SWFs bullying new killers

I’ve been playing casually since it came out for free in the PlayStation store for Halloween 2 or 3 years ago. I’m a survivor main and so, Im rank 20 killer. My best killer is level 15. I never play killer unless I have a daily or rift challenge, even then I usually go easy and farm and play super friendly. I go out of my way to avoid slugging, camping and tunneling.

I’m also very very busy. Full time job, full time dad to three kids, and a part time college student. I literally only get enough free time to play one or two matches a day.

Survivor ques are insanely long in the evening. So I have to play killer (even though I hate it) if I want to get my game in after work and before bed.

The past 3 days I keep going up against these “rank 19” SWF who have purple unbreakable, borrowed time, decisive strike and adrenaline. All 4 survivors are “rank 19ish” but have level purple perks, bring purple flashlights and loop like red rank survivors.

I might get one hook an entire game. It’s a complete waste of my time.

These guys are pure toxic. They play super aggressive, they taunt all match, they troll and follow me around the map and teabag. It’s ######### awful that this system lets toxic survivors derank and just bully unskilled killers. I really really hate this game right now.

I need to reiterate again that this has been every single game I’ve played for the past 3 days. I haven’t played against a similar skilled survivor.

When I play survivor, if I know the killer is new, I try to go easy, let them get some hooks, let them chase and catch me.

I hate that there are people out there in this community who would go through so much work to derank for the sole purpose of ruining someone else’s day.

It’s one thing to teabag or grief a killer that you fairly outplayed, but it’s another thing to go into a match with the sole purpose of ruing someone else’s experience.

Teabagging is a result of an easy match, bullying is purposely adjusting your rank for the sole purpose of being an #########.

######### this game's matchmaking for being based solely on rank. I hate this. It’s not just the game, the fact that people out there can be so ######### cruel online makes me almost physically ill. It’s such an absolute unnecessarily mean thing to do to someone.

You’re not even playing the game. One hook, and minimal healing, you're not getting pips or BP. Your goal is just to bully. ######### needs to be bannable.

i’m sorry that you have been experiencing this bullying. I think it’s very wrong to teabag especially when you don’t even know this person you’re playing against. And like you mentioned, it sucks when you’re not playing scummy like those things you described.

whenever I go against a team that just teabags, clicks their flashlights at me I try to suck it up but it can get annoying and exhausting. It’s only a game we need to just try to have fun on both sides.

When I get people like this I just slug them.

Yeah, but honestly, that goes both ways. There are enough killers on brown ranks that go full on out on inexperienced survivors as well.

having not enough skill/time to invest/just being new will lead to you having not a fun time - regardless of role you play. Really hope MMR will make this more bearable.

I know this struggle and its why I definately have more hours on survivor than killer. But as you said already, you're a casual player. The hyper aggressive meta that the community has created isn't going away. However you don't have to get good at the game. Sticking wity those matches, taking note of what your killer is lacking, taking stock in what tactics people use easily on you and learning to counter it is all part of the game. You don't have to be a savant over night. Have fun, ignore the trash talking and take the game at your own pace.

Stick NOED on and Mori's for insurance. You don't have to use them but you can atleast be able to return the favour. Best of luck 👌

Rancor & NOED almost always guaranteed at least 1-2 kills.

I understand man, one of my first games I got fed up and slugged them all to death.

Without the right perks killer is at a major disadvantage, you either have to put up or shut up..

This goes both ways and I’ve seen high rank killers purposely derank so they’ll go against low rank survivors.

Also just because you are a rank 20 with purple perks and items doesn’t mean they are new. They could have taken an extended break while they also had these items back when they were high rank.

I play doc with a anti heal build for slugfest. If they used unbreakable for the 1st down it a gg.

It become obvious when you see multiple items and gens being divided. Swf varied from each other. If they are cocky punish them for it. If they are finishing objectives fast go pressure them. I normally play with my friend but we just messed around way too much to be considered good.

Yep and now they have another new perk with the new survivor called Smash hit....good luck lol it will only get worse .

I hardly play killer at all now and when I do it's camping bubba. Game needs to be balanced .

I've been told I'm a toxic and a bully for doing literally nothing except escaping a trial.

Oh and the rare time I am able to save someone from being slugged with "for the people" that apparently is toxic as well according to the killer from last night.

Also, sometimes if a survivor "taunts" at a pallet they are trying to help you out. They are sometimes just telling you to break the pallet when they point at it because they know you literally won't catch them if you don't. I've done that before for newer killers.

He didn’t say they’re new, he said they’re obviously not new because they’re running meta SWF builds and coordinating bully strats. Somebody coming back from a break doesn’t go from red rank to grey 20 in one monthly reset, you only go up one color each time. The chances of somebody leaving the game for 4+ months and coming back to perfectly abuse killers in a coordinated squad is lower than the chances somebody decided to take a handful of hours with their friends to suicide and pose as low-ranks. I hear and see it in the Dead by Daylight Discord SWF channels regularly

The majority of the Killers who “derank” are farming points to spend on somebody because even a semi-afk or level 8 baby killer with 1 perk earns way more BP than a survivor that throws a match by suicide. As survivor you don’t get any incentive to derank other than to bully OR to get less sweaty Killers/teammates which is more fun for certain people. As killer you at least get a higher ceiling for BP and can grind much more efficiently

Survivors were killing the game by lobby dodging until they could cheat with friends. this is why it was added because it was destroying q times.

    @AJStyIez

I never stated how long their break were. I have friends who haven't played in months who were previously red that are now brown rank. That is the statement I made.

Do you have data to back up your fact about killers deranking just to farm points? I'd be interested in seeing that. Right now that sounds like an excuse to me.

