If they ever do streamer themed cosmetics again, It'll probably be in the form of charms. You know how much they love their charms

He's very level headed when it comes to game balance. He understands what keeps survivor players coming back and demonstrates strengths of killers against good players that doesn't follow the bandwagon that killer is unbelievably weak as is custom here. He pushes himself. I appreciate it.

I do love watching Otz occasionally. I do disagree with some of his opinions however and he can be a bit arrogant at times. If I’m not mistaken, in a recent video of his, he essentially argued that because he can do well on basically every killer without add ons that therefore everyone could do the same with practice. This is obviously not true, some people just play casually and wouldn’t have the time nor the will to get to his level whilst others just suck no matter how hard they try to improve. He’s really good, most others aren’t. (If I’ve misremembered his argument then please do let me know.) Regardless, he is still a genuinely nice guy from the looks of things and his videos and streams are quite entertaining. He also helped me improve a lot because he often explains what he’s doing.

That is such a weird argument I have heard from so many sides. ("Survivors in NA are worse than EU" in regard to Scotts win streak, "Survivors in EU are worse than Survs in NA" from Monto etc).

I think there is are difference in Survs depending on time (more SWF in the evening for example because of work/school) but there is no logical argument for difference besides that.

Tru3 and Otz are also roughly in the same region, so there should be an overlap in the people that they are matched with anyway

Monto is in NA,so the region is different in this case (but from both, Otz and Tru3) I do not watch him at the moment but I used to watch his Videos and there were plenty of them where he was also matched with inexperienced survivors.

I personally think that there are many survivors in red ranks who are not that great and streamers with 4000/5000+ hours will highlight that but I can't see a logical reason why some of them should face stronger Survs than others, when they are all in red ranks.

He was good. But his 50 win streak stomping noobs at night when all good players are sleeping with ruin undying got boring very fast.

As an EU player who has played different multiplayer games in both NA and EU servers i can say, for what i've experienced, that EU players (generally speaking) are not necessarily better, but sweatier.

You’re not wrong But it’s a bit disingenuous to claim everyone could get to his level. It’s like saying, ‘Everyone could be a millionaire’. It’s technically true but the statement ignores all nuance. What about people who don’t have time to practice on the game? Let’s not forget that he plays the game for a living. Or what about people who, for lack of a better term, aren’t smart enough to get to his level? I mean no matter how hard I tried to get good, I could never really get beyond just being ok. I’m alright with that, at the end of the day, just being ok in a video game is fine. It’s just that, to get onto Otz’s level would require an immense amount of time and practice. On top of that there’s differing levels of intelligence, some people don’t handle stress as well and could panic in a close match and many other factors like disabilities which give inherent disadvantages. I don’t think Otz is a bad guy, I just didn’t agree with what he said.

"What about people who don't have time to practice on the game?"

Well, then the "with practice" sentence doesn't apply to them.

Though i completely agree with your "Everyone could be a millionare" explanation, i think that being good at the game is more achievable simply because there's less competition.

He's just a normal guy trying to improve the community by making educational content and demonstrating what having a good outlook and attitude can do. Not blaming the game for your own mistakes, looking at ways to constantly improve and finding ways to make interesting fun builds. He has a decent sense of humor but not too over the top. I do suppose according to some it is a bit dry humor but I prefer that. He's not super serious nor is he an exaggerated personality.

I don't watch content creators often but Otzdarva and Scott Jund are the only two I bother looking at.

He has a faq and is asked the same question sometimes 20 times within an hour - You'd snap too - The main thing is he actually has it blatantly obvious that he has a faq and no one uses the command. A lot of the time the questions he's asked is on the faq or it's too early to even ask him such as - What do you think of the new killer? Answer is usually the same - Wait a few weeks after the killer is live and a video will be made. If he's playing the killer usually their tone and how well they're doing and enjoyment gives a good idea of what they think of the killer.

Otz is like Zer0 from the smash community:

I don't personally enjoy watching them or particularly like the fake "nice streamer who is definitely your friend" persona but I respect them. They're adults, they know how to make money and they keep the hustle going. Huge respect for that.

He's the epitome of twitch-friendly sub magnet.

I've no problem with Otz, he's a great player and I watch him a decent amount. I'm more of a Tru3ta1ent fan. I can watch Tru3 with my kids cause he doesn't swear as much. Otz is dropping f bombs all the time which is fine, I just don't want my kids repeating it! haha

I watched him during his no hit run of dark souls 2 and it kinds sticked.

He's just a chill dude that's pretty good at games and is willing to give advice.

Thing is you really don't need to be more then that

I like that he tries to always improve. And you can learn a lot by watching him.

But what i dont like is that hes says so much contradicting things.

He says balance are fine, but he says that even he has no chance with most killer against a good team. Or that genspeed is currently balanced and then there are so many games where he says they have a brand new part, prove thyself bc the gens are too fast. And then he sees that they had only one brown toolbox and suddenly the genspeed is ok.

I like to watch SpectrePiatch, Instamauz mostly. Sometimes I also watch Gränz and MasterDLX. There is also Schwabbeltown, EddyWarden and thefacelessone_, which friends of mine watch and aren't bad either.

