Holding W?
Okay, so alot of you know me as a killermain who kinda trolls the forums, lurking and seeing what stupid complaints are popping up and mocking them. So today I log on, and see SEVERAL threads all about one subject.
"SEE KILLERS ARE SO TOXIC THEY ARE SAYING HOLDING W IS TOXIC?!?!111"
I just have to say..... i mean, maybe im blind, maybe theres some cabal of killers doing this to survivors and I could just be a jerk i dunno. HOWEVER..... DO YOU REALLY EXPECT ME TO BELIEVE that killers overnight decided that holding w is toxic.
Is this just a temper tantrum because ds got touched?

Some Youtuber said that there are killers (specifically M1 killers with no mobility) that are at a huge disadvantage on large levels when survivors bolt as soon as they see the killer and it has now been interpreted as survivors are never allowed to run away because it's toxic and unfair to killers.
So it's The Internet doing what it always does; taking a decent point and stretching it to such an absurd level that it becomes ridiculous and then pretends like that was the original point

TrU3Ta1ent made a video about it where in a very specific circumstance when a killer goes after one single person only they get a lot of distance. So of course now holding W is OP

To be clear, I think holding W is a design flaw of dbd, NOT survivors being toxic.
And, unlike DS, most of the time it leads to desired behaviors. The issue is in specific cases like dual survivor assaults on gens, and very open maps with strong gyms that make survivors mathematically impossible to beat with M1 killers.
Mainly its that on most maps W based gameplay denies the killer the ability to even attempt gen pressure any time 2 survivors are repairing and know how to abuse W. On maps with more cutoff points or chokepoints the killer can come from its not as critical.

Well some streamer made a very questionable video were he followed the scratch marks of a Survivor who started running from the 32 TR edge never trying to adjust his movement and said Survivor got a decent amount of distance so now some people are parroting that holding W is a very effective and problematic tactic that should be addressed.
This is one thing I dislike about streamers, they say something and their followers just act blindfolded and repeat the mantra, like some kind of subversive cult.

Do we need a new topic about this every couple hours?

Once it starts to catch up with the comunity this will be the next "NERF DS" topic for a month, that is IF it catches up, luckily the patch is next week and the sheer amount of bugs and performance issues will make people forget about this whole thing.

It's not toxic just effective while requiring little skill.
Of course any killer with mobility, range attack, or if the survivor is already injured/exposed this doesn't work that well.
i don't see how this would ever be fixed if it even needs to be fixed in the first place.

I mean it can become toxic on midwich with OoO gl catching that survivor.

Right? I've seen a lot of points complaining about killers complaining about holding w, but I don't think I've actually seen a complaint from a killer yet.
I'm a killer main and absolutely don't think it's toxic. If the situation is really that bad (and I don't really think it is), it would be an issue with map design, not toxic survivors.

Right, the video was showing how and why it's effective. No sensible killer would commit to a chase in those conditions, and it explains why they can't.
It does however empower survivors who can read distances like that well enough, so that they can be confident that they're never in any real danger. With the right SWF group it can be incredibly irritating... for certain M1 killers.

I'm pretty sure at this point people will get upset at anything tru3 says.

Just to clarify for everyone here, i didnt even know what was going on. I dont think its toxic or whatever. I thought people just started complaining about it in responce to the ds thing.
I dont believe its toxic but i guess it is an old dbd issue?

It's not about it being bad or an unfair tactic, but that it highlights how heavily the killer must compensate for the time lost through outplaying.

I get that, i just didnt know where it came from. Thanks to everyone in the forums for clearing it up for me 👍

Nobody said it was toxic. It's just eye opening at how easy survivor is, by holding forward to buy your team 3 gens worth of time.

To be fair i realized the problem with holding w long before that video comes out. Probably a year or 2 ago.
It's funny those people who has more experience than me does not realize it sooner.
