What do you think about the trickster changes? All changes below
We’ve remixed the All-Kill Chapter a little bit between the Player Test Build and release. (That’s our way of saying we made some changes.)
Here’s a quick thread going over some of the most notable differences you can expect to see.
🎶The Trickster
🧑🎤 Main Event automatically throws blades when activated and can be cancelled early
🎤 During Main Event, your ammo no longer decreases
⛹️ Trick Blades no longer deal bonus Laceration, but instead award bonus Bloodpoints and ricochet twice instead of once
📊 Improved feedback on Main Event cooldown
👓 Improved visibility of Laceration meter on Survivor portraits
🛠️ Various bug fixes
🖍️Perks
💪 Smash Hit: Duration increased to 4 seconds
💪 Self Preservation: Now also hides Pools of Blood & Grunts of Pain
💪 Starstruck: Exposed effect now refreshes any time the Survivor enters your Terror Radius, and the effect persists for 26/28/30 seconds after leaving it. Cooldown reduced to 60 seconds
💪 No Way Out: Now has a base time of 10 seconds, +4/6/8 seconds for each token

I don't get it, did they buff his blades or not
The wording is really bad
5 -
He's still not worth playing over Huntress imo but the perk buffs are ok I guess.
2 -
This ain't it chief. He's gonna suck and they aren't gonna actually listen to us until 6 months to a year from now.
7 -
no it seems like they nerfed it, they changed the tricksters add-ons to basically be the equivalent of the padded jaws(a brown add-on) for trapper where you get bonus points for trapping a survivor in one BUT it does no damage to them when they get out. Basically instead of the buff that a lot of people wanted for the killer BHVR said nah.
14 -
Oh my.
This is most disappointing.
9 -
There's still no real incentive to use his power. It's not a threat at a distance, there was no buff to the laceration meters depletion, he's not 115%, and the Trick Blades were his best add on, but now are just super gimmicky.
I had high hopes for him, but at this rate they're solidifying his position as one of the weakest killers in the game.
5 -
Rather than listen to to feedback they do the opposite, standard move on their part.
8 -
Unless they lower the amount of blades needed to lose a health status and up his mobility... none of these changes will him stronger.
11 -
I kind of figured Trick Blades would lose the extra laceration damage, because it became a mandatory addon. I guess what I am surprised at is no reduction to amount of laceration needed for damage.
Also if they are improving the visibility of the laceration meter, can we get it for other timers. Like before the UI change things like Freddy Sleep Timer and Pig Trap timer where placed over survivor portraits and now are behind them.
Also Starstruck got a nice CD buff and a functionality that should have been present initially with refreshing the expose duration while survivors are in TR. Plan to use on a Doctor build as hook survivor -> static blast to locate exposed survivors seems good.

######### no reduction to knife hits to injure/down? That was the most requested changes people asked for smh
15 -
Not to mention that apparently main event automatically activates instead of letting YOU decide when to activate it seems dumb like REALLY DUMB.
Edit: I apparently misread that it apparently automatically throws blades rather than automatically activating. However what worries me is that they didnt mention anything about the limited amount of time to activate main event wasnt removed or made longer as far as im aware.
7 -
The change list does not say that. It just says that knife throwing is automatic during Main Event and you can now cancel Main Event at any time.
5 -
i will have to test it when dlc will drop, but im glad that they tarted to telling our more about changes
1 -
They absolutely neutered his best addon in exchange for QoL buffs on a special ability that hinders you more than it helps you.
They nerfed Trickster. They nerfed a 110 M1 Killer.
Let that sink in.
11 -
It Says you automatically throw blades when you activate it, not that it automatically activates..
2 -
Actually it's the Trick Blade add-on that they changed, and they removed the part where after a ricochet it would deal bonus damage. Now they ricochet twice but don't get the 100% bonus laceration damage, instead granting more bp. You can still down people
1 -
yea I misread which is my bad, although I am a bit sad that it seems that they didnt mention anything about removing the time limit to activating main event or anything of the sort.
0 -
It's disappointing that they haven't actually changed his power
I was expecting a bit more.
7 -
Thats what people are upset about, the fact that it dealt bonus damage was something that made his kit viable. Now that they changed it he's pretty much plague but with a different aesthetic
1 -
Worse than plague
7 -
yea I misread it which is my bad. However what worries me is that they didnt mention anything about the limited amount of time to activate main event wasnt removed or made longer as far as im aware.
0 -
oh yea you right... well at least he has style XD
1 -
And he is 110% I was actually disappointed with some of his changes
Or lack there of
3 -
Its pretty much the HUD and twins feedback all over again, they wont listen or only half listen to the point where what was original requested by the majority of players gets twisted to something completely different.
2 -
Well the first tweet said it's a preview of "notable" changes. So this is likely not the full changelist.
Like I hope the devs are reducing the number of knives to fill the laceration meter (would also justify the trick knife nerf). If they are, they don't think that's a "notable" change.
3 -
YESSS they listened to the feedback for self preservation.
Sorry that was insensitive. But after looking at the killer changes he still going be a c teir killer. Which is a shame because as a survivor I'm all for the challenge.
