Is Gideons meatplant survivor or killer favored?
I was talking to my friends about this map and I was kinda surprised we disagreed. They think the map is killer favored (significantly so) and I think it's much more survivor favored (outside of particular killers like blight, nurse and spirit).
How do you all feel about it?

I think it's more survivor favored because most of the killers domt do well anyways indoors but the fact that half the map is cramped limits most killers who need lines of sight, room to dash, etc. There is also the fact of the pallets being very plentiful.

It's much much much much much more survivor favored now. I think it has the most pallets out of any map in the game and you can lose line of sight so much easier.

I mean, it is absolutely survivor sided I am sure, the only thing that keeps me from saying that 100% is I am waiting to see what the statistics are.
The argument for killer is that it lacks vaults, but the sheer ridiculous amount of god pallets it has, be it you believe it is killer or survivor sided- we can all agree it makes for really REALLY stale gameplay.
4 -
Your friends need to wake up and smell the - or experience the pallet being slammed down on their face over and over again when playing killer on that map. It's absolutely ridiculous and whoever thought it was a good idea to have that many pallets in one map should be fired, especially since a LOT of them are god pallets.

Def Survivor favored now! There are too many god pallets
8 -
Survivor sided when it has 20 safe pallets.
6 -
Is this a trick question?
The map has 24 pallets. TWENTY-FOUR.
10 -
The only killers I can think of who do very well on it are spirit, nurse, and blight
People who can do decent are freddy, clown, twins, hag, maybe leatherface, maybe demo and that's about it?

Pretty heavily survivor favored, there's safe/god pallets everywhere.
2 -
By far it's my strongest map as Hag. Tiny size, 2 floors, plenty of high traffic areas for traps etc. Outside of Hag and a couple other specific killers though it's a rather unpleasant map to play on.

It is the most survivor sided map in the entire game bar Haddonfield, and Blight's second-worst map after Lery's. It's also quite bad for Nurse.
The sheer amount of pallets, coupled with their safety, makes it insanely survivor sided. Ever heard of holding W and predropping pallets? Because Gideon has. But unlike other maps you don't run out very quickly at all, so it's even stronger.
1 -
There's also the breakable walls, which are easily the most annoying in DbD and the other reason people claim it's killer sided.
2 -
I thought it had like 32
5 -
It sure feels like it.
1 -
Neither from my experience. I still see killers do extremely well with 3-4k and sometimes you'll have survivors escaping. I just see it as a better version of its previous self because the last Gideon was a mess 🤢.

Let's see how many pallets are required to get rid of all the god pallets 1,2,3 9, toaster
Ohh mb there were so many I couldn't tell what ones I had already counted
1 -
Yea rip that one survivor how died on hook because the bottom part of the map had one open slot out of the entire map
0 -
It's probably the 2nd most survivor sided map in the game behind Haddonfield. Nearly every pallet is safe, with no mindgame. Horribly designed map
1 -
It depends on the killer. Nurse, Spirit, Hag, and Doctor would love that map. End/Fury Bubba and a good Oni might be able to compete. A few stealth killers can benefit on that map as well. For the rest of the killers, it's just absolute hell.

survivor sided, unless you have Nurse or something that can break pallets quickly the insane amount of pallets will screw you over hard
0 -
Sounds like your friend hasen't played since it got reworked.
In the old Gideon you could have the debate wether it was survivor or killer sided.
Now there really is no questioning it
It has tripple the amount of pallets some other maps have and tripple as many godpallets without mindgame then most maps

Just bring zanshin tactics as killer on the game map and decide for yourself.
3 -
You mean the walls that I often have to break just to be able to hook someone because they are constantly in my way?
The walls force dead ends, but in return even those dead ends have several god pallets in them; so you can just not get caught in those spots, if you do you have pallets, and if the killer breaks walls later in the game to get to one of those hooks that area is open and the entire dead end was never any use to him.

It's a bit fun for killers that can easily travel through floors like Demo, Hag, and Nurse. Other than that you're probably gonna get Terminal 7 Brain Cancer. I don't even know what that means, but it's bad.

Past, or current? In the past, it was said to be killer sided. Weak vaults, and static loops. Now, it's survivor sided by far. Over 20 pallets on such a small map? You can do all the gens and still have pallets to spare.
1 -
Actually most of the deathrooms they create only have one pallet in them, which is pretty easy to zone people with so when you break it they don't get enough distance out the exit.
That's why they're the most annoying breakable walls in the game: the killer will just zone you away from the exit, but they also block off half the map so killers can't even move around and have to choose between a relatively free hit or basic map traversal. Which also somewhat impacts survivors.
It's like they designed them with the ethos of "if everyone hates them then they're balanced!"

I always have trouble on this map no matter which side I play.
Survivor: Can't find a damn generator, no idea where the killer is because I'm always in their terror radius, it's nearly always a Nurse with Tinkerer or Jump-Scare Michael, No one escapes.
Killer: Can't find a survivor, when I do I get pallet stunned 10 times in a row, when I eventually down someone there's no hooks in range. Everyone escapes.

