Killer closing hatch

I understand the problem we had before with hatch stand offs but I would prefer that the killer was unable to close the hatch and instead the timer started counting down as soon as the 3rd survivor dies. The countdown would prevent standoffs since it would only result in the survivor dying anyways.

Yes let's bring back the hatch stand off sounds like a great idea!!

But seriously this ideas just bad and that's coming from someone that plays mostly survivor. If you and the team lost you shouldn't be guaranteed a free escape with the hatch.

"free meal" and "the killer is given" and "any killer [...] should be presented with a challenge"

It's as if the rest of the match hasn't happened and the killer hasn't done a lot of work already. Restart the clocks. Clear the scoreboard. The killer has done nothing and these two players ought to be 50-50. Any advantages at this point would be inappropriate. Am I reading this right?

In any case, this thread screams "lemme hide all match!"

Sometimes even a 3k isn't enough. The higher the killer's rank the more kills are required and even a 4k might not be enough if they are overly efficient (usually power downs). Until killers get an emblem rework they are kind of forced to farm everyone to prevent the depip.

So many matches happen where the survivors know where the hatch is and the killer doesn't. There are games where I haven't even traversed half the map by the time the third survivor dies! I would say a good fifty percent of survivors already know the hatch location at end game, more in red ranks.

Very hard to cover two exit gates depending on the killer and where the gates spawn.

What you describe will just lead to even more 3rd survivor slugging. It's the only way to guarantee a 4k today if killer doesn't know hatch location.

Hatch and Exit Gates are fine.

Killers being able to close the hatch needs to exist as a way for the killer to force the game to end. Otherwise you get situations where both the killer and survivor refuse to do anything for a long time.

If I safety pip or pip regardless of the number of people that get sacrificed - I consider that as a win as a killer. I don't have an ego issue like a lot of killers so getting that 4k is not something I need to win. I would rather have fun, get decent bp, and safety pip/pip than worry about impressing anyone with a 4k.

it wouldn't be a stand off since we still have the timer that I think should start the moment the 3rd player dies. This way hatch camping in a stand off would still result in the survivor dying forcing the survivor to try for a door instead of waiting for the killer to swing. While the hatch remaining open would prevent the killer from double monitoring gate lights for the camp.

I'm specifically referring to survivor games with randoms. You can play smart, loop the killer, get saves to help your team, get 4 gens by yourself but if your 3 team mates aren't good and die bringing the game to a 1v1 you basically get screwed. Sometimes you can get lucky and the killer didn't find hatch and you get the free escape but usually the killer knows where it is and if the killer know the hatch location it becomes his choice if you can have it or not. Because anytime a killer knows the location of the hatch and doesn't want you to escape he has the capability to stop you 100% of the time due to the fact that the hatch doesn't open right away giving the killer time to get there and he can always close the hatch faster then you can exit through it. So if the killer can close the hatch you might as well not even have a hatch in the game.

Either way this brings us to my problem with the exit gates. A smart killer won't even run all the way to one door or the other to check for the survivor. There is actually a very short distance a killer can run to between where they can see the gate lights on both doors. All a killer has to do after closing the hatch is monitor those lights and once you get a gate to 25% they know which door your on and they camp it.

If I play with friends and we get to a 1v1 a point that will almost certainly result in loosing I accept it we had our chance we just messed up. But for people playing solo and never having a chance at escape with the random team mates they should have a chance to win solo at the end but my issue as I described shows that a smart killer aka a high ranked killer can easily take away any chance you have no matter how good you are by just denying both the hatch and gate options

Like you said the hatch is a free escape and you shouldn't be given more opportunity to get a free escape. It's 50/50 now if either of you don't know where it is so if they hook the third survivor then they are giving you enough chance by not just slugging for the 4K.

Also putting the gates at the opposite ends every game isn't fair to the killer because any survivor with more than one brain cell would just wait for the killer to go to and exit gate and by the time they went to the other to check and came back you've escaped and there is nothing they can do to stop it.

I play mainly solo survivor and even I understand that this would be completely unfair for the killer. Besides we have a shortage of killers as it is so if this was to happen it would be the final nail in the coffin.
