BHVR WE ARE NOT
YOUR BETA TESTERS !
We are players that have bought the game and we deserve quality. PTB is the platform where you can test your new features but the normal game should never be considered as a test playground.
We have paid the game, the full game to play it and enjoy it. So we deserve a few things :
- that you listen to the community when we tell you something, but seeing the state of the game you don't listen much...
- that everything works fine when you release a patch or a new feature
- that you don't change our game experience with your tests
Hire Beta tester as developers were doing 20 years ago or use your PTB.

that everything works fine when you release a patch or a new feature
Every game has bugs. This is an unavoidable fact, and the foundation that DBD is built on makes it buggier than most.
that you don't change our game experience with your tests
It's a live game and, if you read the EULA (End User License Agreement) that you agreed to in order to play this game and must abide by the terms of to continue playing, you'd know that they can do or change whatever they want, whenever they want, as they see fit.

What exactly is the issue? They tested all the new perks and characters in the ptb before release. If you are upset about the mmr experiment, well not everything can be tested successfully in the ptb, especially things like matchmaking that have to work across platforms. Should they do nothing and leave the mmr broken, or take 24 hours to see if they found a fix?
7 -
I guess a thing to wonder is, are you still playing the game even during such?
5 -
It's not a change, it's a beta test...
But hey if you all agree to be sheeps, continue to do so.
8 -
This western world society is pure madness.
Ppl are now fine testing things for companies without being paid.
Do you know htat beta tester was a job some years ago ?
And now you beta test things for the developers while it's you who have paid the game lol...
When the game is free, you can't say much and accept, but you have bought Dbd...
7 -
There’s some things that need to be tested on live servers since a beta test among however many people will not suffice when they need large amounts of data to understand if something is working on a large scale.
14 -
how the ######### would testing SBM work with just beta testers?
You don't want this game to finally get some balanced matchmaking? I am tired of getting people with barely 100-500 hours in my lobby while I got 4k+. This is a good experiment
16 -
So don't play for the next 24 hours. Boom, problem solved. The rest of us that accept that not everything can be tested in beta, and are not so precious as to demand payment for playing a game we would be playing anyway, with at worst, the same broken mmr we've had for years will go on without you.
11 -
The test is just for one day, so I don't really mind.
6 -
Society?
1 this is a community
2 if people really care for something why wouldn't they test out new content
3 the game isn't in beta. beta testers test out things before they even hit store shelves for the public
4 why would you hire a small group of people that may not even know anything about the game to give advice on how to balance it.
When I started playing I thought pig and Myers were op.
Imagine putting someone in charge of a company that has no experience in that subject
Also please think before you speak the grown ups are talking

You must be fun at parties!!

May I point out that BHVR has been taking MMR data for over a year now? No doubt they are updating their algorithm a lot, but wouldn't a year worth of data be enough to figure this out?
1 -
Just to point out, there isn't an online game yet that hasn't experimented with their matchmaking system while live. BHVR is just nice enough to be transparent about it.
8 -
I actually appreciate an opportunity to test out these changes to see if this makes a difference. DBD offer a 24hr test period so we can give feedback sounds like a very inclusive act.
This is either bait (in which case, bravo! It was pretty decent!), or ... well, there aren't any kind words I could use.
6 -
While it's incredibly unorthodox to test on a live patch. I can't hell but encourage BHVR to do small runs of testing. Like the bloodlust experiment. It was random but stuff like that is a great way to make steps forward.
I do think it's unprofessional and opaque. They are pioneering this genre and have zero competition if you're looking at it economically. Makes sense they do what the ######### they want.
2 -
Systems like this don't benefit much from small test. Larger samples are needed.
3 -
Yup, kinda wanna play now. I was just dropping by the forums because I'm bored and destressing. Time to get stressed back out, lol.
4 -
3 things:
- EULA means you have to play the way they set. If you don't like it, don't play. Otherwise you're as much a 'sheep' as the rest of us.
- Have you seen how the devs treat the PTB? The last time they made a good change to something big was making Ghostface more difficult to reveal. Any MMR testing would be completely useless.
- Finally, people play the PTB inconsistently and there's only a significant number of players with a big update (usually a new Chapter or Killer rework). Results from the MMR test will be skewed and again, useless.
Honorable Mention: The test is only for 24hrs, if you hate it that much you can wait a day.

