MMR: Rank 18 Plague destroys red rank survivors

I know it is unfair to play on another account. I've tried this once or times in the past and it was also super boring.

But not today! Since the MMR test is live, I want to get the most from this 24 hours!

On this account I have only 70 hours of playtime and I am using it to test something in the game in "Custom Game" mode. This is how I practice new killers before going into the wild.

Today my goal is to figure out how MMR affects new killer gameplay.

As I have expected -- you are getting matched with red rank players and without any prior game experience you are going to lose as a Rank 20 - Rank 18 killer.

Well, not today.

I've played 7 matches and and the results are below. My thought is: yes, MMR is bad. Good thing the developers decided to test it first for 1 day. My respect for his decision.

You might think, well it is matching experienced survivors to an experienced killer... I am not sure about that, I believe it matches an experienced survivors to any killer. I'd like to see the red rank killer matchmaking, I bet they are all Rank 20s

    Is this what is going on today? I've been trying to get a friend into DBD, but he's a Rank 17 survivor and tonight, has been matched with red rank Killers constantly.

    Needless to say, he's done with the game and finds it pointless. Are they testing something?

    Yes, its a 1 day test of a skill based match making system (SBMM). Tell your friend that tomorrow night things will be back to normal

    Okay, so I've played 10 more matches, where I won most of the time. I'd say the matchmaking is almost no different from the rank-based one.

    I don't know how MMR would work if I lose a lot, but now I am getting a decent survivors, just once I've got rank 18 lobby.

    Well, this is weird, of course how Rank 17 Plague is now destroying red/purple ranks, but MMR seems to be working fine.