Never. Again.
Sometimes ignorance really is bliss.
3 -
Definitely a survivor-sided map, although I've found with Hag and Trapper it can actually be manipulated to become more balancee, depending on trap placement and setting corridors of death by breaking certain walls.
Ironic that a map based on the "Saw" franchise gives killers who specialise in traps a certain edge.

It now has around 20 pallets now. And can spawn at least 2 god pallets. So i would say it's pretty survivor favored right now ^^ But depend on the killer you play : Nurse/Doc/Freddy/Pyramid Head/Huntress will not be hindered too much on this map. (Nurse coz what are pallet ? / Doc coz shock denies your power to drop one/ Freddy with pallet power is crazy good on it/ PH coz he can just use is power after you dropped the pallet / Huntress coz most pallet are in the open and she can throw over it)

It is survivor sided there so many pallets and a lot of them are not really pallets most killers can play around.
0 -
Used to be my favourite map as killer before rework now it's dookie
0 -
Survivor sided for sure. It has so many safe pallets. Its crazy.
0 -
What the hell are your friends on?
1 -
Pyramid head is actually surprisingly good on this map, ngl.

This map is loaded with pallets, with almost every pallet being safe, i'd recommend running SF, Enduring, BS and Hex: Blood Favour, not that you know you get that map, but anything to get pallets out the way in quick succession without losing gens and not hitting anybody.
Survivor sided imo.

Best map to run Pallet Freddy @_@

The Game has always been survivor sided. Even moreso since the update. It's also a great sleeping aid.
1 -
the game always has 31 pallets? since each tile has 1 pallet per tile and 27 tiles, +3 for the detectives room corner, + 1 for the staircase corner
Hawkins has 16 forced spawn pallets, 12 in the rooms, 1 upstairs, 1 in the creep room, 1 behind the staircase on the right, 1 under the staircase on the left, however filler pallets usually average 8-10 so thats around 24-26 pallets as one of the next most pallet maps, too bad only 1-2 of them are good
1 -
How is it bad for nurse ?
0 -
I have actually been having a lot of success on that map as a killer. I don't play those super top tier killers at all. Survivors always spam drop pallets for no reason. Its gets them killed. I think its survivor sided, just the way survivors play on it is dumb. They end up feeling invincible so they start dropping every pallet without caring.

would definitely disagree about gideon being blight's second worst.
there are some tricky spots in the small little rooms you pass through downstairs, but overall, that map is pretty open on the top now, the bottom is also a little more open and easier to traverse, you can force a lot of the god pallets pretty fast by rushing, or you can hit them before they even reach a pallet, AND you can also loop some of the god pallet loops on that map with your power because they're long and straight forward, which is very friendly to your power.
i genuinely don't mind that map as blight, who i hardcore main. never have too many issues tbh. there are actually some nice bottleneck areas in there too.
this map is trash overall though. don't know what they were thinking.
0 -
The bottom isn't fantastic, but the top is.
0 -
You cannot use his power in any of the loops. It's just there for mobility, same as every other indoor map.
0 -
I think it's dependent on who you play.
Yes, there are a lot of pallets, many of which are very strong. But it's also an enclosed map and oftentimes you can't run wherever you want; there are only one or two doors per room. It's also a two story map, so killers with high map mobility can really get things done. Demogorgon does pretty well, while nurse just goes to town.
Spirit does pretty well too. Anti-looping killers, even clown, can get pretty good value. Billy and Bubba are very good at wasting pallets, and brutal strength or enduring/spirit fury do well.
But, most killers aren't chase-oriented. The sheer abundance of strong pallets makes it a relatively survivor sided map, but they have to know how to use those pallets efficiently and to their fullest effect.

if you're on pc (if you're on console, then I understand. I hear he's pretty bad in any map), you absolutely can use his power in loops. it's very much so usable in the regular tiles in the first floor as well. some are actually favorable to blight unless they're pallets that are designed to be thrown around immediately, but that actual loops are just fine for blight.

Its clearly killer favored, come on now.
0 -
It is killer sided. There is a lot of deadend areas where it is one way in and no way out. At least it is not like Ormonds where every pallet is a death trap.
0 -
How many deadend areas are there, actually? You do know if you run into them, you can take a hit and use the speedboost to get to the next chain of 3 safe pallets right? Unless you are unlucky enough to hit a dead end when already injured. If it happens multiple times, then maybe plan your chases better, I mean it's probably one of the few requiring tasks of being a survivor, to plan a chase effectively.
I think the few dead-ends are outweighed by the 20+ safe pallets on the map you can waste the killers time with.
0 -
Someone's probably said it already, but new The Game hates both sides, offering a terrifying advantage to either depending on how it is played--the breakable walls can become deathtraps in many, many places and there is an astounding amount of safe loops present.
The map is small, and killers can be very oppressive if they play the map well. Some killers have devastating pressure (smart Trappers, Hags, competent Nurses, etc.) and can completely lock down half the map, stalling survivor progress to nil.
On the other flipper, survivors can make the map a nightmare to patrol if they keep pressure on and distract the killer for very specific generators. It helps that many killer players have so, so many problems dealing with the amount of pallets present on the map.