1 -
I honestly would have thought that the amount of knives would be a major notable change(like top of the list) It honestly makes me really sad because I was really looking forward to this killer and with BHVR's track record... Well I want to have hope but its BHVR we are talking about
3 -
So in summary:
Killer was extremely weak, got essentially zero buffs, improved some visual QoL, and gutted one of his best addons.
So of all the changes offered to fix him he got none and he's still just as bad but also got one of his best addons gutted. So now we're looking towards at least another 6 months till he gets a possible tweak...assuming he even gets any good changes then. Well that's a new release excitement killer.
They say they don't have time between PTB and official release to do much which is understandable, but then how about we actually release them in a decent state so none of this is necessary in the first place? This happens on almost every chapter...hence why they're constantly having to back track to do killer buffs/reworks years later. This is a self perpetuating problem and they are creating more work for themselves.
Pretty happy with the survivor perk changes, some fair buffs for them overall.
3 -
It's still not even close to good enough. Here's what I'd change:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/234939/tricksters-changes-still-arent-enough#latest
1 -
😐...
2 -
I don't know how throwing blades works since I can't play PTB, but if it auto throws the blades during Main Event and you can't open lockers while throwing blades, it seems that the best counterplay could be to just jump in a locker, PTB Twins style.
This seems like a bad change.
Not losing ammo during Main Event is barely a buff.
2 -
Kinda sad ricochet didn't become basekit.
It's the most fun part about him, it's such a shame to hide that behind an addon
4 -
Still no manual activation for his ability which means it'll trigger as survivors are going down. laceration meter still drains extremely quick and has zero effect on survivors if you're forced to switch targets. No mention of speed adjustment for when using his special ability which means a single Rock will still be the best counter available to you.
Perk change is ok, but his power leaves a lot to be used against him.
3 -
Perk changes are nice but that was the smallest issue with the Killer.
Not sure why they didn't reduce the number of knife hits or give base line bouncing blades.
I'll have to see Main Event improvements before I cast total judgement but he's looking weak af.
6 -
He couldn't open lockers while Main Event was active on the PTB. He also couldn't pick up survivors or kick pallets. He was stuck in Main Event until the duration was up. So the automatic knife throwing isn't changing anything.
Now you can at least cancel the power at any time which means he's no longer stuck in Main Event until the duration is up.
3 -
Things sometimes come off as one way on paper but the actual performance could be different (for better or for worse).
Hopefully he's better now, his power never came off as threatening. Not from what I've seen.
1 -
Wasn't Trick Blades his best add-on? And now they're turning it into a gimmick add-on? Do I have this right here?
8 -
I mean that's still bad because you're pretty much forcing him to manually cancel his Main Event by pressing one button and jumping in a locker.
2 -
I really wish that they could make his knives ricochet, base kit. Base kit, they could only ricochet once and with the add-on, keep it where it ricochets twice.
I still think making that change will help set him apart from other ranged killers; gives him a sense of uniqueness.
3 -
None of the changes are surprising.
- Trickster still has the crippling issues he had on the ptb. As expected they nerfed the one add-on people actually liked.
- Smash Hit is now the most powerful exhaustion perk in the game. (that can be used more than once). Watch the video and you make it across half the map effectively ending the chase right there. Bearing in mind they're releasing this alongside a 110% movement speed killer.
- Starstruck will be nerfed by mid-chapter most likely.
- No way out it's still just as trash as before. It's just something that people who rely on NOED to win them games will be interested in, good survivors will just hide it out and complain it's boring.
They might as well just slap up a sign that says "come play our newest craptastic killer so that survivors can have fun tbagging you from the exit gates with their new perks and survivor".
With how restless survivors are becoming regarding queue times and the slop that BHVR keeps churning out I think it's safe to assume that the killer A.I is right around the corner. It must be or else they wouldn't keep doing the things they're doing.
6 -
Addresses absolutely none of the issues holding him back. His changes are worthless.
4 -
useless and stupid changes.
As a classic of these ######### developers.
0 -
I still believe they're doing all the social media stuff (the formatting, the constant retweeting of fan-art of trickster) purely for marketing because they're not confident in the actual killer and their power itself to sell the chapter
There's been no transparency about any of the feedback given about the killer's awful power. It's very disheartening
0 -
I think NOED just took a backseat to Starstruck on survivor's hit list.
Imagine max TR Doc on a small map.
Edit, wrong perk name
1 -
Ha, "Remixed the chapter"! You get it??? Cos it's music based!!
...
I'm sorry I have nothing to say on the changes, that line just made me roll my eyes is all.
2 -
Definetely the worst remix i've read/heard so far
1 -
A 'Demix' if you will.
1 -
Well I was hoping he was going to be getting buffed but this isn't what most people wanted. Looks like I'll be getting him with iri shards so I can complete his achievements and then let him collect dust until a archive challenge comes around where he needs to be played. Then back to the forgotten killers section he goes.
1 -
Isn't that a Kingdom Hearts character?
0 -
His best add-on got nerfed, and his special ability turns into him a fire hose attached to a cutlery store.
Ooooooookaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay....