I've watched a handful of his videos; he comes across as level-headed, respectful and skilled. Alongside HybridPanda and Ohmwrecker, they're watchable to me because they don't present an inflated ego on-screen.

Interesting. Do you have a theory why?

(Not trying to sound challenging, I'm genuinely interested.)

  • Gay_Police_Dept
    Gay_Police_Dept Member Posts: 743

Honestly, no, no clue. I can tell what i've seen, but i don't have any solid theory of why it is like that.

Also, within the EU DbD community, i noticed that Italians, followed by Spaniards, tend to play sweatier than the average, like huntress with Iri heads + noed + ebony mori and stuff

I may be misunderstanding but I'm not really seeing an issue admittedly - Yes he gets snappy but he quite literally will answer a question only for someone else to ask the same question about 5 minutes later. That's just the price of being a big streamer. Likely the reason he gets annoyed is because he uploads videos on YouTube to stop these questions from being repeated.

And likely again if he's answered the question a dozen times a donation isn't going to change his thoughts on it - If he caves on one question that just opens the gates for everyone else to use the donations as a service instead of saying thanks for the stream.

Hey it sucks that it happened but some people asking questions should be a bit more self aware and look around on the internet. He has a youtube channel and faq specifically for the questions he gets - I'd be surprised if he received a question lately that he hasn't answered before.

So I don't play any dbd at all, maybe have 50ish hours in the game and half of it is afk time. I watch both otz and hexy because I think that they have amazing streaming personalities in very different ways. Otz is a great guy, he might be the nicest streamer I've ever seen and he seems to genuinely want to provide good content for the people interested in getting better, but for someone like me who doesn't care about that his sense of humor and sarcasm are hilarious. Hexy on the other hand is also great at the game as both killer and survivor but his humor resonates with me a ton more. Him and his chat are all just trolls and it's pretty funny to see. Plus his spooky Saturday and weird Wednesdays are always worth looking forward to.

I generally only watch Otz when a new killer is released on Ptb or full release since I feel like he goes more in depth about what that killer can do and what the new survivors perks could combo with. I personally prefer to watch Tofu for killer content overall though.

I watch Zubat and I appreciate how amazing he is at survivor (and his huntress is amazing). But I find zubat so incredibly boring to listen to, he has the skill no question but I think he severely lacks charisma. I watch him for good plays but honestly his voice puts me to sleep!

True always complaining about something tho. Otz give her that information type things that remind of bricky in way. Otz pretty much can tell you what trap is gonna hit that survivor.

Well, he is not wrong. That's the difference between a donation and payment for a service.

Zubat's basically that guy who's really good at DBD, but lacks a personality. I've seen some of his streams he's not really ever engaging to much with his chat, he's more so just playing the game really. Compare him to Umbra she's always engaging with her chat, and being damn good at the game at the same time. She seems more expressive and always smiling, where Zubat is just showing his normal expression. That's really one of the huge drop offs for me as to why I never really enjoyed watching him

  • Dwight_Fairfield
    Dwight_Fairfield Member Posts: 7,028

I somewhat agree with that. Umbra is what I consider the template for a great Dbd streamer. Wonderful personality and really skilled at the game, too. She's the whole package.

But I do enjoy watching Zubat for his laid back/chill approach, while being great at the game.

I like Otz but I can’t stand his chat and I don’t like that you’re forced to see what they’re typing on his videos. It actually made me stop watching his YouTube videos that are taken from live streams. I prefer the way Monto does videos for YouTube that aren’t just taken from his Twitch.

  • Hex_Salt
    Hex_Salt Member Posts: 443

Yeah I agree i think being a DBD streamer (or any streamer) being good at the game gets you so far. Zubats skills are near enough unmatched and as you said you can see tje skills when watching him. And dont get me wrong he has done really well for himself, its just having charisma as a streamer gets you further. Charisma can compensate for skill. I personally would rather watch an engaging charismatic streamer that's good instead of watching a more muted streamer who's the best

I really love his Dark Souls videos. It shows just how skill and determined he was even before DBD. I still actually prefer those videos, since they are much more technical overall and require a degree of willpower that is lost in DBD due to the speed at which games go and how repetitive it is.

He's a great guy with a great personality and mind. There's a reason he's the most watched DBD streamer by a significant margin. I feel like a lot of the 'controversy' people are making against him (not the debate but the grifters that start shitting on the poor man on the side) is only to get some of that clout. You're free to not enjoy him, that's perfectly fine, and I do find the DBD content quite dull at times.

I don't like him too much because of his "mr. nice guy" attitude. He always tries to maintain this super positive attitude (altho he curses a lot when he gets mad) and treats chat and donaters like literal angels. It's just too much and seems too fake imo.

I rather watch people who are genuine like hexy or pug or zubat. For example I know hexy plays toxic sometimes and shittalkes a lot but at least he is honest and doesn't try to kiss everyone's a... and I like that about him. He is genuine and seems like a nice dude you could hang out with thats honest to you