OP reading the EULA
8 -
The live servers are basically the PTB
0 -
I like how it says "you may experience a wider range of ranks". Lol bro I'm getting literal rank 15s squads in my matches as red rank killer every day.
1 -
Wait, is this...a tantrum? Because your points contradict each other. You're saying PTB is tickety-pooh, but you don't want the game changed based on those tests. So your commentary is about as broken as you think the game is.
5 -
unironically calling someone a sheep lmao
you remind me of anti-vaxxers or flat earth believers and honestly at that point you need to re-evaluate several of your life choices
9 -
How else could they test on all platforms & in and around Crossplay except on the live servers?
If it'll improve matchmaking we should throw a friggin parade not complain. Heck leave it on for a week if need be, bound to be better.
4 -
OP being told that the EULA actually holds some importance and isn't just words with more words meaning words:
12 -
Finally! Bring on the cows!!!
4 -
Dat face doe. Impressed he is ....... not.
2 -
moo moo angy >:(
5 -
Did you spend some of your precious lobby time drawing that?
Dedication
2 -
I actually wish they'd do more live tests. Like maybe one day they do a test where add-ons are disabled (both for Survivor and Killer) just to see how that changes things for killers, since most people play with add-ons.
3 -
Oh no I have this on demand don't worry; I need it for meme purposes.
4 -
Legend says dbd is the beta for dbd2 coming in 2080.
3 -
Long live the memes

Only competent, often skilled, knowledgeable and very good streamers/players play on the PTB, and are also only PC. The same people whose feedback and suggestions for balance they've ignored for countless years. Their PTB is the main game where they can test it on party game casuals, who the game is, apparently, made for.

Just so you understand my dear I'm going to enlighten you.
Beta tester was a job for games, programmes BEFORE release or if something huge was developed which changed the games major features/trail of the game. Feature testing however is suited for that kind of environment for a reason. Also, be glad that they allow everyone to get a feel of the new features so they don't walk into a wall face first. Because some games (League of Legends is the one I know for this) restrict for people to test widely and they choose some that they allow to test it for reasons. So get your stuff right. By the way not to mention that you are just a single person ranting about stuff but not coming from an objective angle.
Are they trying to fix some things? --> Yes. Are they great at it? --> Varied. Is the game balanced? Ehh arguable.
So they are already doing more than you up to this day. Added bonus: they threw together a very fun game (gets pretty stale over a longer period of time ngl) and you are ranting about you being a fool about giving your consent for something you didn't know about and now you wanna just wanna throw your tantrums to the public at the hopes of somebody agreeing with you and ranting over BHVR with you. Pack your bags baby and do better if you could, thanks.
Also to anyone who plays the PTB and rants just keep in mind that's the place for new things (including minor and major stuff at the same time).Okay I understand that BHVR throws random stuff at us from time to time but if I can pick on one thing it's the MMR being a huge pile and not killer based (separated for killers [performing well with trapper purple/red ranks, underperforming with spirit white/yellows] not that certain killers get certain mmr survs) (yeah red ranks against a green ranked Plague thank you very much)
3 -
I share your concern. I know what BHVR is like, I feel like if people aren't strong enough in their feedback now we'll end up in a situation where they say "its good enough" slap it in the game and we're stuck with all of its problems for years. They've done this with plenty of things in the game, killers, maps etc.

We're all sheeps thanks to the EULA like the other guy said, u can't do ######### so stop talking #########
2 -
Thank you, lol, I needed that
2 -
every game has bugs, not every game uses its player base as beta testers, and give them broken patches on purpose
0 -
You must be real fun at parties 😩
0 -
And how did the new MMR help with your stress levels? :D.
I had a few rounds and actually was very pleasantly surprised! My matches felt way more balanced, even when I got 4k! Even the one game when I got 0k I blame more on me having a bad trial than a mismatch of skill.
My opponents have all appeared well co-ordinated, so are either 2/3/4-man swf, or very skilled solo players. Whichever way, I'm actually feeling a little bit of pride that the MMR thinks I'm at that level of skill!
So, for me, it is working well.
2 -
EULA for every game states that basically “playing this game you could go under any change that the creators decide”, so you basically signed up for it lol
3 -
Actually, I am! I'm so glad you thought of that cause, pre-lockdown, there was this one party I was at where everyone got absolutely shitfaced except me and I could blow their mind with the most basic of things it was amazing for everyone involved!
EULA.

This ^
Plus it’s unreasonable to believe either the devs can snap their fingers and magically have the necessary data for certain changes (or things that shouldn’t change), or believe that a small portion of JUST the PC player base using the PTB is representative of the DBD community at large, and reflects data that would be accrued from the live game.
4 -
If you don't want to take part in the MMR experiment you can always just take a day off from dbd and play something else it's only a 24hour experiment. A video game shouldn't be such and addiction that this is to much to consider.
2 -
Just leave a bad review
0 -
"if you dont wanna play the game you paid for cause the devs are lazy you can" wow, not one to call ppl sheep but jesus, u ppl are forcing my hand
0 -
######### are you talking about ?
0 -
Why exactly did you pay for the game though? Also the Game is even with the current matchmaking test in a perfectly playable condition... it’s not like matchmaking worked great when it’s rank based..
2 -
Your comment, which I replied to as the 2nd one down. Read the EULA of the game and a lot of things will become clearer.
It's actually true for a lot of things in life; if you actually use your eyeballs and read things become much clearer.
