We've had multiple posts that will have hundreds to thousands of comments where players have begged for optimization and will list specific triggers for framedrops but they get closed. This post (https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/187573/console-optimization#latest) was closed after it was necro'd (and those last comments deleted) when there's plenty of other posts that get brought back from the dead that get left alone. I had notifications for when someone commented on it that were sent to my email so I could see the post had been necro'd and the comments before they were deleted. When it comes to performance issues they just don't want to hear it. As long as players will play through the issues they aren't going to bother fixing them.
4 -
I shouldn't be able to tell a killer has Sloppy Butcher without being hit but every game when the first person gets hit - could be on other side of map, no where near me- if my game freezes I know the killer is running it.
5 -
I run a $1400 PC that I bought years ago and I do not have performance issues on it. My FPS does not drop, I don't freeze, I don't disconnect.
Quit acting like this game runs like Crysis.
2 -
How many fps ?
If you play @ 62 FPS, forget it, i don't play on pc to get 62 fps only.
2 -
yeah that is what I don't understand, these consoles aren't shovel-potatoware, and many of these games nowadays have versions optimized for consoles, why we are having such frame drop issues on a game as simple and small scale as dbd makes no sense to me
5 -
I run on ULTRA settings. Stop making excuses. The game is not that bad.
2 -
We've asked for a health chapter for years now. I legit cannot play killer on new Ormond because the fps just tanks in chase.
2 -
Take DbD, ultra settings, 62/80 fps with RTX 2060 and a Ryzen 2600x.
Now take BFV, ultra settings, 120 fps constant, with 64 players shooting, running, throwing grenade, building collapsing ant tank exploding =) and overall the game has way better base graphics.
So you play @ 62 FPS. I have a 1400€ gaming RIG, i play with 62 FPS and i feel happy...
A game like DbD, on UE4 should run @ 144 fps constant in high preset on my rig. I have a 240hz monitor, it's not to play with 62 fps...
Edit : while playing, i have 90 fps constant if i lock them, i can't go past it or else frames are uneven. Anyway when i unlock my FPS goes from 120 to 90 with GPU @ 50% max, CPU @ 25% max, Max Thread @ 70%. I have 16 GB 3200Mhz and a SSD EVO. So definitely something is leaking somewhere.
2 -
So basically the game is fine you just have insanely high standards. Got it.
1 -
I fail to understand their relent to do so, or their relent to clearly address the problem to its fullest, the twins chapter was an small example of them addressing a very bad singular chapter release but they failed to address that this is literally status quo for their development process.
1 -
I think the game is improving on that aspect. Slowly, but still.
Entire chapters, characters, and maps are released broken, buggy, and unfinished.
This is what disappoints me the most. It seems to me the current roadmap with one big update every 6 weeks is too buisy for them to handle. The state in which they published their latest updates is kinda shameful. They should raise their standards and give themselves more time.
1 -
If you don't think it's so bad, borrow a friend's PS4 or whatever, load up a killer, and head on into Lery's.
I'll have milk and cookies waiting for you in the center room. Oh and 15-20 fps. That's the best part! :)
6 -
A PS4?
That's like a baby's toy.
0 -
You clearly never played on console before, did you?
FPS drops we get all the time because of Bloodlust,Sloppy butcher,Noed/Devour Hope etc. is certainly game breaking and has ruined a TON of matches for me and definetely for others aswell.
3 -
Stability/Optimization is still a HUGE issue and people are talking about this issue (Especially us console players) for years.
FPS drops and memory leak are a thing for us and often times ruins the game experience for us.
BHVR once said they will aim for 60 FPS on PS4 and XBOX One back then in March 2019,but we pretty much didn't heard ANYTHING about it.Even after people started a thread about the state of Optimization on console with like 30+ pages.
And the only thing we got was nothing more than a useless "We'll look into it".
Just look into the Optimization category of this forum and filter for "Solved" or "Acknowledged" and you see absolutely nothing.
It's embarassing to say the least

"Next generation gaming"
0 -
That's on PS4
0 -
I own the One X, which is significantly more powerful than a PS4, and there is zero improvement.
The game was badly ported to Console.
7 -
This seems to be the consensus. If this is the gameplay that console players get I shudder to think what kind of game this is on mobile.
0 -
One x or series x?
0 -
One X

It's still the largest console platform trying to run this game right now. I play it on an Xbox1x, supposedly the strongest of the last gen consoles, and even it cannot digest DBD very well.
I always encourage our PC cousins to play the game a few times on a console, ignoring all the talk, and find out for themselves what it's like.
Plus ya know, cookies.
4 -
I've heard about your cookies. THEY HAVE RAISINS IN THEM.
2 -
No no oatmeal and granola onlyyyyyyy
2 -
Why don't you make your own game?
0 -
Really? Going to try this argument? I can criticize what I can't do, especially if I have experienced or viewed a lot of what I am criticizing. This is like saying why doesn't a sports commentator go out and play the game themselves.
5 -
It's kind of comical that even PS5 has frame rate drops. They're nowhere near as frequent or severe as PS4 ones were but they do happen. Would drop to around 10 FPS every time you hooked someone on a lunar event hook, in particular. If they can't do a consistent 60 FPS for next gen consoles, where does that leave previous gen consoles?
6 -
If you don't know performance standards on gaming PC, you should not talk about it.
144 FPS became a standard on PC, especially since the RTX 2000 release.
Every mainstream multi games runs at 144 FPS + on my platform : Overwatch, Valorant, CS Go, R6S, LoL, PubG etc...
And yet with DbD i don't even ask for 144+, i just ask for 120 FPS which is not that high for this game and this game engine.
"Insanely high standard" - someone with a 1400 € gaming rig playing @ 60FPS 🤨
1 -
It is more than FPS drops man, those are literally freezes, the game literally stops with 0 FPS for 1 second lol xD
2 -
All of this is same for me. That last video because Prove Thy Self icon was popping up - I've started to hate survivors bringing in the perks that pop up when they get near.
1 -
Hmm,i thought FPS drops and freezes are more or less the same 🤔
But yeah,it's plain awful
0 -
Damn,you're actually right lol
How garbage must your optimization be if one simple tiny icon is enough to completely freeze your game for a second?
Amazing
2 -
CORRECT.
If my game doesn't skip, drop frames, crash, or stutter then it is fine. You can whine about peak performance all you want, but that doesn't make the game as unplayable as you claim.
1 -
i remember when the devs said they were rebuilding the whole game from the ground up with C++ to ditch the spaghetti coding
3 years ago hehe
3 -
It's not an argument it was a question.