I think both sides are in the wrong for doing this, and this isn't a problem exclusive to one side.

@zippie I went thru the same..

Now I'm pleased to say that I've played enough to get back at them.. I love to be toxic to toxic survivors.. they are just a bunch of cowards that take advantage of the 4 on 1 and will even text their salty msgs in group once they die..

@Echorion maybe some of your behavior is similar to toxic survivors.. what you do on pallets sounds similar..

There’s a couple streamers I know that keep two accounts to keep themselves in green/purple rank to avoid red rank killers. They’re very skilled and should be in red rank. It’s very common and why I, a green/purple killer, don’t play at peak times as well as bad mmr. I’ve played countless matches of ppl my rank where it felt fair even if I’m losing but then, I’ll get a match with one person following me around, clicky and knows every single loop. They were the yellow rank to my purple and had way better perks than all the other survivors.

    It's not.

Honestly, the ones who are the most toxic are the ones who falsely accuse others of things. When people do that to someone who isn't, you might find those people stop being so nice down the road.

But sure, call me toxic, because I got them to kick shack pallet and gave them a free hit instead of just holding them there indefinitely and t-bagging them like others might do.

“Also just because you are a rank 20 with purple perks and items doesn’t mean they are new.”

“He didn’t say they’re new, he said they’re obviously not new because they’re running meta SWF builds and coordinating bully strats.”

Sure, you didn’t specifically say how long their break was but my point is still valid. If the OP is encountering THAT level of Intentional toxicity from rank 19s that means either

A: The people are most likely a Red/Low Purple rank at heart and they’re just coming back to the game to have a ‘fun’ time in SWF. If a Red or Purple rank takes a break from the game it would take at least 3 months for them to go back to Rank 20. You only go up one color each monthly reset.

B: The person is actively a Red/Low Purple rank at heart and they went on a suicide streak to derank intentionally. If they’re chasing you, constantly group body-blocking, multiple people clicking flashlights, splitting up on gens at Rank 20-19 it’s extremely safe to assume those are coordinated efforts in a 4man SWF. It isn’t often one SoloQ person does this and 3 other coincidental grey ranks happen to join in on the bullying mid-trial.

I don’t think any person that actively uses the DBD Discord server daily or watches YouTube content would need statistics to agree that its way more likely these players spent a few hours suiciding to get easier matches or to bully than it is that 4 Solo players coincidentally took a 2-4 month break around the same time and have high level team chemistry

You haven't played much killer so that should be expected. It is a PvP game so taunting happens both ways. SWFs might be bullying a few new killers but killers also bully when they can. Slugging, tunneling, smacking on hook are all pretty common you know. You can't expect to play killer very little and win against a decent SWF. The game before you the same SWF probably got killrushed with 5 gens still up.

    @AJStyIez

Again. Just because they are coordinating and in a swf doesn't mean that they purposely deranked to "bully" when at those ranks.

We don't even know what 'THAT level of toxicity' is as we have no video evidence that we could watch. I don't base my statistics when I point them out on "hear/say" Especially if you are accusing one side of purposely deranking when at best all we know if both sides do it. OP mentioned their items as evidence that they must have done this on purpose, when what is factual is that their is a rank reset and it so happens that if you are gone for a while you will undoubtedly go back to rank 20. Which means that if someone was good at DBD back when they played, they would be able to pick it up again in a few months with hardly any problem. That is fact.

One of the problems of a new killer is that you have nothing to help you; no good perks, no experience. The grind is ridiculous it took me so long to get 1 killer fully done so I could play however I like. Teams that derank to bully sadly require a non casual playstyle which isn't how you want to play.

I'm now back in red but deranked my killer because of investing my time in survivor instead; so rank reset brought me down to green. I can tell if a team belongs this low or not, the ones that don't belong got the nasty surprise of a red rank play instead of a casual game. I can only pull this off with my main killer btw, mastering a killer is key.

The matchmaking is still broken allowing things like this. What you can do since killer queue is fast; check the profiles and dodge the obvious smurf accounts. Will make the 1-2 matches you play a day much more fun.

I would never take that as you described.

Teabagging + Point is a directed insult, not a friendly instruction.

Except literally neither of those things were done.

My dude, you are literally part of the real problem.

Someone does literally nothing wrong at all, and you just make something up instead to justify directing anger at someone else, instead of in any actual healthy manner. To vilify people who actually don't act toxic, and bully them until they actually get so frustrated that they do.

    Now that is real toxicity.

Dude.... you are literally just confirming exactly what I just said....

Situations where someone is not being "Toxic" you just say they are; because of how you interpreted something. That is exactly what I am talking about. (also, what you just described didn't even happen at all in the situation I described, you literally filled in the blanks with things that are more toxic, thus further confirming exactly what my point was)

Not every single thing everyone does is meant to antagonize you; but if you are going to take everything as such and lash out at everyone without thought or reason- you are just going to create the hostile environment you are advocating against.

But sure....just insult everyone, don't communicate, just insult. See how far that gets anyone.....

  • EvanSnowWolf
    EvanSnowWolf Member Posts: 1,583

Why would I ever need, or want, to communicate with the opposing side of a PvP scenario? You do know why teabagging is called teabagging, right? It is not a productive or constructive gesture. It is ABSOLUTELY meant to antagonize you.

  • killz4fun
    killz4fun Member Posts: 165

@Echorion agree the most toxic ones are the ones that text after the game, to call someone toxic while they are doing that..

When I encounter groups like this I go stand in a corner until the gens are done then I open the gate. I figure they had to wait 10+ minutes for a game and it probably pisses them off they didn’t get to bully like they wanted. I’ll have a new game a minute later, so it’s not really a problem for me. I’m only a casual killer and I don’t care to ‘learn’ from these types of players.
